I have just listened to the FA Cup podcast on ITV.com and about 10 minutes into it Ned Boulting asks Clive Tyldesley, Gabrielle Clark and the ITV.com sports editor Richard Northen what the stand out ties were in the 5th round draw and Richard Northen reckons Man City v Stoke is the stand out tie.....WHAT????? he then goes on to say Chelsea v Cardiff has a nice look about it.....WHAT ?????? Ned Boulting then asks how he can look past Saints v Pompey and he acknowleges that it has a nice look about it, Gabrielle Clark then says its a stand out tie for only one part of the country! Clive Tydesley then goes on to say that Saints and Pompey like one another as much as Tiger and Erin, they then go on to talk about us in a nice way for about a minute. If other ITV sport decision makers think like Richard Northen and Gabrielle Clark then DONT bank on us v Pompey being on live.

Fine by me, 3 o clock on a saturday it is.

Whether it is on ITV or not, there is NO chance it will be anything other than a midday kickoff on police orders.

Bunch of gays. Like it's gonna stop people from drinking anyway.

At least if they are drinking in a pub they are easily contained.

Don't ITV show about 4 live games each round though? .We got 4 on France 4 last weekend, presume they all came from ITV as Sky only sell to Canal + usually.

Yep, I would think for this round they will have 2 Sat and 2 Sunday games.

The main point here will be whether the police insist upon an early kick off. If that is confirmed it will be odds on to be televised, as most other earlies have in the past. As there are no other ties likely to require an early kick off (with the possible exception of Wolves Villa), I would say there is a very high chance of the game being televised.

Agreed.

Their football league show was ghastly.

wasn't it the collapse of some ITV deal or other that put so many lower league clubs into financial difficulty? and yet they still show live football.

Haha, ask any football fan who knows something about football and they'd tell you that Saints v Portsmouth is the most attractive tie of the round for the neutral.

Yes, technically it is only important in one part of the country but isn't almost every game? Quite frankly anyone who knows anything about football knows that this is one of the most fiercely contested derbies in the country.

Christ, even neutral news reporters have been mentioning the rivalry of the two clubs and calling it the 'tie of the round'

They'd be stupid not to show it as its the only opportunity they're going to have of seeing a team from a lower division have a realistic chance of beating a team from the PL.

ITV should be banned from broadcasting football their whole approach to coverage is rubbish.

indeed. they've even got f***ng p1ss poor opening music! i mute the sound when that bollix comes on

Oh, and on another note I'd take everything ITV does with a pinch of salt - never forgot the 'digital' collapse which butt****ed alot of clubs in this country and their 'highlights' show which was 28 minutes long.

Yes, it was On Digital, which became ITV Digital, then went belly up. Caused financial havoc for a fair number of League clubs.

I watched Everton v Birmingham in the pub on Saturday. It said Setanta in the corner. Maybe the Irish Setanta.

That was a 3 oclock Saturday afternoon game.

Look the FA would not arrange for the tie to be drawn and then not televise it would they????

Anyone can see they way the balls fell, it was a fix.

Yep the way Mrs Moore fumbled that ball it must have just come out of the microwave it was so hot.

Over here, yes. The FA have been streaming ties on their website (I think originally they were supposed to be shown on Setanta). Setanta are showing them in Ireland and US.

Ahhh ****** I wanted the Sunday! :(

Police Officer on overtime ??

It's best this way, all those who have (foolishly in my opinion ,knowing full well that it was a cup weekend) booked Valentine's Day treats for their spouses ,can go to the match, get hammered, watch us crush Skate and then jet off to whichever idyllic destination they have chosen at approximately 1435hrs.
