Ticketing for P*mpey game?

The new customer charter specifically deals with this issue:

• Ticket prices for cup competitions will be agreed with the opposing

club and published fully using the available club media. For home

cup fixtures, season ticket holders will be given a priority period

to claim their seat. Other tickets will be sold as published at the

appropriate time

Therefore I think we can safley say that ST holders will be offered ONE ticket (their own).

Sooner or later someone will actually read the above.

But there again...........

doubt it to be honest because there are too many STs in existence for it to be viable.Perhaps adult ST holders will have a chance to buy 2 but they won't let it happen for Junior STs, doesn't make economic sense really. The OS says there are in excessof 12500 sts,500 or so more may get sold this week so proposing 13000+x2 places plus nearly 5K to skates just won't work because of the segregation that there will have to be, boxes, hospitality etc.

Bear in mind that probably 8k or so will actually take up their option of 2 tickets, meaning about 20k will go to STH's, 4500 skates... still leaves about 7k for a general sale... more than enough.

The idea that season ticket holders would be able to buy extra tickets on behalf of people who may not have been to a Saints game for months/years/ever rather than offer them to people with a proven history of attendance (be it home or away) is bonkers, imo.

If I could get another ticket on my ST it would go to a Saints fan who has been going eg a non ST holder who has attended this season.

only 8K taking up 2 tickets for Skates?? I very much doubt that.

There will be a black market for tickets and everybody knows it. The OB will ask the club for extra controls on ticket sales and that can't be if every ST holder has a chance to buy an extra ticket and dispose of it as he or she wishes.

It worked for united last year because we had far less STs and we were crap,we still got a full house. It being Skates changes everything. So don't be too disappointed if you just get your 1 guaranteed (by the charter) seat and have to scrap for the extras like everyone else.

I would like to know where all these people that are complaining about ST holders having two tickets each were when the going got tough, I have had my season ticket for 10 years and never left when times were bad, bet alot of people cant say the same on here ,and Season Ticket Holders were never given the reward that they were promised for being loyal even when you were sat next to some people that had paid a £1 for their ticket, its about time ST holders got something back for their loyalty though I do appreciate you dont have to have a season ticket to be loyal, I for one would get my two if offered and make sure it went to someone passionate about Southampton Football Club and not just there for the day out

when the time has been finalised, the discussions with skate over pricing and the say so of the OB have all been finalised. Don't be surprised if ticket prices rocket to £28 or even £30, keep the riff raff out like;)

Ticket pricing will be interesting actually. Pompey will want it set as high as possible.

I'm certainly not complaining, I'm saying it probably won't be do-able.

I am so excited by the prospect of this match. I live in Australia but for the next 6 months I am studying in Sweden. I've been planning to go and watch my beloved saints for the first time, and this seems like the perfect opportunity. I don't have a season ticket, only a true love for my team. I'm 22, up for a beer or three and would be happy to take anyone who can help me out with getting a ticket, out for dinner to show my appreciation. Anybody who may be able to help me? If the match is on the 13th of February, I'll be flying in on the 12th from Stockholm.

Thanks so much,

Rob.

Bit of a connundrum for the skates then .... NO RIFF RAFF.... 4500 unsold away tickets = lost revenue :D

Why is it that people seem to think that season ticket holders do not have friends or family who have attended games this season regularly but are not season ticket holders themselves?

Exactly. Mine and my brothers extra tickets would be going to my dad and the bloke who used to run Weymouth Saints, taking a coach load of people to every game.

Whatever way they do it will upset some. ST holders should only get 1 ticket each in my opinion as the ticket offive will sell on a restricted general sale to keep the police happy. There could be 12k tickets who they will have no control over. It is too sensitive letting these tickets go to anyone. Looking at it from a safety point of view from the old bill.

they will have control as will be registered against someones season ticket!

But as a season ticket holder i agree 1 per season ticket is the fairest way

Of course they do, but the point is no-one knows, lots will give/sell to genuine Saints fans that they know, but plenty of tohers will bring friends and family along who are just excited because its a big game. Stupid getting rid of memberships this, as that would help things, plus do something like anyone with over 10 games agianst their customer number (or whatever). Never get why people don't ensure their tickets go against their customer number.

As somebody has said, allowing season ticket holders to buy a second ticket would ruin the principal behind restricted sale. The club don't want any tickets being sold that are going to be used by unregistered fans.

This is why they will start with season ticket holders and then create some sort of criteria based on purchase history this season. This is the safest and fairest way of ticketing.

What seriously ****es me off is, if we played at their s**thole we'd get what, just over 1.5k, maybe 2k, when they come to ours they get 4.5k. Despite us having more season ticket holders and fans than them. SHould limit their allocation to 2k any extra segregation needed comes out of their allocation.

Isn't that a bit of an oxymoron? ST holders would ensure that any additional tickets purchased against their own STs were for their SFC friends / colleagues. I've had numerous requests for my spare two tickets I'll have from Saints and Skate mates alike. Obviously it'll be going to Saints friends.

I've got a feeling it's going to be a midday kick off :)

FA rules, I'm afraid. The away club get 15% of the available seats.

A good idea imo would be to sell tickets in the following way:

1 ticket per ST holder.

