Big Ron fan Posted 23 January, 2010 Posted 23 January, 2010 Yes I remember being at that match as well. I've just looked it up in "In That Number" and it was actually 3-1 we came back from (0-1 Wark, 1-1 Keegan pen, 1-2 Wark, 1-3 Mariner, 2-3 Armstrong, 3-3 Moran, 4-3 Armstrong). Bobby Robson is quoted as saying he had "never been madder with my team in 10 years". Ipwich went on to finish 2nd that season (1981-82) with Saints 7th. One of my top 5 ever Saints matches ever! Ipswich hardly got out of their own half in the second half!
TheMidfieldGeneral Posted 23 January, 2010 Posted 23 January, 2010 Put SOUTHAMPTON v IPSWICH 1980/81 in YOUTUBE!!
countysaint Posted 23 January, 2010 Posted 23 January, 2010 Saints V Coventry 8-2 has to be up there as one of the best games I have ever seen. Frank Worthington was a football genius and was the pre cursor to Matt Le Tiss!
docker-p Posted 23 January, 2010 Posted 23 January, 2010 I picked up tickets this morning and the box office was doing steady business. I'm thinking 19K
EFM Posted 23 January, 2010 Posted 23 January, 2010 Slightly disappointing after we managed 18,000 for Luton but people have so many games to pick from and pay for now as we head for Wembley 3 times in a season.
Phil the Saint Posted 23 January, 2010 Posted 23 January, 2010 Attend: 20,446 More than the blue few?
RonManager Posted 23 January, 2010 Posted 23 January, 2010 More than the blue few? Twice as many!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
darren1 Posted 23 January, 2010 Posted 23 January, 2010 The Blue few only managed 10,000. No wonder they're skint, even during our dark days we had more than that!!
Phil the Saint Posted 23 January, 2010 Posted 23 January, 2010 (edited) The Blue few only managed 10,000. No wonder they're skint, even during our dark days we had more than that!! And I bet 3000 of them were away fans! Edited 23 January, 2010 by Phil the Saint Corrected amount of away fans!
ulstersaint Posted 23 January, 2010 Posted 23 January, 2010 The Blue few only managed 10,000. No wonder they're skint, even during our dark days we had more than that!! Twice as many today at St Mary's as Fartton Krap, very satisfying.
