Based on the assumption that Rickie, Jaidi and Lallana will be rested, I would say something like:

Davis

Thomas - Fonte - Seaborne - Mills

Waigo - James - Morgan - Holmes

Barnard - Saga

Subs: Bart, Semi, Wotton, Antonio, Lallana, Lambert, Gillett

Really Dan Harding doesn't even get on the bench? Millis has had a couple of good games but Harding is still the better option I think. Waigo won't get on I really rate him but AP seems to be using him less and less (don't know why?). James and Morgan midfield is to powder puff I think, Wotton and Morgan I'd say. Saga -no chance.

Anyone know this?

i think you should try calling the ticket office, or call Brentford direct. We haven't sold out yet, and it did not say the game is all ticket, so should be able to pay on the gate.

you will certainly be able to get in the home end as they always pay on the door (going with a bloke from work) so that is your insurance option.

as i say mate, don't wear colours, the worst case scenario is going in the home end which is a guaranteed insurance option to see the game.

tickets were still being sold this afternoon, i dont think we are going to sell out. try giving the club a call.

Can you buy on the gate? Small chance I might get there if the day pans out right

Yes, Cash on the Gate.

I'm doing the same as I was too late with my ticket application.

Unfortunately I'll be in with the Brentford, but by all accounts they are a friendly bunch.

He's been on the bench the last two games, so there's no real reason why not. You could have said the same about Gillett and Holmes last week.

CHoosing a first team now is nigh on impossible. I really pity Pardew's position now.

This is a must win game, as the League is where we really need to concentrate our efforts.

For me, I'd have:

Davis

Thomas Fonte Jaidi Mills

Antonio James Wotton Lallana

Lambert Barnard

Subs: Bart, Seaborne, Harding, Waigo, Connolly, Holmes, Gillett

We're on a high currently too. We'll win this IMO, 1-0.

Quite right we need to stack some points up to ensure we do not get dragged in to a relegation fight.

The Pompey game would be nice to win but is fairly meaning less in the grander scale of things. It's the league for me, anyday !

lambert bernard

subs..bart mills/harding waigo antonio perry wotton otsembor

Tis the team I suspect will take to the field, aside from perhaps Waigo for Holmes. (Lallana to left)

Not sure Morgan and James have enough steel in midfield, although Morgan isn't as powder puff as he once was (I believe he's top of the clubs yellow card and red card leagues:eek:) I think we need Wotton next to Morgan. Let Morgan do the classy passing while Wotton concentrates on the defenvensive stuff. That leaves James on the bench.

I actually think James is a good player (not a popular opinion I know) but in this team selection I don't see a place for him. I see thomas is flavour of the month. After saturday his stock has risen with the fans I think.

From what Pardew said before Ipswich, sounded like he's resting both Wotton and Lambert against Brentford.

Well funnily enough saintrich I bumped into Lambert at Soton Airport Parkway Station this afternoon and I told him that I was going to the game tomorrow and I asked him that whether he'l be playing tomorrow and he said himself that he will more than likely play which is something but this is only on what he said but we will see ;)!

Also I am really looking forward to the game tomorrow and fingers crossed that we can get something out of it but a win would be Sweet though seeing as we need as many wins as we can if we want to get into the Play-Offs this season but we will see ;)!

Where's the best place to drink before the game too please?!

Thanks!

Come On Saints!

Really looking forward to tomorrow - tight little ground. probably have a sh*t view on the terrace but we'll see.

I envisage this being a bit of a dogfight and us setting up nice and tight that's what AP has intimated.

Typically we've gone 4-4-2 in games like this to bypass the midfield stalemate and lessen the reliance on Lambert for the outball - defensively, Brentford have been very strong this season- been esp impressed by Marcus Bean.

Maybe we'll start James on the right to give extra cover as we did at Walsall and Hartlepool - similar type games, though I wonder who that leaves in the middle, especially as we had Hammond for those two games. The game will be won and lost by our ability not to be overpowered there.

I definitely feel this is a game we can win comfortably if we play to our best but I'm worried that the distractions of the JPT and the Skates will be playing on their minds a bit.

------------ Davis

Thomas - Fonte - Jaidi - Harding

------ James ---- Wotton

Lallana ----- Morgan ---- Holmes

----------- Lambert

Bench: Bart, Semi, Perry, Mills, Antonio, and two of Barnard/Connolly/Papa

Not one person on their forum predicts a Saints win. Even had a 4-0 to the Bees scoreline predicted. Blimey.

