eesti matty Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 just the one game v ipswich served ! http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/ Good news and a pleasant surprise.
keithd Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 staggered! but cool! what would you have preferred? to beat the skates or morgan have his 3 game ban reduced?
BARCELONASAINT Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 very happy with this. Just not sure how much good news involving Saints i can cope with after years of nothing but doom and gloom Let the good times continue!!!
Brussels Saint Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 Sense prevails!!!!! Shocker Great news and agree never saw it coming.
Minty Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1943956,00.html
JRM Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 I said after the game that it should never have been a red card, the mk dons player made an advance towards schneiderlin, not the other way round, he was therefore just defending himself. There needs to be some common sense and this is good to hear.
Avenue Saint Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 Beautiful!! What a joke that ref was.......
wightman35 Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 Jeez, when does that ever happen? Only when the FA review panel reckon that the ref was mugged or was a mug, so not very often! Let the good times roll.
JonnyLove Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 What the hell is going on. not only do we have a great ownership team, a Great Management team and improving playing team. cup runs and good results all over the place. A Great feel good factor. But to top it all off we are also wining appeals to the FA which lets face it would of lost and been hit with the whole squad being banned for 100 years before hand. I don't think I want this season to end.

oggiee Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 This must meen we are a top 4 club! Got the FA in our back pocket already...
paulwantsapint Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 At last we win an appeal over stupid card being shown The FA did owe us tho after Pruttons ban which the media impossed when has was fired up for battle
fanimal Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 You just know he will score the winning goal tomorow now!!
JonnyLove Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 I wonder if NC said to the FA. "You know those 10 points you took from us and we said we would not appeal. Well it's time to call in a favour"
Matthew Le God Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 I wonder if NC said to the FA. "You know those 10 points you took from us and we said we would not appeal. Well it's time to call in a favour" The Football League gave Saints -10 not the Football Association.
Red Alert Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 I wonder if NC said to the FA. "You know those 10 points you took from us and we said we would not appeal. Well it's time to call in a favour" I would be gutted if he made that call and all we got was Morgan back two games quicker.
SFC Forever Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 Bout time he scored for us. Let us hope that the same ref doesn't have us again this season or he could look for revenge.
SFC Forever Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 The Football League gave Saints -10 not the Football Association. The FA were told politely that pompeys books are due for another close inspection. Reminded them that Luton were hammered when such previous offences as mismanaging funds occured. Also asked if they were backing the pompey mismanagement.
Block 5 Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 You just know he will score the winning goal tomorow now!! I have been waiting for him to score any goal (and I've had a few bets too) and so far nothing.... nada...zilch....zip.
iansums Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 This must meen we are a top 4 club! Got the FA in our back pocket already... Does this mean if we are one-nil down we can get 'Pardew time'?
Saint J 77 Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 just the one game v ipswich served ! http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/ This is good news its little things like this that shows me things are starting turning about for the better for us. If this had happened last season it would not have been over turned, we probably would not have even appealed. Things are slowly turning in our favour. Could be a good sign for the Pompey match?
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 David Prutton's 500 game band from the 2004-5 season has also been overturned - as a result it would appear we were never really relegated and the last 5 years have all been a bad dream .
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 Strange this because there was a piece in the Echo last Thursday quoting Pardew saying the club would not appeal, especially as the 3 match ban could be extended to 4.
JonnyLove Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 This must meen we are a top 4 club! Got the FA in our back pocket already... Yes and when the rest of the prem implodes only chelsea, Man City, QPR Saints Spuds Villa Will be considered for any perks / added time and rights to feild weekended teams and slate all competitions for being needless and crap (apart from the title and europe)
Matthew Le God Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 Yes and when the rest of the prem implodes only chelsea, Man City, QPR Saints Spuds Villa Will be considered for any perks / added time and rights to feild weekended teams and slate all competitions for being needless and crap (apart from the title and europe) What makes you think QPR will have any success? Yes, they have rich owners, but they are idiots, sacked about 9 managers and haven't invested much.
krissyboy31 Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 Result!! I thought that the sending off was harsh but could see the referee (to the letter of the law) was correct! When I saw we appealed I honestly thought he might get an extra match added, didn't see the decision being rescinded coming, at all.
