StuRomseySaint Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 Has anyone heard any rumours about where it might be this year? A bit premature I know, but I want to get my holiday for the year booked up, if it's anywhere decent I will do the tour. I am thinking / hoping that it will be Italy, with Cortese's contacts.
St.Patrik Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 It should be a tripp to Sweden and play Halmstad where Killer is the assistant coach - well thats my oppinion anyway : )
ladysaint Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 I dont care where it is as long as we get one this year.
StuRomseySaint Posted 26 January, 2010 Author Posted 26 January, 2010 It should be a tripp to Sweden and play Halmstad where Killer is the assistant coach - well thats my oppinion anyway : ) I would happily go to Sweden, I just hope there is a foreign pre-season tour of some sorts for Saints fans to make a holiday out of.
JRM Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 In the past they have announced dates in around April time, which is fairly short notice so hopefully somewhere that has plenty of budget flights, Italy would be good, or Switzerland as well. I remember reading a certain Everton lads book about a pre-season trip they did there when the flag was removed from the town hall sparking a hunt by the local police, they ended up hidiing it in Neville Southalls room. Halmstad in 2006 was one of the best away days I've ever done. Feyenoord in 2001 was good as well via the Dam.
oxfordshire_saint Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 They should go around the Swiss/Italian border and play sides like Bellinzona, Lugano and Como, lovely part of the world.
Dog Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 I have from a very reliable source that this seasons pre-season tour will be in Bangkok.

However, don't think they normally confirm stuff until quite late, May is usually the earliest they confirm anything if you're lucky.
dubai_phil Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 I have from a very reliable source that this seasons pre-season tour will be in Bangkok. No, that was the other lot up the road...
Elias Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 It's going to be North Korea. Believe me, I'm ITK.
Dog Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 No, that was the other lot up the road... That is where I am telling her indoors, ahem.
ericofarabia Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 I have from a very reliable source that this seasons pre-season tour will be in Bangkok. No, that was the other lot up the road... Due to budget restraints, after a fact finding tour by Avram, Skatesmyths pre season tour (if they still exist) will now be in Hedge End This way they can use their Eastleigh training ground and still get a taste of Oriental Pleasure.
ottery st mary Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 Wellow, Braishfield and North Baddesley......A vote of thanks to all our supporters from the Romsey area.
StuRomseySaint Posted 8 March, 2010 Author Posted 8 March, 2010 My money is on either Italy or Sweden. I hope for Italy.

Dont think AC Milan would be interested. What makes you think Cortese has any contacts with Italian Football Clubs as he worked in a Private Swiss Bank

What makes you think Cortese has any contacts with Italian Football Clubs as he worked in a Private Swiss Bank I thought he did have contacts in the Italian game... isn't that how we got Waigo?
RedAndWhite91 Posted 8 March, 2010 Posted 8 March, 2010 I thought he did have contacts in the Italian game... isn't that how we got Waigo? He is obviously held in high regard there, after getting offered a place on the board of AC Milan.
John B Posted 8 March, 2010 Posted 8 March, 2010 I thought he did have contacts in the Italian game... isn't that how we got Waigo? Dont know I think some people thought so but never been confirmed I think That was why I asked the question
Kaiser Soze Posted 8 March, 2010 Posted 8 March, 2010 I've done preseason to Sweden & Norway in the past and would definitely do another.
tonibell Posted 8 March, 2010 Posted 8 March, 2010 I have from a very reliable source that this seasons pre-season tour will be in Bangkok. That would be nice my sister lives there
John B Posted 8 March, 2010 Posted 8 March, 2010 He is obviously held in high regard there, after getting offered a place on the board of AC Milan. Are you sure as there are plenty of people who say not. I dont really no much about Cortese yet
RedAndWhite91 Posted 8 March, 2010 Posted 8 March, 2010 Are you sure as there are plenty of people who say not. I dont really no much about Cortese yet Only going on what I heard and saw on SSN, papers etc. Not entirely reliable I know, but I was sure that was the case.
irishsaint83 Posted 8 March, 2010 Posted 8 March, 2010 Maybe we should get a few pre-seasons away to Brentford, Tranmere, Exeter, Wycombe - of course, we would need to ensure that we paid them well for cutting up their turf during the summer especially for us !!!
sperm_john Posted 8 March, 2010 Posted 8 March, 2010 i heard the pre season tour is taking in the delights of the gaza strip ...
Nexstar Posted 8 March, 2010 Posted 8 March, 2010 Hope we do a pre-season tour of Magaluf. x2! But I just hope it is somewhere with poor pitches and that pardew focuses on this issue over the summer, it could be our nemesis next season.
dune Posted 8 March, 2010 Posted 8 March, 2010 I've always wanted to visit Syria, so Syria please Mr Cortese.
once_bitterne Posted 8 March, 2010 Posted 8 March, 2010 I've heard it will be Eastleigh, Aldershot and Swindon. Maybe you and Denzil can hire a caravan Stooey?
StuRomseySaint Posted 8 March, 2010 Author Posted 8 March, 2010 I've heard it will be Eastleigh, Aldershot and Swindon. Maybe you and Denzil can hire a caravan Stooey? Denzil gets car sick.
once_bitterne Posted 8 March, 2010 Posted 8 March, 2010 Denzil gets car sick. Such a shame that the Luton Constabulary didn't but that excuse.
StuRomseySaint Posted 8 March, 2010 Author Posted 8 March, 2010 Such a shame that the Luton Constabulary didn't but that excuse. He is a new man now since his ban was lifted, it's the other banned ones that are the problem. :-( It's ok though... if the tour is in Europe then anyone on a banning order can still go anyway!!! Wayhay!!! :-)
grammy Posted 8 March, 2010 Posted 8 March, 2010 Pre-season "friendly" at AFC Portsmouth in the BSP would be nice! Then fly off to the sun for a week of intense karaoke singing with Big Phil in Dubai. Character building stuff!!
ulstersaint Posted 8 March, 2010 Posted 8 March, 2010 Should be Ireland North & South - some games in Belfast and Dublin for the benefit of all Irish Saints. I recall that in the early 90s Saints played some pre-season friendlies in N Ireland, Linfield, Cliftonville and Bangor if memory serves me well.

