There will be one more singing to replace Melis,as stated just a few moments ago on Solent.

he said there would certainly be one to replace mellis, maybe a hint that another is possible since we have all these extra matches..

didn't we have a player training with us, out of contract ex Coventry? name escapes me or does signing Barnard mean he's been released?

Stock, Danns or maybe we could buy a Pompey player and get paid to take him !!!!!!!

The way he said "certainly one more" seemed to me that the option was there for a 2nd further signing if needs be...although personally I'd rather us get another midfielder in and then use the loan market as/when required.

No. No more loans.

Let's have a bit of longer-term planning. Pardew knows who he wants, let him sign them.

Depends really, if we want to improve the team (i.e Lambert, Fonte etc.) then buying would be smashing. But if its for the squad then a loan will do no harm because long term we are looking at varying levels of quality.

I think we should very publically make some offers for Pompey players.

Just for giggles.

But what if it all went wrong and we ended up with one?

It's all very funny until someone ends up with a skate.

There must be something in the fact that Gillet played as a sub today and hasn't signed for Donny yet. If he staid here he would be would be at best 5th choice CM and he is very clearly not fancied by AP. So is it unreasonable to assume that we will not release Gillet until we have got a deal made for Stock?

I'm sure Pards realises that we desperately need a good, solid central midfielder as back up for Hammond and Schneiderlin. Not easy to come by though.

how about buying Miachael Doyle from under Leeds' nose or is that not possible?

i like him, but he really divides opinions up in leeds.

he is their Wotton (in terms of how he's seen by their fans, not as in type of player) - I've seen threads on him on their forums (before we were due to play them) ''we wont go up with doyle in the team'' bla bla. I think they also used a term ''you're a doyle-lovey''

but as a neutral from the outside i can appreciate that he's a good player...

Hayden Mullins from the Skates?

Played under Pardew at Reading and West Ham, I believe. Could be going cheap in the Fratton winter sale.

they can't stand him down there, but two divisions lower I'd imagine he would look **** hot. How many players drop from Prem to League 1 in one go though?

George Boyd of Peterborough

Peterborough's best player is hardly likely to be allowed to leave, want to join a league 1 side, or fail to be picked up by another CCC side. Apart from that he's a wonderful choice.

Why has Nigel Quashie not played any games for QPR this season?

If he's just 'out of favour' hmbatdajfu?

He only joined QPR yesterday and they didn't play today ?

All those remaining at Pratsmuff might well do that at the end of the season.......hopefully?

.and to make sure-he's cuptied should he move to Donnie, they are still in as well.

I like it that I know what this means.

hmbatdajfu=he might be able to do a job for us

Now, back to the Times crossword...

I hope you read the crossword clues more carefully than you read that post you quoted, or you'll never finish it!

Strange way he keeps talking about the "Mellis replacement."

He's a 19 year old who only started 7 league games for us.

Very happy for us to sign a good midfielder, but funny how Pardew justifies the signing as if we have lost an essential player who we must replace!

Blimey, I cant take all this in...

A far cry from the January where we got rid of Skacel and Rasiak in the last few hours of the window....

If we get an attacking midfielder or a left winger in I'll be amazed at how well we've done this window. I can't see us going up this season but we're going to be smasing all sorts of records next season, if we don't walk the league questions will have to be asked of Pardew.

With injuries and suspensions he probably would be an essential player at the moment.

I think this is the justification he is giving to Cortese for signing another player - thus he is stating it in public to make sure Cortese and Liebherr get the message
