Childish Southampton says Coleman....

On the subject of Drogba didn't we have a deal agreed for him and Malouda for £3.5m but Lowe wouldn't sanction the transfer for some reason? We could have only sold the pair on for £35m a few years later! Adebeyor was the one who he said he had an attitude, to be fair he has but dont most top players? How many nice blokes do you know who are at the top of their game, few and far between.

There's a danger people re-write history here.

I thought in Strachan's book he said that Drogba was offered to Saints but he (Strachan) didn't want to sign him as DD was too similar to James Beattie. This would make sense given Strachan's habit of playing a big 'un and a little 'un.

IMHO, and on balance, we had a very good transfer record under Lowe in terms of unearthing gems. Until the relegation season that is, when we had too many average players brought in by a succession of managers.

Every club sees hundreds of players, a fraction of whom get trials, and fraction of those get signed. It's not like Saints were signing Drogba at his peak, it's considering him when he's a bandy legged 17 year old. You're bound to miss some and to use it as a stick to beat Lowe is a bit cheap in my opinion.

Strange this is only being reported in one ragtop and nowhere else. The Mirror (like most papers) is crap anyway, suspect there is no animosity at all. As for Coleman, he is and always has been a ****, so if something has upset him, good, he gets what he deserves, and soon will be leaving Coventry I suspect as they seem to have found him out as a very uninspiring manager.

The person who comes out of this looking childish and petulant, is Coleman. He's like a baby throwing his toys out of the pram. OK, he's upset because he couldn't buy another player without first getting money for Elliott, but he ought to grow up and accept that the deal isn't done until the contract is signed, the same as any other legal transaction. He talks as if there is some code of honour and ethics that exists in football and if he believes that, he is more naive and gullible than he ought to be as a manager.

Thank God we didn't get Coleman or Ransom at this club.

Having had the pleasure of meeting Chris Coleman and discussing how close he came to being Saints manager I can say first hand that he is a gentleman and I for one would have welcomed him as our manager.

If he is unhappy there must be reason for him to be so outspoken.

The words toys and prams come to mind. Coleman really just wants his wages off the books. It's a non story and could be made about a lot of transfers that fall through last minute. He'd have been a good signing at the right price and as long as his wage demands were significantly less than he is on at Coventry.

I wouldn't take notice of what another manager of another club says in The Mirror about another transfer.

There's not too many of Coventry's players I'd want here anyway tbf. Hardly setting the world alight up there.

Maynot be setting the world alight but there have been rumours connecting us to Eastwood.

Coleman quoted “To come out with excuses is childish and we’ve all been round the block enough times to know that it’s nonsense.

So what were these childish excuses that saints offered for pulling out?

I've also questioned this.

As I see it Saints should have acted with the courtesy to notify both Ward and his club that they were not proceeding with the deal. However if the oik,or someone else at Lavatory City prematurely broadcast it to the media then that clearly is not our fault and any embarrassment is of their own making.

Coleman is just fulfilling my previous view of him as a whining Welsh spastic.

All i can say is... Coleman behaved in a childish manor when he cheated on his wife. They obviously need money and are throwing their toys out of the pram. Seabourne was the no 1 target and good businesses negotiating means deals are normally left to the last min. The fact he feels he has to go and shout about it to the media just shows you how professional we are. To get on with things behind the scenes is not something we are used to.

Was he living in the childish manor when he threw his toys out of the pram or just visiting? I think we should be told. More shoddy journalism!

Just a case of Coleman p*ss*d off at having to Keep Ward who he Doesn't want, an being unable then to bring in a player he does. As we all know we've been disappointed in the past when a prospective deal has fallen through. until its signed sealed & delivered then until that moment anyone can decide to pull out of the deal. Now for what ever reason AP & NC have decided that this deal wasn't right for Saints, and up to press they've not got much wrong. So I'm prepared to go with that decision. F**k Coventry, Ranson & Coleman they are the ones behaving like children having a hissy fit. Ranson is a right one to get upset at us, remember 18 months ago you Tw*t when you used us a stalking horse, another case of what goes around.

Would've rather had Ward than Seabourne. Bit disappointed tbh.

Entitled to an opinion, of course, but since both players were scouted by Pardew and his team, and unlike the average fan, Pardew's people are football professionals, it seems likely that their assessment is the more reliable. If the club consider that Dan Seaborne is a better buy than Ward, and better than others who might have been under consideration, its hard to see on what basis a fan could prefer Ward. Its true he cost £1m when he left West Ham, but that was over 3 years ago and he hasn't been able to hold a place in an average Coventry side. Seaborne appears to be a very capable player that a lot of Exeter fans are sorry to see go, and he is an excellent 'fit' into the Saints team.
