Jillyanne Posted 21 January, 2010 Share Posted 21 January, 2010 I need a quote to send to our insurance company for re-plastering and painting a ceiling that has been water damaged. If anyone can help, please PM. Thanks in advance.
tpbury Posted 21 January, 2010 Share Posted 21 January, 2010 I have engaged many plasterers oop north - going rate is £100 a day. In Soton - £200? Bill the insurance £300 and split the diff. (thereby contributing to everyone's insurance premiums going up, but whatever).

amsterdam Posted 21 January, 2010 Share Posted 21 January, 2010 I need a quote to send to our insurance company How about "April is the cruelest month"? Or "Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage"? Can't see how it'll help you with your ceiling though? Good luck anyway! Andy_Porter Posted 21 January, 2010 Share Posted 21 January, 2010 I think you're probably looking at £125 - £150 per day. My mate has recently had his whole house plastered took 6 days and he paid a grand. I know a decent plasterer if you want a number then PM me. hamster Posted 21 January, 2010 Share Posted 21 January, 2010 I had a gf many moons ago who did a party trick that culminated in her resembling a plasterers radio if that is any help Jilly. I still ahve a picture but it's probably NSFTSW.
DrZuess1979 the 2nd Posted 21 January, 2010 Share Posted 21 January, 2010 £100 per day no more. 2-2.5 days max + material (couple of bags of Finish coat and a bag of bonding) IMHO Rip the ceiling down, and re-board the lot, then skim for a much better finish. Thats what insurance is for!! So dog isn`t far off!
RedAndWhite91 Posted 22 January, 2010 Share Posted 22 January, 2010 I often get plastered, but I'm not sure I could help you with your roof. Could give it a go though?
hamster Posted 22 January, 2010 Share Posted 22 January, 2010 Jilly don't forget to claim for the carpet (Wilton) and wallpaper (Conran) while you are at it. That is after all what insurance is for, it's a bit like betting on an accumulator when you get a water leak. Treat yourselves to something nice, you could probably do Disney if you handle this one correctly.

Handyman Posted 22 January, 2010 Share Posted 22 January, 2010 I reckon some on here are more likely to get plastered than plastering!

sotonjoe Posted 23 January, 2010 Share Posted 23 January, 2010 If you think you'll get a decent plasterer in Southampton for £100 per day then you're obviously employing pikeys from the ****ty council estates.
