scotty Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 Not really. Leeds has it's crap parts, as does Southampton, but the nightlife, shopping and culture knocks Southampton for six. thats as maybe, but its still up north and f*cking freezing
Saint Fan CaM Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 From the sound of it, Barnie will be partnering Lambo up front which is a mouth-watering prospect to say the least. I think Rickie will be scoring a few more goals now too because defences will just not be able to handle the pair of them AND the likes of Lallana, Antonio and Waigo pitching in too. Overall excellent signing - shows the intent has not gone away (far from it!) and all we need now is as I've been saying for a couple of months is a strong attacking central midfielder. THANK YOU once again Markus and Nicola for supporting AP and giving us something to cheer about. COYR!
Tamesaint Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 thats as maybe, but its still up north and f*cking freezing and full of yorkies. No wonder he didn't go there.
Ewell Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 Welcome aboard Lee I really hope you do well. My one concern is Lambert and Barnard up front seems a little short on pace.
Matthew Le God Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 Welcome aboard Lee I really hope you do well. My one concern is Lambert and Barnard up front seems a little short on pace. The pace will come from the wings. Barnard still fast enough to cause a threat at this level.
Andy_Porter Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 As long as we have pace in the wide areas it should be fine. Lambert, Barnard, Waigo and Lallana would be fine, replace Lallana and Waigo with Holmes and James and we'd lack any penetration. Personally I think when Connollys fit he will start, Barnard will probably end up playing more games. Can't see Connolly being able to play twice a week so I imagine they'll rotate a fair bit.
St Landrew Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 Haven't noticed this put up yet, so here is: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/8474548.stm Bernard talks to Radio Solent too.
dubai_phil Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 Good, no idea about him, but I have been worried about cover for Lambert, and we've taken action to solve that problem. Identify problem area, sign player to solve it. Jeez seems SO easy doesn't it
instinct Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 Wilkins raves about his movement off the ball, hopefully will pick up on lots of Lambert flick ons.
Saint_clark Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 At 25 years old, still got his best years ahead of him as well...
exit2 Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 Have been told LB was very very sharp today in training at Staplewood and will most likely start up front with Lambert if not will be defo in bench. Personally I think this will be great as to be fair to RL although he can finish he isnt the worlds quickest So I suspect LB will play off him.
Smirking_Saint Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 Very happy with this, and the news we are going to be signing a midfielder. COYR
niceandfriendly Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 Very happy with this, and the news we are going to be signing a midfielder. COYR Is that official or rumour?
Glasgow_Saint Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 Is that official or rumour? AP said he has a midfield target on OS.
Smirking_Saint Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 Is that official or rumour? He said he is seriously looking on the OS
Andy_Porter Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 Said he was looking for a Mellis replacement on Solent last weekend as well, would be nice to get a proper goal scoring midfielder in.
StD Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 Excellent news! Looking at the fixture list, lets hope a decent chunk of their fee is based on us gaining promotion this season.
Chez Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 A silly question I think. I don't know why everyone is so concerned about Patterson now. He never really impressed me and he has had a fair few opportunities. Barnard on the other hand is totally proven in this league, and at a perfect age. If you put a poll on this forum 'who would you rather played for saints, Patterson or Barnard?' I think you would find it would be pretty conclusive. its a silly question because YOU don't rate him? Well thanks for that. I didn't realise you opinion was fact. As regards your poll, it doesn't adress my question at all. Is Barnard actually better than Paterson is what I asked, not which player fans want. I was after responses from people that know what Paterson is all about and really know Barnard having seen him a fair bit. So thanks for you response. It was worthless.
Chez Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 The pace will come from the wings. Barnard still fast enough to cause a threat at this level. what, from Lallana, Holmes, and James?
Chez Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 Said he was looking for a Mellis replacement on Solent last weekend as well, would be nice to get a proper goal scoring midfielder in. did he mean a midfielder that gets into the box or just another central midfielder because Melis had left him one short?
Andy_Porter Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 did he mean a midfielder that gets into the box or just another central midfielder because Melis had left him one short? He didn't say, just said something along the lines of needing another body in midfield because Mellis wasn't coming back. I was hoping we'd bring in an attacking midfielder but after the Stock link it looks like it will be another in the Hammond/Schneiderlin mould, agree that we really need someone who's going to bust a gut getting into the box not another deep lying midfielder.
NickG Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 He said he is seriously looking on the OS would have thought Pardew knew what is going on without look on OS;)
Legod Third Coming Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 Not really. Leeds has it's crap parts, as does Southampton, but the nightlife, shopping and culture knocks Southampton for six. Leeds? Culture? Got a yoghurt factory there now have they...

yorkie Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 Said he was looking for a Mellis replacement on Solent last weekend as well, would be nice to get a proper goal scoring midfielder in. Are we bringing MLT out of retirement?
Glasgow_Saint Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 Leeds? Culture? Got a yoghurt factory there now have they... That is brilliant
SFC Forever Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 Is Brighton Beach still going? Quality night out that. Depends on your likes and dislikes.
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 Welcome, Lee! Goals-a plenty, please! Lambert & Barnard: sounds like an estate agents but hopefully they'll be just the job to fire us into the playoffs...
Tractor_Saint Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 Lambert & Barnard: sounds like an estate agents Come on you lot - someone just has to edit this photo
saintkiptanui Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 Not really. Leeds has it's crap parts, as does Southampton, but the nightlife, shopping and culture knocks Southampton for six.Southampton bashing seems the in thing nowadays, disagree with you, it's because sotonians don't have any pride in there city unlike people from Leeds/Manchester/Liverpool/Newcastle. Newcastle as a city has less people than southampton, you wouldn't of thought it though, Southampton needs to let people know about it, people be proud of your city.
saint lard Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 This could prove a very good signing. Jeez this is some squad we are building. Still need to offload a few however.imo.

Legod Third Coming Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 Southampton the 'City' is a dump! It won't always be, it has special status for EU regeneration funding I think - although I might have dreamt that...
saintkiptanui Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 Southampton the 'City' is a dump!Due to a lack of pride, it's like a good looking bird who has got fat and lost respect for herself, it's up to the good people of southampton to raise it's profile.

You're right! Have some pride for your City! Saints returning to the prem will help!
teamsaint Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 Southampton the 'City' is a dump! rubbish. It has bad bits. Its been badly run. But its green spaces are second to none. The rest could be sorted. I am always proud to show people the best of Southampton. We take places like the Avenue for granted, but its really unique.
