Saints vs Pompey!! - Reaction Thread

Would rather have drawn them later in the competition or not at all. Their club may be in the deepest sh!t imaginable, but they will be stern opposition, have no doubt. I will cheer like a loony, if we win the tie, but I would rather someone else beat them, and we had got an easier draw.

Sorry to be a bloke who doesn't jump on the bandwagon.

Can't fecking wait.

We deserve this. All those people (including me) who travelled to the biggest **** holes last year to see us get beat with the fecking muppet regime we had in charge. It is Karma. They took the **** out of us when we were down and now hopefully will get their comupence (is that how you spell it?)!

Those people saying it is a bad draw, come on....

We are a good team that will be better with players coming back from injury etc.. They are a team that will likely be worse by kick off time. A team who are already bottom of the Prem league. A bunch of nobodies who by the sound of things want out, i can't see them putting in the same passion as our lads.

COYR let's show these blue few the real pride of the south!

It would be the ultimate humiliation for the skates if they went into admin, we got the bye and then went on to Wembley! Utter dream. However, as someone else said above, it does not matter if we lose in a way - they are Prem and we're L1 - so no disgrace. Their team will probably be decimated by then, players left will be peeved at not being paid on-time again...etc etc. We need to enter into this one just happy that we're on the up and they're on the down and enjoy what will be an immensely enjoyable days footie.

Queueing up for the stairs at the ground yesterday when the results were being read out then "Pompey 2 Sunderland...1" boooo...a little downside to the day...then the old man turns to me and says Pompey at home next round then! And lo it was so.

Can't wait for this one!

Wow Poopey at home. They will not like that at all.however we have gor to beat MK Dons first so that we already have trip to Wembley and psychologically we want to play them full of confidence. Despite Premier v League 1 I think we will be favourites as we we will be their faces and I predict a two -one victory ... as last time in the FA Cup.Incidentally have we ever lost to them in the CUP?

Totally agree with you.

The problem is of course, that fate doesn't work that way.

I think it is great, (sure I think we are odds on to lose it), but for a while we will be really back in the national spotlight, those other muppet fans or poor journos around the place who keep saying "cash strapped Southampton" will finally get to see what we have been keeping to ourselves for the past months - namely that we really are rebuidling and on our way back.

As others have said, it's a win : win game for us. We lose, we'll have had a lot of laughs, we win......

Straws, Camels and Backs spring to mind for the embattled remaining few

Awesome draw, 50/50 shout with us at home, could not ask for any more.

[Let us hope our fans behave, and make the club, and especially ML proud].

This will be a bloodbath. With Pompey in the **** and Saints having just emerged from it do you really expect our fans to keep a lid on it? Not saying I condone violence, just that it's going to happen, no matter what the police plan!

Don't understand why some people think Pompey won't exist in 3 weeks. They may be in admin, but I seem to remember that didn't stop us existing. Even if (and its a big if) HMRC are successful with their winding-up order, Pompey will at least appeal. They will exist in 3 weeks time, they may be in admin and minus 9 points but there is zero chance that we will get a bye. They may also have their transfer embargo lifeted this week.

I know I'm not the only one, but really I would rather have not got Pompey this season. If we get beat can you imagine the stick we will get, and whether you like it or not they can still beat us comfortably as they did yesterday against Sunderland.

Got to make St Marys a wall of noise....their boys are gonna feel the furnace of Saints fans pent-up five years of anger and resentment. Win, lose or draw, this will be a great game for us and could be the springboard to galvanise everyone for that push towards the playoffs!!

What a sh*tty comment about not jumping on the bandwagon, this is what it's all about, some people just don't get it.
