This is a massive game for us, and one which we cannot afford to loose.

we're now only 3 pts off the bottom 4, to slide back into there again would finish any playoff hopes.

Agreed the team is more than cappable of winning this one, I think if we don't we should realistically accept we won't make the playoffs this year and concentrate on the cup! (and league survival of course)

The table is looking really scary right now. If we dont win this one then the play offs will be irrelevant. What will become a real possibility is a relegation battle. That hasnt seemed like an option for quite some time now :( Obviously the odds are in favour of avoiding this though with the squad we have.

Still, would people see this season as a complete disaster if we went down but did well in the JPT and FA cup...Reckon most people would so I feel the league has to be the priority (even over the Pompey game!).

Noones really discussed the effect going down AGAIN would have

Not wanting to be negative, of course... ;)

Yeh good point there liquidshokk Mate as we all would love to see Saints get in the Play-Offs which will have to be done by winning most of the games left and not see Saints Go Down which could also happen but we will see ;)!

We're clearly too good to go down, it's not even an issue as far as I'm concerned.

Im not so sure its not an issue. THREE points above relegation zone. Survival can not be an assumption.

Believe me, a few games ago I completely dismissed the idea too but we should have won the last two league games imo, so im a tad worried. Guess its all been shadowed by the JPT/FA CUP success.

Has the pre-match pub been identified yet?

Well I'm thinking of heading to the New Inn not far from the ground as I've heard it's not bad there but if not then I'l probably have one at the pub at the ground ;)!

You expected us to beat Colchester and Millwall away?

Incredible. Amazes me how some people can so easily dismiss the quality of other teams.

If we are as safe and good as a lot of people think we are then we would have won those games is what I'm getting at. I just dont think the risk of relegation should be dismissed. (With all the talk of play offs, JPT and FA cup it seems to have been). With the points being so close in the bottom half of the table its easy to think we are safer than we are.

Tonight will be a good idicator of where we are at now. If we win my (somewhat negative) view might change, but I cant help but feel it will be disastrous overall if we lose.

Not being intentionally negative. Just worried.

It seems some one says that before every match. I thought saturdays game indicated we are really CCC quaility side, but the match against Millwall showed we're not good enough for the play offs. Funnily enough boxing day showed we where good enough for the play offs:p.

I've already given up on the play offs to many teams above us need to have a bad patch for us to progress. On the other hand we will win enough to avoid relegation I'm sure. Top half of the table and the JPT final and I'll consider this season to have been a good one. Next year though I expect promotion (ideally automatic)

cant beat these...no hope against pompey

How's that work then? We beat Ipswhich who beat Conventry last week. That means we're better than Coventry. Skates only just beat Coventry after two attempts so are only just better than Coventry. So by my calculations we are as good as the Skates. Of course we lost to Colchester who where thrashed by Preston. So Preston must be loads better than the Skates but wait Preston only managed a 1-1 with Ipswhich:p.

The result of one match has no bearing on the results in another. Just depends how up for it both sides are on the day.

I have a spare ticket if anyone is interested. I can meet at the ground around 7.

Face value.

Is the ticket still available? Will struggle to make 7pm though

Might move Fonté forward and use Seaborne and Jaidi at the back. Can"'t really see AP changing tack on Gillett,

could I just say how impressed I am with the acute accent Window Cleaner has placed above the 'e' in Fonte. That shows thought and application. Full marks;)

Confirmed:

#saintsfc team vs Brentford: Davis. Otsemobor, Seaborne, Fonte, Mills. Antonio, James, Wotton, Lallana. Lambert, Barnard

so we put all that effort into getting morgans ban overturned, and he doesn't play.

maybe he has a knock?

we look solid at the weekend until he went off

I just thought he would be rested after playing both games

Today's formation is very positive

Who is on the bench?

Disagree, why leave out Jaidi and Thomas who were both excellent Sat.

With a large squad it is going to be difficult to play everybdy all the time and players like Jaidi need a rest and we need him against Pompey

Posted
Subs: Bialkowski, Harding, Thomas, Jaidi, Waigo, Holmes, Schneiderlin.

how many CCC teams would not want that bench? Real quality for back up

Posted
Thomas has fluid in his knee, Jaidi doesn't play when games are close together

Fair enough, didn't realise Thomas was injured. Still think Jaidi could manage 2 games in 4 days when he hasn't played for a couple of weeks though.

Plus we've still got Connolly and Hammond to return! Quality indeed!!

both on bench tho

So Thomas not injured then. Very poor decision to change 75% of a back 4 that played well together Sat IMO.

We was ****e at millwall so let's hope we get our usual 3-1's back.

IMHO I would prefer Jaidi with Fonte so that they can start to form a good partnership.

3-1 me thinks with a Barnard double and a lallana wonder goal.
