Millwall V Saints - Post Match Reaction

St Landrew

Recommended Posts

for those who don't know what happened. Lambert scored in the last minute, only for Millwall to equalise with almost the last kick.

I'm not too downbeat, after all I was expecting it to finish 0-0, then with one click of the refresh button it was 1-1! Gutting that we didn't hang on, but it sounded very much like we'd lose today, so a point is ok.

What a shambolic load of crap that was, what the f*** is wrong with Pardew? What the f*** are substitutes for if you don't use them. Today is a black day and we can kiss the play-offs on the Rrse as we wave 'em bye! bye!

And we have to endure this crap for a few more months yet..

Is Pardew really committed or has he been tapped up by a few Prem sides. On today's evidence he doesn't seem to give a toss whetehr we lose, draw or win.

*****.

I blame the manager completely for today and tbh for the last 2 months. His negative tactics away from home have ruined our season. Connolly and waigo shud have been on far earlier and what is james still doing in the team. Vey dissapointed as we need to win games now and this shows we are simply not good enough to make the play offs. Sorry alan but u got it wrong again and im starting to think we have wrong man.

Jesus, i feel as crap as anyone, but some of the reactions here are mental.

How the hell has pardew ''ruined'' our season? What on earth are you on about?

we would be in the top 6 without the -10, and seeing what we started with (i.e a bunch of kids) that's not a bad effort at all really.

so i don't agree that he has ''ruined'' our season.

Is it time to forget about the play offs?

We HAVE to BEAT teams above us.

Yes - unless AP sorts out the midfield completely we will always be having problems like this. I think 3 or 4 more games in and the defence will be better. But if you leave it 92 minutes to really threaten the opposition goal (and then rely on a lucky deflection) and don't dominate midfield, you're not going to win enough games in this league. Morgan has been too lightweight - he has tried to sort that out but now plays too deep, so is now not enough of an attacking threat. Other than Hammond, the rest of the midfield is not settled (and now he might be injured).

I have changed my mind (again) now. AP urgently needs to make some big decisions regarding midfield make-up - particularly central. Morgan might be better in the CCC and when he's older, but at moment he's just not doing the business.

Same old Saints, FFS boys how hard is it to hold onto a lead for just 1 minute?!

As soon as we score we just switch off at the back!

At least we've got the rest of this season to put a winning team together for next year, looking at the table now I fear our play off dreams have had it!

Everyone needs to get a ****ing grip.

They same thing has just happened at Ipswich to Coventry except that Coventry equalised and then conceded in the 92nd minute to lose the game.

It's not a good thing but you know what.....it happens in football from time to time - we did it a Wolves the season we stayed up. Didn't here anyone saying how 'unprofessional' Wolves were just how great we were....

Was not there so obviously cannot comment on how people played.

But i am not happy that we have gone into a defensive team. We have quality in our squad who have the ability to rip teams apart and we are not playing to that strength.

Millwall are a good team and didn't sound like they deserved to lose. A draw is a good result.

But please Pardew stop going to places and going for draws. We need a proper centre midfield player in the squad. Morgan is good but his assist ratio is terrible, we need someone who can unlock the defence with a pass. The next 4 league games are must wins or you have to say playoffs is no chance. We still have to play most of the teams above us at home so can still make up the points but we won't do that by being negative.

A draw is a good result from a trip to Millwall..........too many are expecting too much from the team........there is optimism about Saints but that needs to be tinged with a dose of reality with regards to where we were just 5 months ago.

The dream of the play offs is still alive, but a top half finish to this season should, in my view, be seen as a success.

What would peoples opinion be on a draw before the game? Did come about in a hurtful way but wouldn't have been so bad when considered before the game.

Exactly, obviously galling that we threw away a goal lead in the last minute but a point away with their home form is actually a good result, and a point more than nearly everyone else has got at Millwall this season. But has to be said the gap between us and 6th is getting a bit too big.

Shows how far we have come

Draw 1-1 after no pre-season bla bla bla

25 games later (millions spent)

Draw 1-1!

Lucky to draw too

The last minute drama will smoke screen another poor performence.

