sotonjoe Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 i'll be alright; i'll just have to wrestle a hangover on sunday morning either way!
Saint_clark Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 Saints FA Cup 5th round local derby against Portsmouth has been chosen as one of the ties to be shown live on ITV1. The match at St. Mary’s is scheduled for a 12.30 pm kick-off on Saturday 13th February with each club receiving £247,500 from the FA’s Broadcast Fund. Well, that will pay 1/7 of their wage bill.
Right sider Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 I couldn't get the sunday off of work without alot of negotiation, saturday will do for me!!!! A semi final and the skates in 1 week
Appy Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 I couldn't get the sunday off of work without alot of negotiation, saturday will do for me!!!! A semi final and the skates in 1 week Exactly the same for me. Big releif to see the game is a Saturday.
ericofarabia Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 I couldn't get the sunday off of work without alot of negotiation, saturday will do for me!!!! A semi final and the skates in 1 week I can't get the Saturday Night off, even with a lot of negotiations, so bitterly disappointed that it is on Saturday. Will prob have to make do with (hopefully ) streamed coverage on teh innernet stone cold sober, instead of being well steamed up down teh pub taking the p*ss out of any skates, win, lose or draw
Doctoroncall Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 I was looking at the fixture list thinking we have an extra match with the semi-final of the JPT and that tiredness could be a factor. However, as it happens, the skates have one more game to play due to their postponed games being rescheduled, so: The cup game will be the Skates 5th game in 14 days, if they also sell a few players this transfer window the rest of the squad will have to cope. Saints have a less demanding schedule with the game being the 4th in 15 days, both teams having last played on the 9th Feb before the cup game.
Saint in Oz Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 If anybody from Perth, Australia wants to meet up and watch the games I'm planning to go to the Woodvale Tavern (formerly the Moon & Sixpence) in the northern suburbs they have Setanta and providing it is going to be broadcast here in Oz. (nothing for the 5th round is listed yet). I have posted a message on the Aussie Saints thread http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?p=584504#post584504 on the Overseas Saints board. I have already contacted Saints fans that I know and hopefully at this stage there will 5-6 of us. Would be good to get a few more and outnumber the blue few. Post on the Aussie Saints thread if you are up for it.
SaintDonkey Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 Why couldn't they move it to the Sunday? 12:30 on the 13th I'll be on a sodding plane, gutted
Whitey Grandad Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 Why couldn't they move it to the Sunday? 12:30 on the 13th I'll be on a sodding plane, gutted Each club gets £247,500 TV money. If you're paying half a million you get to say when it happens, I'm afraid.
bungle Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 Why couldn't they move it to the Sunday? 12:30 on the 13th I'll be on a sodding plane, gutted I would imagine partly because 12.30pm on Saturday is already a slot scheduled for tv coverage, and it isn't on Sunday.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 Not particularly to do with the date of the game, but i was just wandering; if a player is on the bench for a team, does that make him cup tied? Just looking at rumours of loans going there and one of the more likely ones is O'hara to go back on loan. He was on the bench for Spurs against Leeds but didn't come on. Would he be eligible against us?
yorkie Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 I would imagine most of the pubs around Southampton will be asked to close on matchday - before and after until early evening. I can't see the likes of The Eagle being allowed to open or The Alex...potential flashpoints? It's a shame in this day and age that we can't all be adult about this - in this day and age anyone should be able to go to football, have a beer, walk to the ground without the fear of being attacked.

theyin Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 frack frack frack, supposed to be playing my Pompey mate at the Belfry that lunchtime whilst the missus are in the spa. How to play this one....hmmmm (cue all the eeeejits who think that having a friend who's blue is the crime of the century)
macthesaint Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 Rule 15 (g): "(g) A substitute who does not play in a match is entitled to play for another Club in the Competition in the same season" As in Lee Barnard. Sounds like the majority are ok with the kick off time. I'm not cos I cant make it now, coaching my lads team and cant make a 12:30 k.o. The wife gave the thumbs up to Wycombe away though as a consolation. All the skates at work are so sure they will stuff us,personally I think them and their team will be happy with a draw and the extra revenue. Anyone fancy a night time trip down there?
Saints Warrior Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 That will get Gaddafi some military equipment and a fair few bars of soap for the pompey filthy few.
thefunkygibbons Posted 28 January, 2010 Posted 28 January, 2010 So far so good, now all we need is to thrash them
