ottery st mary Posted 26 January, 2010 Share Posted 26 January, 2010 No, your maths isn't great. Chivers left Tauntons in 1962 (I think) I started in 1966, aged 11 so that makes me 54, which is right. Always idolised you windows...ever since I was a young lad.:smt054

St Landrew Posted 26 January, 2010 Share Posted 26 January, 2010 Fair play to Saga. Thanks for the brief and false hope you gave us with the 3-1 win against Preston last season. That was a great day. And the hat-trick against Wolves. Good player who went off the boil, and nobody lit a fire under him.

shurlock Posted 27 January, 2010 Share Posted 27 January, 2010 Any chance of bringing another striker in as part of the one-in one-out policy? Paterson most recently made way for Barnard.

Secret Site Agent Posted 27 January, 2010 Share Posted 27 January, 2010 And so they should. Good luck, and thanks for all the goals. Sorry about the lean periods and not setting the L1 on fire, but hey, I'm sure you enjoyed the chance to visit the maritime museum, and had a chance to purchase some furniture from Ikea. SuperSAINT Posted 27 January, 2010 Share Posted 27 January, 2010 Any chance of bringing another striker in as part of the one-in one-out policy? Paterson most recently made way for Barnard. It's a tricky one. Pards seems reluctant to play Papa up there, and Connolly's groin injury is causing me some concern. Can't see us bringing in another one, but if we get another injury, we'll be struggling up top.

SuperMikey Posted 27 January, 2010 Share Posted 27 January, 2010 Shame, I thought he really could've done some damage at this level. I sure as hell would've preferred playing for this club than the Hull City of the Greek Super-League. His decision though, hope it all works out for him. More importantly, who are we going to replace him with?
Matthew Le God Posted 27 January, 2010 Share Posted 27 January, 2010 More importantly, who are we going to replace him with? A proper defensive midfielder to give the number 4 shirt to rather than have it taken by a striker for four years.
SuperMikey Posted 27 January, 2010 Share Posted 27 January, 2010 A proper defensive midfielder to give the number 4 shirt to rather than have it taken by a striker for four years. Suggestions? I liked the sound of Lee Carsley from Brum. He's fallen out of favour there and he's certainly got the experience and tenacity that would give our team a little bit more edge and drive. Perhaps get him on loan until the end of the season or just a 6 month contract because he's getting on a bit at 34/35.
Arizona Posted 27 January, 2010 Share Posted 27 January, 2010 Good luck to him. Had a lot of lean spells, but in between there were some great times and fantastic goals. We have him and Guthrie to thank for kick-starting our playoff campaign three years ago. For all the problem we've had, you can't really say he's lacked effort. Thankyou Saga for our biggest League win in decades and giving us the very briefest hope that we might stay up last season.
Chez Posted 27 January, 2010 Share Posted 27 January, 2010 so that's the end of that then Arizona. Do you think Barnard looks a better player? After Saturday I had my doubts, but after last night barnard might be a buy and a half at this level.

He was very average with poor service on Saturday, that's about all I can say. His scoring record for Southend was pretty impressive though, so hopefully he will be able to prove it when we get a better midfield behind him. Northant Saint Posted 27 January, 2010 Share Posted 27 January, 2010 Well good luck to you Saga, he has given me some of my most enjoyable moments watching Saints in the last few seasons, notably at wolves, and against Sheffield United in the season we stayed up. He has been a true gentlemen throughout his time with us and I wish him all the best for the future. Thankyou Marek.
S-Clarke Posted 27 January, 2010 Share Posted 27 January, 2010 all the best saga - will never forget the 2nd half of the playoff season, he was complete quality. the benefit to this though is it will free up an enormous wage, so the money can go on 2 or 3 other additions in the future. if what i was told was true, he was on up to 12k (inc. bonuses)
SNSUN Posted 28 January, 2010 Share Posted 28 January, 2010 I almost feel sorry for him. No, I think I feel sorry for all the players that played for us for the few years until the beginning of this season. Either way, he won't go down as a Saints legend, but has his hundreds of thousands of pounds, so someone's happy. (I still think we're a striker light by the way...) ghq Posted 28 January, 2010 Share Posted 28 January, 2010 Poirot spoke French, he was a walloon.Although most government agents would now be required to be fluent in at least 2 of the 3 official languages practised in Belgium. How do I know this ? I dated a Belgian civil servant for a number of years, she did the best BJ in the history of mankind. If her obvious attribute is down to beng trilingual, I might send my missus off for some language lessons. She already speaks two, English and Rubbish. thesaint sfc Posted 28 January, 2010 Share Posted 28 January, 2010 I'm totally gutted about him. Everytime someone says he is crap, I look back at the Wolves game! He had so much potential but he really did just waste it.
Bucks Saint Posted 28 January, 2010 Share Posted 28 January, 2010 Excellent news that he has been sold. He will quickly be forgotten. Not by me. Wolves game of course. A month of so of hope last season when he came back from his enforced loan spell. But also - he scored on the final day against Sheff Utd the season before - it was not just the Stern John show! It is great shame how it has worked out and its the right decision now, but I wish him well