Haven't you heard? We were in admin in the summer. We can't afford to put a decent team together.

At least, that's what most other fans seem to think.

Posted

Am I missing something with Jaidi? He has played once in 4 weeks, have we said he needs resting? Surely if he's easing himself back then he plays tonight and misses Saturday?

Tonite's game is considerably 'harder' than Saturday's and I hope we go with our strongest available team (which isn't Seaborne over Jaidi... ever!)

I would expect it to be

Davis

Thomas Fonte Jaidi Mills

Antonio James MS Lallana

Lambert Barnard

(possibly Wotton for Antonio and LJ right-mid)

Looks a decent side and we will need to be right on our game if we are to win.

LOL at those who say Lambert 'looks tired'; I've come to the conclusion that this is his default state of being, to me he doesn't look and play very much different to when we first saw him at Swindon ... he looked 'tired' that night. I'm fairly sure he will play every game till he drops; AP seems to be that sort of manager.

Looking forward to going to the game tonight! If Pardew is going to rest Lambert, I would do it on Saturday against Stockport, much easier game IMO.

Tonight will be tough, they are strong at home and the pitch will be rubbish, which will stop our passing game!

Still think we will win, but won't be as easy as some people think!

Posted

I hope the players are focused if they wanna be playing in the playoffs and maybe the championship they shud be because if we lose IMO we wont make playoffs we need a min of 4 points from are next 2 games if we want a good chance and to win both if we are serious.

Posted

I still think we should go 4 5 1. I said this before Ipswich too. I would go:

Davis

Thomas Fonte Jaidi Harding

James Morgan Lallana Wotton Holmes

Lambert

No way on earth should we start with Antonio or Waigo in a 4 man midfield, except in emergencies. Otsemobor might get the nod ahead of Thomas, and if we get ahead maybe rest Lambert by bringing on Barnard, but this will presumably require a different style of play.

Does anyone know the situation regarding tickets? I didnt think I could go to the game as I was skint but a mate of mine has given me the money he owed me and I can now afford to go. Does anyone know if they are letting Saints fans in on the door? I know if worst comes to worst I can go in the Brentford end but would obviously rather watch it in the Saints end as I'm not sure if I would be able to contain my feelings if we score! Many Thanks.

I have just spoken to both Saints and Brentford ticket office and apparently no away tickets are available at Brentford-you have to but them in Southampton!(although neither person seemed totally reliable!!)

Which for a fan who has re-arranged work at the last minute and who lives in Hertfordshire means it's the home end or nothing!! And I can't manage to stay quiet for 90 minutes, so I'll have to miss the game!

Don't miss the game just because you have to stand with home fans-we all have to keep quiet at times when we go under cover.

This is my 'home' game, a gentle stroll of about 1.5 miles to Griffin Park. Particularly looking forward to standing on the terraces !

Dont understimate the Bees, they are big, physical and quick - a touch of Millwall about them.

If you buy over the phone from St Mary's they will take the tickets up to the game on the supporters bus.

Apparently not ... my mate tried to do this yesterday evening (from Devon) ... and was told not possible... 'Brentford don't offer this facility' ... whatever that means?

strange how he shifts from he'll to he will without making any emphasis change though.

I always take a deep intake of breath before I start reading one of his posts.

A tough game this one tonight. Brentford are a good side at home & it will take a gutsy, determined performance by Saints in order to take all 3 points. I can see us having to dig in & really grind out a win. It won't be 'easy' that's for sure - but in reality - anything other than a win will be a massive knock-back and if we don't get all 3 points - it's as good as season over as regards making the play-offs.

Posted

Have two tickets available for the terrace £20 each. Can meet up there tonight if anyone is interested.

Have to win. Nine points from next three is essential, otherwise we're too far behind.

Have a mate who went to Brentford earlier in the season who says the pitch was a shocker. So could be hoofball :( and win ugly

Brentford have beaten all the top teams at home this season. This will not be an easy match and we will have to work hard. I can see AP going 4-1-4-1 from the start and hoping for a result like Hartlepool or Walsall who were also both decent at home before we played them.

I can see us either drawing a la Millwall or beating them by the traditional 3-1.

JB I am very interested but can only take one off your hands. If you are happy for me to take one at £20 then ping me over an email to sambosa75@yahoo.com

Cheers,

Sam.
