Deano6 Posted 18 September, 2008 Share Posted 18 September, 2008 and that makes you cool, hes been a solid player you lot need to shut the **** up. as my friend said always need to blame some one huh seem to like the right backs who would oyu rather have JW or LJ you lot really are unreal **** me All the those who have been in support of young Lloyd that I have heard have talked about how well he gets forward and provides the attacks. That's all well and good but he's a defender first and foremost, and he offers very little protection at the back. He is visibly scared when the ball comes in the air under pressure and will always let it bounce. His positioning is poor and he has been at fault for many of the goals I have seen us concede this season. If he's good in the attack then play him in midfield. I've nothing against the guy and think he will develop into a good player, but he's not what we need right now. I would play Cork at right back. egg Posted 18 September, 2008 Share Posted 18 September, 2008 I have seen this lad develop over the last few years and have been impressed. It's just just that every time I have seen him play it has been as a holding CM or occasionally at CB - never RB. I like the current managers ideas and salute the attempt to bring through youth, but to ruin the confidence of a good young player by playing him out of position is criminal. I agree that on the whole he has been poor this season, but take my hat off to the fella for giving it a go in a position that is alien to him. If we have any CB cover then I would move cork to RB. If not we have no alternative but to persist with James or chuck in another kid, Hatch (who I think has real future and is a natural RB) or Thomson who has loads of real talent and is a raw talent. Whats the lesser of 3 evils? James defo has a future at the club - just not at RB. Poor kid.

The blame must lie with the management for not addressing the problem over the summer.
NickG Posted 18 September, 2008 Share Posted 18 September, 2008 I wonder what the plan is or what discussions have been made. Heard JP say the Surman is not natural LB and is playing out of position but won't be there all season - are they waiting for someone, or for funds to be ready or for a younger player to develop? Exactly - I have nothing against him and i'm sure he is effective in his own position. However, you need different attributes to play in different positions and he just doesn't have the ones needed to play RB.

I would prefer him at full back. However in defence of James, Thompson gave him cover, White and McGoldrick didn't. Svennson covers him but the other CBs didn't. This is all part of team play. Being isolated with the nearest cover 30 yds away makes a defender pretty easy to beat if the players are quick.
