Chez Posted 24 January, 2010 Posted 24 January, 2010 iirc he was also a member of our youth team that lost to (I think) Ipswich the other year in the 2 legged final. If I'm right, then fair play to the lad for hanging around and showing loyalty and above all patience. I know he gets put in the LB position, but isn't he a more orthodox midfielder? That could work well with Dan overlapping from behind him. the 2005 semi final squad was as follows: GK Andrew McNeil 2 DF Craig Richards 3 DF Sebastian Wallis-Taylor 4 FW David McGoldrick 5 DF Sean Rudd 6 DF Martin Cranie 7 MF Lloyd James 8 MF Tim Sparv 9 FW Theo Walcott 10 FW Leon Best 11 MF Nathan Dyer Sub FW Adam Lallana Sub MF Feliciano Condesso Sub DF Kyle Critchell Sub DF Gareth Bale Mills would have been 15.
david in sweden Posted 24 January, 2010 Posted 24 January, 2010 Played a blinder. My MOTM. Thank goodness, say I. He has been " roasted " by people on this site after nearly all his rather " indifferent " apps. this season..let's hope he's improved and is good competition / cover for Dan Harding. Few players are good EVERY game and having some options is always good. It wasn't many seasons ago that we had SIX defenders injured at the same time. We need good back-up.
hamster Posted 24 January, 2010 Posted 24 January, 2010 the 2005 semi final squad was as follows: Mills would have been 15. thanks for clearing that up. I looked for the squad but couldnlt find it? having said that, if he was with us back then, even as a schoolbly, that bunch must have been a tremendous inspiration to him.
Upton72 Posted 24 January, 2010 Posted 24 January, 2010 Can't but agree with the general tone of this thread. He looked much more accomplished at full back than he did the previous week in midfield. We must credit AP for motivation. Whatever he said after he'd put him on and then subbed him, had a very good effect.

Must be a pretty high turn around compared to most youth sides.
rooney Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 Yes, a great team player and glad he has done well.

If the club are serious about the youth policy going forward we could do a lot worse than getting Harte in. Behind all the fuss you'll find that the skates current youth team is doing very well in the FA youth cup this season and a lot of that will be down to the work Harte did whilst he had that role. Teh guy is a genious when it comes to youth football.

SNSUN Posted 25 January, 2010 Posted 25 January, 2010 Good against MK Dons, good against Ipswich. Automatic cover for Harding, perhaps even challenging for the slot permanently. (For example I wouldn't drop him for Harding tomorrow.) Which is annoying because Harding has been my favourite player so far this season.
