Minty Posted 23 January, 2010 Share Posted 23 January, 2010 I wouldn't normally comment too much on any Pompey thread, but that is laughable. I would say this for ANY club in their situation... but if their fans can't rally round and do the only thing they can really do at the moment, i.e. support their club during the 90 minutes, then I have to ask do they really deserve to be saved...? saint lard Posted 23 January, 2010 Share Posted 23 January, 2010 Everything concerning PFC disgusts me at present. Shameful, laughable and disgraceful excuse of a football club, and a substantial amount of it's followers fall under those headings also.

niceandfriendly Posted 23 January, 2010 Share Posted 23 January, 2010 I think I'd actually be offended by that attendance as a traveling Sunderland fan at Fratton today. Red Alert Posted 23 January, 2010 Share Posted 23 January, 2010 People say don't be hard on the honest fans and all that rubbish. Absolutely right. There's been much huffing and puffing about history, rivalry and how somehow the world will be a lesser place without them and then they get, what, 8,000 fans at home to an all Premiership cup game, knowing that wages need to be paid and bills need settling... Shameful...

ringwood Posted 23 January, 2010 Share Posted 23 January, 2010 at least when Saints went into meltdown our attendances went up, and now they won what 90k in prize money but will have another win bonus to payout so once again probably worse off after the game than before, lets hope we don't draw them as wouldn't want to fill their ground for them. Micky Posted 23 January, 2010 Share Posted 23 January, 2010 "Pompey should focus on being a community-based club, because Portsmouth itself has a very community-based population." Um? Strange how only a few months ago the good Dr was telling everybody how Pompey could draw thier fanbase from right across the south of England - millions of people. Reality seems to have hit home, even most of the local community seems to have deserted them and the Blue Few get Fewer still... Happy days if your a Saint. Badger Posted 24 January, 2010 Share Posted 24 January, 2010 Looks like the 'Hardcore' are getting restless too: http://boards.footymad.net/forum.php?tno=424&fid=203&sty=2&act=1&mid=2123130250 Quite an admission : The last time we were down to our "hardcore support", it numbered approx 8,000, ... So, my question is, if we somehow managed to land in Div 1 as opposed to being wound up completely, what would our average gate be? I'll say 9,000, with a low gate made up of hardcore only of 6,000. Have to have some sympathy with this view though: Well for all the JCLs you lose it will be consololidated by people like me who will return. I gave up a few years back now, ironically in the Cup winning season, because I could not stomach the players we had earning the money per week that they did. ******s like Defoe sum that up for me and .... for mee the PL journey was great but it seemed we had to sign a deal with the devil to get it. The unfortunate events that have happened around our success has tainted the memory. The Redknapp saga, dodgy deals, tax evasion, non payments to other clubs, Peter Storrie, winding up orders, arms dealer owners, fake sheikh owners, lie, lies and a few more lies and to cap it off the man that lifted the Cup now wants to sue us! ..although the last paragraph is amusing. Same bloke : I yearn to be a small club again AGAIN ?

dubai_phil Posted 24 January, 2010 Share Posted 24 January, 2010 Oh come on chaps, this isn't very fair. Everybody knows that once you reach the promised land of the PL, then everything else (apart from the CL) is a Mickey Mouse Cup....... Unless of course you are a die hard dedicated fan of your club who wants to make sure that they get the cash to survive to play another year in the PL..... If it wasn't so funny, it would actually be sad. They must be the world's first total Social Security Mentality watched club.