1 ticket for anybody on the database that goes to Stockport game next Saturday.

1 extra ticket per ST holder.

General sale of whatevers left.

Gurantees a sell out for Stockport & with MK Dons & then the skates pretty much gurantees 3 consecutive full houses.

Definitely a good idea to boost the Stockport crowd, that's a pretty important match as well.

My feeling is that we should avoid risking herpes and swine flu, by selling the Pompey fans 10,000 tickets at a tenner a pop, segregate them outside the ground in a caged area, with a couple large screens, showing the match live and then keep them in, for a couple of hours after the game, hopefully during which time there will be a hailstorm.

The club should then provide us with 20-30 wheelbarrows full of stones, which we will hurl at them, as we walk past. I always say that you should always try to repay someone's hospitality...

Yes but the club have no idea who would be actually using the 'second' ticket. All they know is that it was originally purchased by a season ticket holder before being passed on to any Tom, **** or Harry. I guess they could always trace it back to the purchaser if it came to dishing out bans though.

However, I still think allowing fans with a particular purchase history to buy tickets, before allowing season ticket holders to buy extras, is fairer. Allow season ticket holders to buy spares and I believe you'd see the majority of season ticket holders taking up their second ticket on the basis of giving it to 'a mate'. It's the people who have gone to the games who are the most deserving, not those who are friends with people who have gone to lots of games.

All IMO of course.

I'd be surprised if the club are allowing any new registrations, if they have any sense they'd have refused from as soon as the draw was made.

It's not so much the new registrations, but I think the tickets left after season ticket holders have got theirs will be going to existing registered customers who fulfil other specific conditions, e.g. attended all FA Cup games so far etc.

there are a few pompey fans with an SO postcode who are planning to get on the SFC data base to ensure they are in with a shout to tickets...

You do come out with some sh!t Dulldays.

Any Pompey fan would last 2 seconds in the Saints end before being put on their arse if they were in with Saints fans.

Pompey will have more than enough tickets for everyone who wants to go, to go.

In all honesty, I can see them not selling out the extra allocation... we shall see.

Nineteen Canteen is an anus, ignore him.

Pat you appear to have been watching to much South Today and all that intelligent comment they garnered from the general public on the game. Still no doubt you're right but I can't help thinking that given all this ticketing angst and giving Pompey the chance of a ray of light in their season of doom and gloom it may have been better for all of us if we had drawn Reading at home and marched confidently into the 6th round and let someone like Chelsea bury Portsmouth.

I can't help thinking this game will do more to damage our slim play off chances as everyone connected with the club has one eye on the 14th Feb and the last thing we will need is a draw and removing all our jingoism a draw is perhaps the most likely result. We should not forget they have beaten teams a lot better than us this season despite their predictament and watching us lose will be hard to take esepcially as many seem to think they are the underdogs.

anyone that gives a ticket away to a JCL at the expense of a loyal saints fan that has been going during the **** times should be ashamed of themselves. I know if i get two on my season ticket they're going straight to mates that haven't got season tickets but make every game.

This one isn't a game for plastics or tourists, if you're coming (or helping someone come along) then it's your duty to make sure they're a hundred percent committed. Since if even one fan that goes regularly misses out to a jcl then you're not a real saints fan.

I was having a conversation with a mate who's a Leeds fan. Since they played Man Ure they've found it difficult to motivate themselves for the bread and butter games against noddy League 1 minnows. I think the same could well happen with us in lieu of the Pompey game and the JPT.

I do however think we have a very good chance of causing an upset in the Pompey game. They ae obviously favourites, but between now and the fixture they will lose good players so we will be playing an unsettled team.

It's quite simple.

STH can buy their own ticket plus one other provided they supply the other persons Customer Number.

The only downside to this is that the STH may have been buying all the extra tickets for the other person on the STH account.

Hmmm...maybe I shouldn't post so early........

Every game we play I wish I could be there and sit and watch the results coming in, I am a passionate Saints fan and have been for 30 yrs since my father first took me to the Dell. I used to hold a season ticket for 10 yrs but my situation has changed.

I now live a lot further away, I have less disposable income and I have a family which makes it very hard for me to attend games. I have to choose over the season which games to attend because of this.

I will do my damndest to get a ticket for this game and I can't wait to get the chance to see my beloved saints again but if for me going someone else doesn't it is ridiculous to state that I'm "not a real saints fan" and to be honest I don't care.

I hate all this "I'm a better fan than you because I'm able to attend more games than you." I chose to be in my current situation but that does not mean I shouldn't get a ticket if I fancy going. There will be a lot of people taking there partners who may not be as committed as you should they also not be able to attend?

It is a ridiculous thing to say and at the end of the day it's about filling the ground and cheering the team on.

Shut up. I shall take who I like to the game! It's my decision.

This is my point exactly, no one apart from season tickets is guaranteed a ticket to the game and for people to sit and try to dictate who they should take and who should be allowed tickets is stupid, this is a public event and if i get through and get a ticket at someone elses expense thats the luck of the draw!! If I don't i'll be either at home or in the pub watching it thats how it works.

I haven't been to St Mary's yet this year a small child and a wife who works weekends has stopped that but makes me no less entitled to try for a ticket than someone who goes every week and if I get 2 tickets i'll take who I want!!