Now that would be a good p1ss up. :drinkers: Gets my vote
mcjwills Posted 8 March, 2010 Posted 8 March, 2010 I thought he did have contacts in the Italian game... isn't that how we got Waigo? I heard it was part of the deal that AC Milan demanded that we gave them a pre season friendly when we borrowed Waigo. They could have played Manure or a really big club with bestest fans in the world , but have decided that they wanted a well run decent club and so have demanded that we play them.

Not sure if that post was meant to be taken seriously, but Papa is on loan from Fiorentina. JSYK
Denzil Posted 8 March, 2010 Posted 8 March, 2010 Such a shame that the Luton Constabulary didn't but that excuse. Hopefully the tour is in Bitterne and you can come and say hello.
woodsaint Posted 9 March, 2010 Posted 9 March, 2010 Should be Ireland North & South - some games in Belfast and Dublin for the benefit of all Irish Saints. I recall that in the early 90s Saints played some pre-season friendlies in N Ireland, Linfield, Cliftonville and Bangor if memory serves me well. As a northern irish saint, this idea def gets my vote. Was at the linfield v saints game at windsor park back in the 90s, pretty sure we lost but wasa gd day. I was onli bout 9, the memories lol.
Hamilton Saint Posted 9 March, 2010 Posted 9 March, 2010 No tour this year; the team will stay in So'ton - where the real fans are.
Saint in Paradise Posted 9 March, 2010 Posted 9 March, 2010 No tour this year; the team will stay in So'ton - where the real fans are. Rather a large area that, do you really mean Bursledon ?
niceandfriendly Posted 5 April, 2010 Posted 5 April, 2010 Italy would be a great shout. Wonderful country (well, most of it). Ireland another good suggestion. Can't believe I still haven't been there yet, ffs.
ladysaint Posted 5 April, 2010 Posted 5 April, 2010 Been trying to find out myself as normally do these, but have been told nothing yet been arranged.
suewhistle Posted 5 April, 2010 Posted 5 April, 2010 They should go around the Swiss/Italian border and play sides like Bellinzona, Lugano and Como, lovely part of the world. Oooh, yes please. Or anywhere in Piemonte. I'd be able to jump in the car and go and support. My women's team sometimes has training/pre-season training up in the mountains and being at 4500' is really good for the lungs and stamina training!
StuRomseySaint Posted 5 April, 2010 Author Posted 5 April, 2010 Been trying to find out myself as normally do these, but have been told nothing yet been arranged. I have been told it's all arranged... the person at the club I have been asking just won't bloody tell me! :-(
ladysaint Posted 5 April, 2010 Posted 5 April, 2010 I have been told it's all arranged... the person at the club I have been asking just won't bloody tell me! :-( Really I was told nothing arranged - perhaps they are trying to sneak away from us.