SuperMikey Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 Brilliant news, feel a lot more confident about the upcoming games now with him back in the side. Wotton and James didn't really work that well on Saturday. James and Schneiderlin tomorrow please Pardew.
St Marco Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 Hopefully the ref get's the other 2 game ban then, what a chump.
Gaucho Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 Strange this because there was a piece in the Echo last Thursday quoting Pardew saying the club would not appeal, especially as the 3 match ban could be extended to 4. Did the club actually appeal though? - I read it as the FA decided to review it and came to the conclusion all on their own. Is that possible?
John B Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 Hopefully the ref get's the other 2 game ban then, what a chump. The FA have upheld the red card but reduced the ban to one match
John B Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 Did the club actually appeal though? - I read it as the FA decided to review it and came to the conclusion all on their own. Is that possible? Not according to the Echo which could of course be wrong
wightman35 Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 :smt030we are also wining appeals to the FA I reckon the wining must have been a case of good Claret.
wightman35 Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 Hopefully the ref get's the other 2 game ban then, what a chump. You agree with my post12 then!
Window Cleaner Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 (edited) The FA have upheld the red card but reduced the ban to one match couldn't reduce it any more because he'd already served 1 match, they could have given him a get out of jail card for next time though I suppose. More importantly he won't get fined so much (because cards sometimes have a financial kick in the arse as well) either by the FA or by the club. Edited 25 January, 2010 by Window Cleaner
Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 From the FA site: The latest cases heard by Regulatory Commissions and charges issued. Monday 25 January 2010 Morgan Schneiderlin, Southampton FC Milton Keynes Dons v Southampton Johnstone's Paint Trophy, 20 January 2010 Dismissed for violent conduct Claim made that the standard punishment is clearly excessive Claim upheld, three-match suspension reduced to one-match
Saint_clark Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 Am I right in saying that this was with no appeal as well?
SNSUN Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 Good news. Until a new central midfielder comes in, we were looking a bit short in that area, although full credit to James and Wotton for Saturday.
John B Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 Am I right in saying that this was with no appeal as well? Seems so according to the Echo now http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1943956,00.html
VectisSaint Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 I wonder if NC said to the FA. "You know those 10 points you took from us and we said we would not appeal. Well it's time to call in a favour" Probably not because it was the Football League that docked us 10 points, and the Football Association who have rescinded the red card. You do realise there is a difference?
Under Weststand Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 Well didn't expect that from the FA a little bit of common sense for a change!
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 Probably not because it was the Football League that docked us 10 points, and the Football Association who have rescinded the red card. You do realise there is a difference? Excellent point ! - pity it was first made 25 posts ago . Do try to keep up old chap .
musesaint Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 Am i the only one on here that thinks, although the reff was aweful, that when a player raises his hands to another players face/neck and makes contact its a red card? Money talks? Needs to be looked at in context Should have been either a yellow for BOTH players ...or if not a red for BOTH ...the fact that Morgan got the only red for the incident may have influenced the Appeal But yes the ref was sh*ite
Saint_John Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 Beautiful!! What a joke that ref was....... On the night I thought he was completely rubbish as well. However the last time he was in charge of a Saints game was Feb 2008, do you remember the pen 4 mins from time ? http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/MatchReport/0,,10280~38703,00.html (With just under four minutes on the clock, referee Jonathan Moss stunned everyone by suddenly stopping play to consult his assistant before pointing to the spot to give Southampton a penalty. None of the Saints players had appealed, even the away fans tucked close behind that goal did not shout for it....) Looking at his other games as well I have the feeling that he is one of those refs who "knows the final score in the first min", and we beat him the other night because he had the game down as a draw (IMO).
benjii Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 I'm absolutely astounded by this outcome. Someone from inside tipped us off I reckon!
