david in sweden Posted 20 January, 2010 Share Posted 20 January, 2010 I'm a bit worried about tonight as well. I hope the amount of players injured and cup tied doesn't force Pardew into playing too negative a side. Glad it's over two legs, hopefully we will have the majority of our players back and a couple of new signings. I don't think the question of negativity comes into it. He certainly won't play with three strikers up...and will probably use an extra midfielder (?) but looking at the injury list, and then those who are cup-tied ...the team almost picks itself - doesn't it ? The9 Posted 20 January, 2010 Share Posted 20 January, 2010 I remember umming and ahing about this before the FA Cup final. Would it have been better to get the Blades and have a better chance of winning, but not get the UEFA Cup if we lost. Or Arsenal and probably lose, but guarantee a UEFA Cup spot. Although, in this case there is nothing other than the trophy up for grabs. I'd say Carlisle because they should be easier to beat, in theory. It's hardly like we'd've had an easy ride to the final having beaten Charlton, Norwich and (hypothetically) The Dons. Ask the Skates if their Bankruptcy FA side of 2008 would have rather played Cardiff or... um... well, they were all crap in the last 8 that season... The FA Cup Final dilemma we had was a little trickier than the JPT one we hope to face, but both are totally out of our hands, we can only concentrate on making the final. Can't complain though, we got exactly the draw I wanted in the last round, as I preferred to face Norwich in one match rather than over two, but Hereford didn't do their bit. Under Weststand Posted 20 January, 2010 Share Posted 20 January, 2010 First things first, we've got to get there by beating franchise FC. but would be happier to play Carlisle If we do get to Wembley.
Dan Johnson Posted 20 January, 2010 Share Posted 20 January, 2010 MK Dons will be extremely tough to get past over the 2 legs, I'm not counting any chickens yet!
Ampersound Posted 20 January, 2010 Share Posted 20 January, 2010 The sky curse will be put to rest tonight me thinks! If not, the next leg.

EFM Posted 20 January, 2010 Share Posted 20 January, 2010 I'm not sure I'd care too much who we played just to be back at Wembley. I haven't been there since 1978 (missed the ZDS). Please please just get there Saints! (Actually would probably rather see us stuff Leeds and their toss supporters but just to be back would be fantastic)
adysaint Posted 20 January, 2010 Share Posted 20 January, 2010 Honestly, we want Leeds. I hate em but Leeds 50,000 vs saints 40,000 If its Carlisle they will close the upper tiers to save money and it'll be: Saints 35,000 v Carlisle 25,

adysaint Posted 20 January, 2010 Share Posted 20 January, 2010 Its just that Leeds have the bigger club bargain power. From what I understand, Luton were begging for more tickets last year, even though they got what S*****horpe couldn't sell AND STILL the whole stadium wasn't used. We could say: "OK Leeds, push for the whole stadium and if you think you'll sell 40,000 - we'll match it"
aintforever Posted 20 January, 2010 Share Posted 20 January, 2010 Obviously Leeds v Saints would be the best final, but the most important thing is to put a shiney thing in our trophy cabnet and Carlisle would be the easier of the two.
Griffo Posted 20 January, 2010 Share Posted 20 January, 2010 How are the tickets allocated for the JPT final? Why the **** would Leeds get 50k and us 40k?
adysaint Posted 20 January, 2010 Share Posted 20 January, 2010 (edited) Its based on average attendences (or some similar system). Now, Leeds average attendence is not much more than ours: Leeds: 25,089 Saints: 20,600 (Sauce: League Paper 17/01/10) But obviously Leeds have a lot more to come out the woodwork. Carlisle don't - 25,000 max I'd reckon. We need Leeds to put the pressure on to make sure we get a big allocation too. If Carlisle get there we will not get as many tickets. Trust me.
