Barnard Signed

Would you want to live in Leeds, capital of NorthernMonkeyLand ?

Having been with Spurs I would guess he is a southern lad which I think always has a part to play with players changing clubs, anyway Leeds is a great place to come from, its just a lousy place to go too.

Would be surprised if he didn't take over Paterson's number which was 17, failing that the lowest available one is 41, which is frankly rrrrrubbish.

Hold on, who is/was number 27? Oh yeah, Jamie White.

It's frightening to think that we have 41 players on the books with a first team number, that must be the biggest squad outside the premiership!

He's wearing number 10 in the training picture on the OS. Maybe Wotton has swapped numbers.

Lambert, Conolly, Barnard, Waigo, Antonio, Saga, Lallana

Surely the best forward options outside the prem?

Roll out the Union Jacks: that's probably the first time I've ever agreed with anthing GS has ever posted on here!

It looks excellent on paper, we just have to turn it into a winning combo on grass now; guess we're back to a permanent 4-4-2 (4-2-4) type situation, we really need to sort out which of Morgan and Hammo is going to be 'holding' and which is going to have the free-er role, my vote is for Hammo to hold and MS to have the free role!

Great signing!!! Was planning to buy a ticket to Brentford and this makes me want to go even more!!! If it wasn't for customer numbers I would have my ticket by now.......

ANYWAY GREAT SIGNING GOOD LUCK LEE

Think/hope he will get us around 15 more goals this season... though play offs? I still think we would be in better shape if we went up next season, after an awesome year and a trophy for winning the league. COYR

TBF it does include a bunch of never-play younger players who were all we had in August, and a couple of can't-get-rid-of others... as well as a near entire team of Pardew signings.

It'll be 17 or 27 unless Gillett completes a permanent move by COB today.

27 is Jamie White's number, you can't give away squad numbers that are already taken by contracted players, especially when they're on the list we gave the Football League at the start of the season and haven't left.

Trotman's 12 and Mellis' 35 are only Fonte and Seabourne's respectively because the loanees aren't coming back to Saints, which can't be said for certain about White at the moment.

Good cheap signing, goal scoring and a replacement for Lambert. We're still a pacy striker light IMO, and a midfielder short, but otherwise we're ready to compete with the top six. If only we could take this squad and re-wind to the start of the season!

totally agree, still think we will see Garvan/Stock and Lisbie/Jackson to really set us up for a strong finish

Not sure he was worth the money and Paterson in the long run.

He doesn't have the pace we so desperately need either.

Still in the short term he can play tomorrow (I think) - and he will be an alternative to playing Lambert every game.

glass half empty;)

is he better than Patterson?

A silly question I think. I don't know why everyone is so concerned about Patterson now. He never really impressed me and he has had a fair few opportunities.

Barnard on the other hand is totally proven in this league, and at a perfect age. If you put a poll on this forum 'who would you rather played for saints, Patterson or Barnard?' I think you would find it would be pretty conclusive.

And Rickie Lambert had number nine on, I think they probably just use 1-11 in training.

Maybe the training bids indicate the traditional position number and Barnard and Lambert being 9 and 10 will start upfront together tomorrow. Although, not sure if they practice as the following days team in training especially not when cameras present!!
