St Landrew Posted 19 January, 2010 Posted 19 January, 2010 Pompey took another step towards administration today when their application to have a winding up order removed was rejected. They're pretty much going to be relegated so, from their point of view, they might as well go into administration earlier, rather than later.
Dog Posted 19 January, 2010 Posted 19 January, 2010 I heard on Talksport on the way home that a Premiership Club IS going to go bust very shortly, as all their income (TV money & gate receipts) go on wages alone.
St Landrew Posted 19 January, 2010 Author Posted 19 January, 2010 Did you miss the Pompey thread Landy? No, I just put some new news about Pompey in the proper forum, where it would get noticed, rather than buried in the thread in the Lounge.
Colinjb Posted 19 January, 2010 Posted 19 January, 2010 I love how media outlets say that a Premiership club will be going bust, almost certainly knowing full well who it'll be, yet they daren't say who for fear of legal action.
Thedelldays Posted 19 January, 2010 Posted 19 January, 2010 I think StL is right...this news about pompey would have probably not get read in a thread that has had near a quater of a million views...
Danny Posted 19 January, 2010 Posted 19 January, 2010 I love how media outlets say that a Premiership club will be going bust, almost certainly knowing full well who it'll be, yet they daren't say who for fear of legal action. I think it's more the point they would have just been reporting what someone else (David Sullivan) said. That said, I'm not so sure Pompey is necessarily the one being referred to in this instance. They're the obvious candidates, but by no means the only ones in trouble.
bungle Posted 20 January, 2010 Posted 20 January, 2010 I'm surprised no ones mentioned it I'm (not) surprised that no-one has blamed Redknapp for his ridiculous overspending. Or, indeed, that every club he manages has severe financial problems immediately after his departure.

Too much to hope for a second dingbat CEO on the South Coast refusing to see the evidence before his own eyes, adamant he can turn it around in time and missing the cut-off date, isnt it ?

Indeed. I was going to put something like... if they are stupid, they'll try to survive and get the -10 point penalty when in the Championship next season. But in all honesty, who is going to be that silly..?
TopGun Posted 20 January, 2010 Posted 20 January, 2010 I'm glad this thread has been started. I hope a mod doesn't close it for repetition!
John B Posted 20 January, 2010 Posted 20 January, 2010 I did not want to Pompey to go into administration but now that Campbell is suing them for £1.6 m I hope they do and he loses all the money he thinks is owed to him
