Ticketing for P*mpey game?

There should be no family section on derby day...

What and miss the the the most embarrassing, and yet funny, thing ever at a Saints v Skates derby: when we played that League cup evening game. Sat in Team Saints corner with all the stands peppered with the dispersed Northam naughty words boys. When the p*mpey chimes went up and the rest of the stadium responded I turned to see my then 10 year old daughter standing pointing to the skate fans singing "Fk off p*mpey!, p*mpey Fk off!" along with the masses.

Got the news in Melbourne very early morning and couldn't believe it! If any season ticket holder could help me with getting a ticket I would be eternally grateful. Will pay any amount. However I came over for 7 games last season and saw 2 draws and 5 losses so I could quite possibly be a jinx. Already have flights picked out so any help or advice on securing a ticket would be more than helpful. My email is trevf_101@hotmail.com

Thankyou! COYR

anyone who wants a ticket won;t find it too hard. Last time we played the skates in the FA Cup at St Marys it didnt even sell out. I know we played them twice that year etc, however a lot of people are put off going, eg families with young children. so dont worry to much about getting a ticket.

There's no need to mess about. Season ticket holders have priority for there own seat, then anyone with a purchasing history. Simples.

Agreed. I can't see any ST holders being guaranteed anything other than their own seat for the game - as per previous years I believe? As there are no memberships this season - the club are going to have to come up with a scheme that's both fair & just for all those that have gone to home/away games thus far. Quite how they will work it out (what criteria) I have no idea - but either way - there are going to be many many disappointed fans!

It'll probably be the same as United last year, 2 per season ticket holder, then general sale for those on the databse. I'm a season ticket holder, so I'll be fine, but I think its unfair season ticket holders gettting two. IT should eb season ticket holders get one, then those with say 10+ games against their customer number this season and down from there.

Also I take it they won't have the whole of the Chapel end as a family centre? Bit of a waste that. Go back to the old Chapel/Kingsland corner I think.

nope it will be:

Chelski

Sperms

Man City

cos they have the mostest massive fan base of armchair fans, especially the first 2 to guarantee the biggest TV advertising revenue, and they are also the only teams left for ITV commentators to get there heads up the backsides of............................ Jeez I have to get a ticket just to avoid listening to that pillock Peter Dreary for 90 odd minutes.

I hope its only one per STH else there'll b 10,000 women and kiddies coming for a fun day out to see the horrible ****s from ****ville like united last year.

How do you come to that conclusion? Any ST holder who buys an extra ticket for someone who isn't a Saints fan is an idiot IMO.

Exactly my point. You could see in the crowd at that united game last year that there were people who rarely or never went to matches, but came to watch just because of the opposition. We all know that wont be the case against these tossers but it always worries me that tickets will go to people who come along once every couple of years for a big game rather than those passionate souls who might not be STH.

Well from my point of view (living in Weymouth) there are plenty of passionate souls who can only come along a couple of times a year because they just can't afford to travel so far.

I'm agreeing with you FFS. I only get along to 8-10 games a year as i live in London, but it annoys me to think that loads of seats will go to people who never go, i dont mean once or twice a year, but people who literally have never been before. As long as SMS it full of loud, passionate people who get behind the team i'll be a happy boy. Especially if there from Weymouth.

Bit like the silly mare sitting behind me on Boxing Day. Turned round and asked her boyfriend where Bradley Wright-Philips was!! She also started singing about Jesus. Her boyfriend informed her that he no longer played for us, but she said she would sing it anyway because she really liked him.

We had a couple of blokes who wittered on like a couple of fish wives at the same game "oooo have you seen Billy he's put on some weight recently", "who's that?". "Antonio I think". "Has he scored for us yet?". "Saw Tommy the other day, his wifes left him for the milkman". "Davis looks a bit dodgy". " What Milky the Milkman?". Thank god they never came back after half time, probably felt more at home watching Sky on the concourse.

There is only one way to guarantee a ticket for this game.

Go buy a ST.

The following is from the new customer charter:

• Ticket prices for cup competitions will be agreed with the opposing

club and published fully using the available club media. For home

cup fixtures, season ticket holders will be given a priority period

to claim their seat. other tickets will be sold as published at the

appropriate time.

Not the same type of stupidity, but I remember last season the whole Northam giving poor Kelly Youga from Charlton all amounts of stick because they though he was Linvoy Primus.

It wasn't until he was stood right infront of them at one point with his name visible that they realised it wasn't Linvoy.

A good idea imo would be to sell tickets in the following way:

1 ticket per ST holder.

1 ticket for anybody on the database that goes to Stockport game next Saturday.

1 extra ticket per ST holder.

General sale of whatevers left.

Gurantees a sell out for Stockport & with MK Dons & then the skates pretty much gurantees 3 consecutive full houses.

In the previous derby games at saint marys the demand has been high, but generally anyone who wanted a ticket was able to get one. We often forget that our ground has over 10,000 empty seats every week. It will sell out, but after having gone on restricted general sale to those on the system.

Don't worry. That is unless they introduce a stupid season ticket holders get two tickets system. Some would just buy spares for the sake of it. Pointless.

if 12500 STs take two each plus 4800 for Pompey, free range tickets will be fairly scarce. They will make a killing on hospitality because they'll probably be the only places freely available.

I haven't had a season ticket for a few years now, but still go to most home games - even more so now that I live in Northam a stones throw away from the ground.

