Opinions & Advice please - LCD or Plasma

Right, I am going to purchase a 42" HD TV, I think 1080p is the way to go but which, in your esteemed opinions, is the better. LCD or Plasma?

 

I'm on a budget and really don't want to go over £700 as I want to get the kids a PS3 (and all the stuff with it). So I'll not need a Blu-ray player.

 

I await your verdicts.

Most AV types would say Plasma at that size, I think its all down to personal preference, I would go and have a look round some shops and see what you like the look of. I assume you would watch a lot of sport so I would look for something with a refresh rate of 100 hz or more to reduce motion blur and judder.

i got a 50 inch panasonic plazma from amazon just before christmas for £640. very happy with it

Thanks for your input so far. I don't want to go larger than 42" because of the space allocated for the TV, it would throw the balance of the room out.
