The9 Posted 20 January, 2010 Share Posted 20 January, 2010 How would you explain Huddersfield away then? Taking of James and Morgan and replacing them with Mellis and Thomson at 54 minutes thus making a powder puff midfield for Huddersfield to stroll through.Pardew threw a point away there We were getting stuffed all over the park at Huddersfield and never looked remotely like getting a point long before any substitutions were made. Alain Perrin Posted 20 January, 2010 Share Posted 20 January, 2010 People forget what an important part luck plays in being a manager. Being at the right club at the right time - and knowing when to leave. By leaving at the right time you can appear to have the midas touch, when in reality you've been in the right place at the right time. Look at Darren Ferguson - last year he was the 'next big thing', where is he now?

Quite true, wonder if this was the case with us with Strachan, as great a job as he did for us hecouldn't have done any worse than his predessor to start. Although we were starting a new era at SMS expectations were still low with a lower midtable finish viewed as success so anything about that would have made him royalty in fans eyes. When he left it was quite clear the team would soon need major rebuilding work in the not to distant future. He knew that he wouldn't get significant £££ to improve it, wonder if Lowe had said, stay for another three years and we will give you £30m to spend in the summer if he would have changed his mind.