I have been to every previous P***smouth derby at St Marys, the two league games, Carling Cup and FA Cup and at no point was there a problem getting a ticket even when we were a relatively successful Premier League side. Maybe this is because a lot of people particularly families don't fancy it with the threat of trouble, but I am confident of being able to get a ticket.

I would imagine it would be televised, it is easily the pick of the ties out of the whole draw, some really dull sounding matches perhaps with the exception of a possible Villa/Wolves derby. That should increase the chances of getting a ticket, too.

I got tickets for both away prem matches and I am not a ST holder.

I think there will be tickets to go around for most people. It will be on TV no question. ITV are showing four games per weekend as they are the only broadcaster so that will free a few up plus there is the violence issue which will put some off. But to be honest if you dont go looking for it there is no problem. Though both trips to Pompey were pretty tasty apparently though we were kept in the gorund for a least an hour so didnt see any of it!!

I think it might involve queuing early doors or hitting redial endlessley but if you put the effort it you should get rewarded. Bet the club wish they had the membership in place!!

If David Luker gives two tickets per season ticket i will not be happy. Fair enough that season ticket holders get first pick, but to then let them get another ticket for a fan that chooses to crawl out the woodwork is not fair.

As to the database i've only got 3 home games on it, plus lots of away games. If David Luker is going to be fair he will recognise away games and not just count home games.

That all said we've been here before and Pompey isn't as desirable a fixture for many as it's hyped up to be. Many families always give it a miss and historically tickets have been available to all that want to go. I remember the last two visits to Fratton Park and tickets went to general sale in the end.

Why should you get a ticket because you've been to lots of away games and a mere handful of home games. Away games unless they are in the Cup add nothing to the club's coffers so why reward those fans over those who have paid to see all 23 home games and probably more.

I would hope the club give 2 tickets to ST holders to reward them for their upfront investment well before we knew how successful the season could be and those who had the foresight and commitment to buy a half season ticket. Also, lets not forget families of ST holders also have to rely on thier support and agreement to spend a fair chunk of the family budget on Saints so it is only right the ST holder has a chance to repay one of his family with a ticket which is only an option to buy afterall and many will decline that option anyway.

So I would hope the club would reward all ST holders with the right to buy their ticket and an option to buy another 1 at the same time. Thereafter, tickets should be awarded to fans on the database for home games and priority given on a sliding scale of matches attended.

Then they can reward fans who for some reason only attend away games and if there is any left put them on general sale. For those who have only bought tickets on the door when they knew the membership scheme had been cancelled then I'm afraid you have been caught with your pants down and you can't buy an insurance policy after you have crashed your car.

We have around 13,000 ST holders and this thread suggests they are happy with their position as lets face it critical must see games like this are very rare events so it's not just a question of recognising thier loyalty for this season but all the seasons for which they have paid their dues upfront to support the club and insure themselves for this eventuality.

To those not on the database and a poor home attendance please stop your moaning and form an orderly queue when it's your turn.

You may even find with the increase of trouble at Saints games this season that on Ploice advice thet may even shut Block 1 and even 2...to have a wider gap for segregation. That will lose maybe 1,500 tickets!!!

You might be right. Although this season hasn't been too bad, last season is the one which did it for us. I Wouldn't be surprised if that did happen. Would only have ourselves to blame as well.

You make some valid points, but whilst going to the away games adds nothing to the clubs coffers, it shows that you are willing to go that extra mile and spend a fair amount of money in some cases to support the team in places where they need it.

Our away support this season has been fantastic and it'd be nice if they recognised the non ST holders who have contributed.

I've been to most of our home games, pretty much all were bought on the door and I've been to 5 away games (6 after tomorrow). Whatever the club decide to do for non-ST holders I will accept, but I will do my best to get a ticket, if I don't, I'll sit and scream at my TV.

In fact we probably now have too many ST holders for them to be offered

the chance of buying 2 tickets for the cup game. The maths just wouldn't work out because we will have to give Pompey at least 4880 tickets.

So it'll be 1 for each ST, about 4.8K for Pompey thus leaving 12/13K for general sale, prioritised of course for regulars.

Some of what you have said might be fine....if you had not ruined it with this. Are you being deliberately provocative or what? People who go to lots of away games and maybe just a few home games spend plenty more than many ST holders do, in terms of cash, time, petrol, taking time off work and frankly commitment. Trekking up and down the country this year has been pretty good, given the amazing support we have had, the atmosphere we generate and the relative success, but in the early months it was shocking, as are some of the grounds and facilities.

I applaud ST holders (I was one for many many years) and they should get priority, but for you to question the value of our fans who travel up and down the country is nuts

Seriously though, I agree with most of what you say.

However, the new customer charter specifically deals with this issue:

Therefore I think we can safley say that ST holders will be offered ONE ticket (their own).

As a season ticket holder I want the privvy of being able to buy extra tickets.

I hope and expect this will be the case.

doubt it to be honest because there are too many STs in existence for it to be viable.Perhaps adult ST holders will have a chance to buy 2 but they won't let it happen for Junior STs, doesn't make economic sense really. The OS says there are in excessof 12500 sts,500 or so more may get sold this week so proposing 13000+x2 places plus nearly 5K to skates just won't work because of the segregation that there will have to be, boxes, hospitality etc.