Last 4 league games = LWLD

Thats poor

In context. Three of those 4 games were away against 3 of the top 5 home teams. We're not going to face that every week til the end of the season now are we?

In fact I'd go as far to say that our only really difficult games left this season are Norwich away and Leeds home.

63 points to play for...it's by no means over yet

League rules say only 3 substitutions permited. Saints used 3.

15 points off the playoffs if Swindon and Huddersfiled win game in hand.

Shame we didnt spot Lamberts (Norwich manager) potential in the summer!!!

On the other hand if they don't win their games in hand and we beat both of them at home, the maths is somewhat different. Ifs and buts. Its points that count.

Pardew shows the same situational awareness with his substitutions as George Burley does.

And not being able to kill the game for a couple of minutes to then end after going ahead...that is unforgivable.

connolly may not have been fully fit but y didnt papa go up top with ricky and sooner?? surely 4-4-2 with antonio- wotton- morgan and lallana wouldve got team playing more effective.. Pardew top man and wary of the knee-jerk shout and very dissapointing obviously at minute BUT dodgy or delayed subs is bit of a recurring theme with the bloke!! Get Stock in for Morgan (needs break) and get Jackson as Connolly not reliable

Perhaps you would prefer to support Norwich then, since he makes you so happy? Nearer to Glasgow too; easier for Lambert to hear your moans when you decide to turn on him.

Those of you expecting a defense which had 3 new signings in it to gel after virtually no time training together need your heads testing! I don't care how much they cost they were never going to happen.

Let's face it James had to be moved out of the right back position and one of the central defensive was self imposed with the injury to Jaidi. I suppose Perry could have stayed in place but even 2 new faces in the back four would have taken time to settle in. Pards probably thought if I'm gonna change 2 straight away, I might as well start with all three.

Sounds like the midfield was more of an issue as some have been saying on here for some time, putting the new defense under too much pressure.

I'm bloody annoyed too but all this knee jerk ******** is just bleedin ridiculous.

Predicted 1-1 before the game and would have been happy with that.

I feel the new guys need time to settle and perhaps Saints isn't the place for Lee Holmes. Pardew did leave it too late to change the game but hopefully with the JPT on wednesday he'll have the chance to begin the game with pace from midfield.

Sorry I should have known id upset the resident internet man. We have spent more than all the toher teams and shouldnt be going to a millwall team with injured players with a defensive line up. We did the same at leeds and colchester and should have learned. At the start of the season we were playing waigo away and winning 3-1 every game. Dont understand it.

In summary, that's the shortest I've ever celebrated, then my computer crashed. I thought it would end 0-0, so I'm not as downbeat as you'd think.

As for strengthing the defence, it almost worked. As for the attack, shyte.

Creative players are needed, and needed urgently.

I have no complaints over the players we signed, but the real improvement will only come when we do something about the midfield. I am still not completely sure what that line up was intended to do? Too many changes and it seemed to be reflected in the manner we played (via merry). We have clearly shown that without pace up front, defences are not really bothered by us, unless we are in full control.

Very disappointed in this and Pardew. If Cortese is anything to go by, he will be expecting more for his money and rightly so.

What I find frustrating is that we scored the late goal...so from the re-start - all our players are/were behind the ball & in our own half...all of them.

And yet Millwall still managed to bypass the lot of them & slot the ball home seconds later!

Sometimes I bloody hate football.

Yep and we havent got enough!

Million spent and we are 5 points off the bottom 4!

We are further behind the PO teams than we were at the start.

Goes to show that Pards definitely has a point about late goals. Absolutely gutted to draw like that. I think we can kiss goodbye to the play-offs now, they seem so far away now. Realistically, are we going to make up 12 points? I don't really mind, my personal hope for this season was for us to stay up and i'll still be happy with that.

I think its only a matter of time! Im rarely wrong

You do realise Millwall have lost only 1 game at home all season right? Have only had 8 goals scored against them prior to today?

As someone else mentioned to you we have just played 3 of the top 5 teams in a row away.

In context to statistics it is a very good result.

So cheer up fella, we actually moved up the table.....
