brianoneils slidingtackle Posted 21 January, 2010 Posted 21 January, 2010 As it says on the tin, are we expecting over 22,000 for this game ? I should imagine Ipswich will bring over 1,000 at least.
sandwichsaint Posted 21 January, 2010 Posted 21 January, 2010 I've just bought 2 each for Brentford and MK this morning so unfortunately 'I'm out'. Not over-fussed about Saturday's game either way really but I would probably go to a replay if it comes to that; my main hope is for for no silly bookings or injuries on Saturday.
Redondo Saint Posted 21 January, 2010 Posted 21 January, 2010 I will be there in the Channon Club. Bought 4 tickets and think it's pretty good value if you only can see a few games per season.
Legod Third Coming Posted 21 January, 2010 Posted 21 January, 2010 I've got three including two first timers - one aged 7, let's make sure we hook him for life!
Redondo Saint Posted 21 January, 2010 Posted 21 January, 2010 I've got three including two first timers - one aged 7, let's make sure we hook him for life! in the Channon club? I think he will enjoy it - they do a few things for the kids, etc.
Colinjb Posted 21 January, 2010 Posted 21 January, 2010 I'm going with the new missus' Brother in Law. should be laugh. 18 quid a ticket is a rather good price I feel.
iansums Posted 21 January, 2010 Posted 21 January, 2010 Tractor boy mate of mine told me Ipswich had sold their initial allocation of 2000 (I think) and had requested more.
Chez Posted 21 January, 2010 Posted 21 January, 2010 the games are coming thick and fast so that might effect sales, as might our slight drop in form, but even though season ticket holders have to buy a ticket for this game I'd hope for 25k.
brianoneils slidingtackle Posted 21 January, 2010 Author Posted 21 January, 2010 I hope we get more than the skates at Krap Notarf in their FA Cup match
MadDogMatt Posted 21 January, 2010 Posted 21 January, 2010 ticket office told me 20000 including away sold so far when I bought my MK tickets at about 0 this morning
Rocker268 Posted 21 January, 2010 Posted 21 January, 2010 I reckon it will be a decent attendance. I am going with two friends, almost had a third coming as well, but their die-hard ipswich godparent would disown them if they sat in the Saints end, so they are sitting with a couple of other friends in the away end, it should make a fun trip home =p
brianoneils slidingtackle Posted 21 January, 2010 Author Posted 21 January, 2010 ticket office told me 20000 including away sold so far when I bought my MK tickets at about 0 this morning Well that should beat the skates anyway, unless 20K sunderland fans turn up at farton park :-)
Wadge Posted 21 January, 2010 Posted 21 January, 2010 Well I am taking both sons, 10 & 7, for their first visit to St Marys, it better be a good un.
LaptopSaint Posted 21 January, 2010 Posted 21 January, 2010 25000 would be very decent indeed. Whatever the number I hope there's a result on the day, that we really go for it and either we win or we go down fighting. The games are coming thick and fast and if we're going to have any chance of the play-offs we need to go on another run of wins. The next four 'relatively' easy games before Norwich away for example. Don't want a cup replay in the middle of it all. Come on!!!
CLOTH EARS Posted 21 January, 2010 Posted 21 January, 2010 I reckon there will be 18 or 19k on sat. Having seen the above post saying 20k sold then i will now go for 22.5k
saintkiptanui Posted 21 January, 2010 Posted 21 January, 2010 I reckon there will be 18 or 19k on sat. Having seen the above post saying 20k sold then i will now go for 22.5kEven though we've sold 20000 already?? having read your whole comment I will shut it.
dickyhale Posted 21 January, 2010 Posted 21 January, 2010 Well I am taking both sons, 10 & 7, for their first visit to St Marys, it better be a good un. Chapel?
Tractor_Saint Posted 21 January, 2010 Posted 21 January, 2010 Tractor boy mate of mine told me Ipswich had sold their initial allocation of 2000 (I think) and had requested more. Correct - I refused to let my Mum and Dad who are Ipswich supporters sit with me in Kingsland so told them to buy tickets in the away end. They bought them a couple of days ago but couldn't get seats together - were told to come back today to the ticket office. This morning Ipswich received additional allocation and mum and dad are now sat together (although after 50 years of marriage you'd have thought they'd have preferred to sit apart )
Andy_Porter Posted 21 January, 2010 Posted 21 January, 2010 Ipswich sold their initial 2000 and then sold the extra 400. Should be a decent atmosphere if they're in voice.
sotonjoe Posted 21 January, 2010 Posted 21 January, 2010 No two seats available together in the upper section of blocks 31 or 32. You can usually get in one of the very back rows at least! I've had to go to block 30 ... boo.
Nadia Sllim Posted 21 January, 2010 Posted 21 January, 2010 Wembley on two fronts maybe even three!...LOVE IT 23,423
latter day saint Posted 21 January, 2010 Posted 21 January, 2010 20,000 so far is good. hoping for good atmosphere, loads of noise please
indosaint Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 does anyone remember the cup game with them at the dell in the early nineties? it was a funny afternoon
saintkiptanui Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 does anyone remember the cup game with them at the dell in the early nineties? it was a funny afternoonDid we win 1-0 or 2-1 and did some Ipswich fans get thrown out of their seats by some old boys?? I rememeber that one.
Wadge Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 Chapel? Nope in the Kingsland, to say they are excited is an understatement, just a shame about the 3 hour car drive to get there.
spyinthesky Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 I was stood at the Milton Rd end when Saints bt Ipswich 7-0 in a cup game Ipswich were a decent side and had Ray Crawford, a useful Centre Forward (Pompey lad) up front. Crawford had been in the Army (on National Service, presumably in the Far East) and an older bloke next to be kept on shouting out 'Jungle Boy you're useless' One of the odd things you remember from your Saints supporting days!!
View From The Top Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 Nope in the Kingsland, to say they are excited is an understatement, just a shame about the 3 hour car drive to get there. Corky Morris and I do a 3hr(ish) each way trip with two 7yo for home games and because of that I'd like to vote the DS as the greatest invention ever!!

