StuRomseySaint Posted 24 January, 2010 Posted 24 January, 2010 (edited) ... just been speaking to my Carlisle United STH cousin, he was asking what Lee Barnard was doing playing for us as he had signed for Leeds... I asked what he was on about... ... apparantly Leeds took the time to welcome Barnard to Elland Road in the matchday programme for the JPT Area Final against Carlisle. Woopsie. StuRomseySaint Posted 24 January, 2010 Author Posted 24 January, 2010 are you able to get a scan copy of it? I'm on the case! :-)
Colinjb Posted 24 January, 2010 Posted 24 January, 2010 If true, utterly brilliant! Arrogant, arrogant northern tw*ts.
Ponty Posted 24 January, 2010 Posted 24 January, 2010 No arrogance down here then? The Brian Stock thread, and the posts made on the Donny forum, springs to mind....
Colinjb Posted 24 January, 2010 Posted 24 January, 2010 No arrogance down here then? The Brian Stock thread, and the posts made on the Donny forum, springs to mind.... But, taking this on face value, we have NEVER gone as far as welcoming people we havn't signed yet in our program notes. There are levels of arrogance.
St Landrew Posted 24 January, 2010 Posted 24 January, 2010 If true, utterly brilliant! Arrogant, arrogant northern tw*ts. Didn't I read somewhere that Liverpool season ticket holders were being asked, by their club online, to purchase FA Cup tickets between Liverpool and Burnley, BEFORE their 4th round replay against Reading, which they lost..? Of course, nobody plays proper professional football south of Birmingham, except for those London clubs, do they.

Mention the Saints v Skates game and they think it's just a friendly meeting of neighbours for tea.
Ponty Posted 24 January, 2010 Posted 24 January, 2010 I'm not sure what's more arrogant; taking a deal for granted or stealing a player from under another's nose, at the last second, just by throwing more money at him. Neither of those things may have happened (for all I know) because we're still waiting for some evidence. It is funny though.... on face value.... but I'm sure we'd be pretty p*ssed off if it was the other way round.

I would say it's more arrogant to assume negotiation has concluded before the paperwork is signed sealed and delivered then to gazump.
hypochondriac Posted 24 January, 2010 Posted 24 January, 2010 No arrogance down here then? The Brian Stock thread, and the posts made on the Donny forum, springs to mind.... But he might sign...
Ponty Posted 24 January, 2010 Posted 24 January, 2010 But he might sign... I actually hope so. Would he be cup-tied, btw? I don't imagine he is, and I hope not, because no one would try harder against Pompey than a Southampton lad - regardless if his childhood team were ManUtd or not.
Ponty Posted 24 January, 2010 Posted 24 January, 2010 I would say it's more arrogant to assume negotiation has concluded before the paperwork is signed sealed and delivered then to gazump. You've never been gazumped then? It's f***ing annoying.
Colinjb Posted 24 January, 2010 Posted 24 January, 2010 You've never been gazumped then? It's f***ing annoying. I have in business. I've also seen a few colleagues 'do a Leeds' in that respect.
Ponty Posted 24 January, 2010 Posted 24 January, 2010 I have in business. I've also seen a few colleagues 'do a Leeds' in that respect. Yeah, I'm not sure it's arrogance though, rather "Jumping the gun"... Something we've probably all done. It does make me lol at the thought of the editor of the programme shouting, "Erm... Have those programmes actually gone for printing yet?"
oxfordshire_saint Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 I've got to see a picture of this!!!
StuRomseySaint Posted 25 January, 2010 Author Posted 25 January, 2010 I've got to see a picture of this!!! You may have to wait till Monday/Tuesday ... unless I can find it on the net.
