If Gaddafi bought Southampton FC

Just heard this on talk sport while in the car. I just can't believe it how low can the club & Storrie sink. They had a a skate on trying to justify to Porkie Parry what a total plank. Its good for world relations an Israeli Manager & an Arab in Gaddaffi, we should have a spirit of forgiving(F**K-Wit). Try telling that to the people of Lockerbie & the family of Yvonne Fletcher.

The FA really ought to throw the towel in if this gets passed the Fit & proper person test.

I know we have some banter with the blue few, but this goes way beyond & I'd be disgusted if Saints were even to discuss such a move.

Is Libya registered with FIFA? If it is and whether we like it or not then Storrie and Co are well within their rights to approach who they like. We can't exclude individuals because of the past atrocities of their country or relatives over which they had no control at the time. Otherwise countries like Romania for example would not be in the football federation and many others and likewise wealthy owners from these countries.

I predict there will be many wealthy football club owners to come from China in the future and we can only guess at their potential human rights violations from their past. Seems to me this has nothing to do with Gadaffi's son and more to do with the saving of Portsmouth and we would be up in arms if Richard Branson rode in and saved the day. As for Mike Porky Parry he is paid to be sensationalist to encourage listeners to call in otherwise he has no show. It wasn't so long ago he was extolling the virtues of Storrie and their hospitality when he was as an invited guest of theirs at I presume a home game with Everton.

I'm well aware what Porky is & how he operates, just happen to agree today.

As for the Highlighted area, what a stupid stupid statement, if Branson where to come in & take over Pompey then good luck to him & them.

That is so far from the point its ridiculous. You obviously have no morals when it come to buisness obviously dont care where the money comes from or how its achieved.

The sad thing is that Gadaffi's son, their whole family, are one of the richest in Africa and have shown they are able to buy their way back into respectability against all past indiscretions.

I certainly wouldn't like to know he had bought Saints or even Pompey or any club in Britain. Yet, go back to last summer before Marcus Liebherr arrived on the scene I wonder just how many would have turned their nose up to his interest and wealth.

Son of Gadaffi is well known as a real football fanatic and I believe he has investments in a club or two in France and Italy. Does anyone know anymore on this?

He certainly had some sort of involvement at Perugia (I think) in Italy. They've never been shy of controversy or headlines, having sacked a South Korean player for scoring the goal that knocked Italy out of the 2002 World Cup and then attempting to sign a female player.

Well, according to the people who brought you The War on Terror, Gaddafi is one of our closest allies in the Middle East. Yeah right. And whilst the Lockerby bombing was most probably the work of Iran, you can’t ignore the human rights violations that take place in Libya, unless you’re BP of course then you can hop into bed with the Gaddafi’s before an American energy company does.

So whilst it seems absolutely fine for our government and our largest industries to bow down to Gaddafi, I wouldn’t want him touching the team. So to answer the original question, I think my reaction would be ‘goodbye football’.

Is it a stupid statement ? I could suggest you wishing Portsmouth good luck as a Saints fan is stupid, the fact it is suggested it could be Gadaffi provides us with more ammo than we could have wished for, look at how we have attacked everyone else associated to a takeover down there, as a country we now trade with Gadaffi so why should a struggling little club not do the same ?

I'd never go to a game or put any money into the club as long as he was involved.

THere's no way on earth this guy will buy pompey...

All this talk of investers is just to cerate the illusion of money coming in to stop creditors calling in their debts in the hope they will get paid off in full by a "new owner"

That's all.