They won the Second Division that Season and the First the next or soon after - Sir Alf was the manager
brianoneils slidingtackle Posted 22 January, 2010 Author Posted 22 January, 2010 I remember the away game - Saturday evening i think !! that Saints lost 7 - 0 to Ipswich, quite a good turnout that night I think, even if a couple of coachloads of Saints never made the game after getting stopped by the plod.. mid 70's i think

Ray Crawford was guest at our youth football clubs presentation evening last year and what a top bloke he is, Jungle boy was his nickname and his autobiography was called that, he still does commentary on their matches so im sure he will be there tomorrow. Funny story he told me was that when he had scored the winner for England at wembley, he was on the train going back to Ipswich so he got a sandwich and cup of coffee from the buffet car and sent his expenses in to the FA (as he was told to do) the following week he got a letter saying that the FA would not refund his money as it was too much!!
SNSUN Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 I'll be there with my Norwich supporting missus, the only time she'll ever cheer us on at a game!
Gudz Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 taking my 6 yr old niece to this. I hope it's a good 'un!
Burger Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 Any updates on tickets sold?? 3,000 of your mates

Great memories, but you forgot to mention that Saints had a bit of an off -day because Ipswich actually got a goal that day ...and we ONLY won 7-1 I know its bad conceding goals at home like that, but there it is
1976_Child Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 I reckon we will have more at tomorrow's game than MK Dons had on wednesday. Not sure if I is going yet. Got the f@cking VAT man on me back. Got to get the accounts all squared away and falsified first!

I don't remember that match, but I do remember an amazing game at The Dell from Bobby Robson's days as manager. We were 3-0 down at half-time and being thoroughly outclassed, followed by an incredible second half when we came back to win 4-3! Does anyone remember being at this match?
Matthew Le God Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 Anyone been told a number today? I have been told the current number and sadly it wasn't Numberwang!
dannysfc Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 I have been told the current number and sadly it wasn't Numberwang! Numberwang LOL that is Classic Matthew Le God Mate!
dannysfc Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 Just to add that I will also be there as well and it should be a Good atmosphere and fingers crossed that we will come out on top and go through but we will see ! COYR!
StuRomseySaint Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 Spoke to David Luker at about 3 and the figure was just over 17,000 which includes 2,850 Ipswich.
spyinthesky Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 Great memories, but you forgot to mention that Saints had a bit of an off -day because Ipswich actually got a goal that day ...and we ONLY won 7-1 I know its bad conceding goals at home like that, but there it is Apologies if I got this wrong. Usually check up on facts before posting but relied totally on memory. Did Ipswich go 1-0 up? Also Ipswich used to have a left winger by the name of Jimmy Leadbetter. All skin and bone, knobby knees, a few strands of brylcreamed hair, the lot, a proper 1950's type footballer. No pace or tackling ability but very skilful. A lower rent Terry Paine but very effective in his day and supplied Crawford and Phillips with plenty of crosses
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 Spoke to David Luker at about 3 and the figure was just over 17,000 which includes 2,850 Ipswich. that's numberwang!
Toadhall Saint Posted 22 January, 2010 Posted 22 January, 2010 got mine about 5 -steady trickle of fans coming and going. Couldn't be bothered o ask how many had been sold due to the fact that the microphone thingy was on the blink which made it like having a conversation with a broken record.

Yes I remember being at that match as well. I've just looked it up in "In That Number" and it was actually 3-1 we came back from (0-1 Wark, 1-1 Keegan pen, 1-2 Wark, 1-3 Mariner, 2-3 Armstrong, 3-3 Moran, 4-3 Armstrong). Bobby Robson is quoted as saying he had "never been madder with my team in 10 years". Ipwich went on to finish 2nd that season (1981-82) with Saints 7th.
