Dog Posted 15 January, 2010 Posted 15 January, 2010 Wycombe Wanderers midfield general Tommy Doherty has walked out on WWFC after refusing to play for their manager Gary Waddock after an ongoing arguement they had whilst both playing for QPR. Best midfielder in league one, skillfull, aggresive, great ball passer. Pardew, go and sign him!!
Smirking_Saint Posted 15 January, 2010 Posted 15 January, 2010 Does it work like that ?? Isn't he under contract technically, i think delgado tried it.
Pancake Posted 15 January, 2010 Posted 15 January, 2010 Does it work like that ?? Isn't he under contract technically, i think delgado tried it. On January 15th 2009 Tommy was released from his contract with Wycombe Wanderers. He cited previous issues with the current Blues manager Gary Waddock during his time with him at Queens Park Rangers. And http://www.wycombewanderers.co.uk/page/LatestNews/0,,10430~1932155,00.html So looks like is free.
CWD Posted 15 January, 2010 Posted 15 January, 2010 Sounds like a good deal and would allow us to spend big on a striker!
SaintsAhoy Posted 15 January, 2010 Posted 15 January, 2010 I don't think it would necessarily be a good thing signing a player who has left a club because of a dispute with his manager (which goes back a while). If the guy can't rise above something like this I don't think he would be right for Southampton.
Eaststander Posted 15 January, 2010 Posted 15 January, 2010 Don't think he'd come here anyway. Not after '76, I think he still bears a grudge, about that one too.
Stepgar Posted 15 January, 2010 Posted 15 January, 2010 But we don't know exactly why he had a busy up. Must be pretty bad though.
Scummer Posted 15 January, 2010 Posted 15 January, 2010 But we don't know exactly why he had a busy up. Must be pretty bad though. It says on the Wycombe site it's because he got released by QPR when Waddock was manager.
Window Cleaner Posted 15 January, 2010 Posted 15 January, 2010 Quick someone "Facebook" him and see if he's interested, while you're at it, might as well check out his FM stats as well.

ottery st mary Posted 15 January, 2010 Posted 15 January, 2010 Good experienced Mid field playmaker..tough tackler..30 yrs in March..... Norwich..maybe because he played for Lambert.......Swindon or Bristol Rovers... Saints not so sure....We have Gerrard and Lampard lined up ..surely.
Smirking_Saint Posted 15 January, 2010 Posted 15 January, 2010 Would be a great signing IMO, perhaps this is the player that pardew was alluding to when he said 'weren't having a good time elsewhere' however i believe he was probably talking about otsemabor. If we could steal him on a free he is probably just the player we need imo.
SFC Forever Posted 15 January, 2010 Posted 15 January, 2010 interesting but perhaps we could offer him 6 months with the promise of more if it works out. Being released by two clubs does not look good on your CV.
ericofarabia Posted 15 January, 2010 Posted 15 January, 2010 Don't think he'd come here anyway. Not after '76, I think he still bears a grudge, about that one too. Actually he was very generous in defeat and said he didn't feel too bad as his team had lost to a club full of good people. My estimation of him went up hugely in the way he conducted himself. surprised to see him playing for Wycombe now though :smt081

Toadhall Saint Posted 15 January, 2010 Posted 15 January, 2010 Waddock was ****ging his Mrs Yep I can see how that would **** him off somewhat!
John B Posted 15 January, 2010 Posted 15 January, 2010 Don't think he'd come here anyway. Not after '76, I think he still bears a grudge, about that one too. I think you maybe confusing Tommy Doherty with Tommy Docherty

Saint_clark Posted 15 January, 2010 Posted 15 January, 2010 He's not that great. Better than Wotton, though...
Danbert Posted 15 January, 2010 Posted 15 January, 2010 his mrs is better than wotton Better at what and how do you know?
RedAndWhite91 Posted 15 January, 2010 Posted 15 January, 2010 I think you maybe confusing Tommy Doherty with Tommy Docherty I think you may be confusing a joke with seriousness

RedAndWhite91 Posted 15 January, 2010 Posted 15 January, 2010 I apologise for posting a tongue in cheek post I apologise for reading it as serious, unfortunately it's hard to differentiate serious and non-serious in words written on the internet :/
John B Posted 15 January, 2010 Posted 15 January, 2010 I apologise for reading it as serious, unfortunately it's hard to differentiate serious and non-serious in words written on the internet :/ No problem I was going to put a but got distracted when the cricket came on the Telly. Dont know how old you are but the Doc was a real character a good footballer and manager. Once at Chelsea I think he sent most of his first team players home for some misdemenour and played with reserves http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tommy_Docherty

Eaststander Posted 15 January, 2010 Posted 15 January, 2010 Friends again that's good. Another Tommy Doc quotes to remind us how football used to be in the good old days. "They offered me a handshake of £10,000 to settle amicably. I told them that they would have to be a lot more amicable than that.":smt081 Sound familiar and apt for todays news?????:smt047
woodsaint Posted 15 January, 2010 Posted 15 January, 2010 Wouldnt improve us. As a northern ireland supporter ive seen him play a few times and he gets stuck in yes but very average passing and going forward. Nowhere near the northern ireland team now. We already have better, even in cover
