Any chance of bringing another striker in as part of the one-in one-out policy? Paterson most recently made way for Barnard.

It's a tricky one. Pards seems reluctant to play Papa up there, and Connolly's groin injury is causing me some concern. Can't see us bringing in another one, but if we get another injury, we'll be struggling up top.

Shame, I thought he really could've done some damage at this level. I sure as hell would've preferred playing for this club than the Hull City of the Greek Super-League. His decision though, hope it all works out for him.

More importantly, who are we going to replace him with?

A proper defensive midfielder to give the number 4 shirt to rather than have it taken by a striker for four years. :D

Suggestions? I liked the sound of Lee Carsley from Brum. He's fallen out of favour there and he's certainly got the experience and tenacity that would give our team a little bit more edge and drive. Perhaps get him on loan until the end of the season or just a 6 month contract because he's getting on a bit at 34/35.

Good luck to him. Had a lot of lean spells, but in between there were some great times and fantastic goals. We have him and Guthrie to thank for kick-starting our playoff campaign three years ago. For all the problem we've had, you can't really say he's lacked effort.

Thankyou Saga for our biggest League win in decades and giving us the very briefest hope that we might stay up last season.

so that's the end of that then Arizona. Do you think Barnard looks a better player? After Saturday I had my doubts, but after last night barnard might be a buy and a half at this level.

:D

Can't really say I've seen enough of Barnard to comment yet. He was very average with poor service on Saturday, that's about all I can say.

His scoring record for Southend was pretty impressive though, so hopefully he will be able to prove it when we get a better midfield behind him.

Well good luck to you Saga, he has given me some of my most enjoyable moments watching Saints in the last few seasons, notably at wolves, and against Sheffield United in the season we stayed up.

He has been a true gentlemen throughout his time with us and I wish him all the best for the future. Thankyou Marek.

all the best saga - will never forget the 2nd half of the playoff season, he was complete quality.

the benefit to this though is it will free up an enormous wage, so the money can go on 2 or 3 other additions in the future.

if what i was told was true, he was on up to 12k (inc. bonuses)

I almost feel sorry for him. No, I think I feel sorry for all the players that played for us for the few years until the beginning of this season.

Either way, he won't go down as a Saints legend, but has his hundreds of thousands of pounds, so someone's happy.

(I still think we're a striker light by the way...)

Poirot spoke French, he was a walloon.Although most government agents would now be required to be fluent in at least 2 of the 3 official languages practised in Belgium. How do I know this ? I dated a Belgian civil servant for a number of years, she did the best BJ in the history of mankind.

If her obvious attribute is down to beng trilingual, I might send my missus off for some language lessons. She already speaks two, English and Rubbish.

With our crap weather I rather envy him in Greece

Wishing you well and hoping you do well for your new club,as that t****r Wotte refused to play you and always favoured McGoldrick when you would have done a good job for us I should think your morale was as low as it is possible to get Good luck you are a very decent human being and deserve better.

Excellent news that he has been sold. He will quickly be forgotten.

Not by me. Wolves game of course. A month of so of hope last season when he came back from his enforced loan spell. But also - he scored on the final day against Sheff Utd the season before - it was not just the Stern John show!

It is great shame how it has worked out and its the right decision now, but I wish him well
