I know its another Stock thread, but I read something on 606 about SG and it started me thinking!

Just can't see any rhyme nor reason why SG has not tied up the Donny deal yet! I still feel BS will be joining us but it definitely seems that two are interlinked!! Hopefully talks are ongoing, but I have started to feel positive again!!

Not based on anything, just don't understand why SG hasn't gone yet

perhaps if Stock actually starts playing for them again after 4 months of injury they won't need Gillett any more.Who cares anyway.

I do, in the sense that Stocky will make a difference in my opinion! Still I won't beat myself up if it comes to nothing!

I must be frank and say that before all the magic roundabout transfer talk started last week-end I'd never heard of the bloke, and that's saying something. We WILL NOT sign Brian Stock before he plays some games for Doncaster-if we ever sign him at all. We are not very likely to take a big punt on a bloke who hasn't played for over 3 months.Look where that got us with Pulis.

I dont really feel comparing this to the pulis scenario is right he's proved jowgood he is and pulis has always been ****e. Just have to look at his appearance record as a... I say this with great pain professional footballer...

To be fair, although you've not heard of him, clearly plenty of others have, and one injury does not automatically make him an unlikely target. Comparing him to Pulis is grossly unfair IMO. Stock has played many successful games and was Donny's player of the season last year. Pulis hasn't even played regularly for anyone, let alone be rated by any fans.

I'm not saying anything about the likelihood of a transfer, just that your logic as to why it won't happen seems a bit loose to me.

Any other midfielders in that mould we could be looking for? My l1/championship knowledge isn't good! Just feel we need someone

I'm sure if Pardew feels we need someone then he already has ideas in mind and is working on them.

It is too late to sign anyone before tomorrows game, and anyone we do sign will probably be cup tied for JPT and likelier for the FA cup game vs Ipswich, therefore he has until 27th vs Brentford to get someone in if he feels it's neccessary.

As it is, a lot of people on here will be dissapointed come the end of the window as they are taking rumours as gospel and there is a lot of expectation to get players like Stock, Danns in, when Pardew might not even be interested... we've already had Ward deal fall through.

He proved last season that he's a quality player, he was doncasters player of the season and was linked to a hole host of clubs (inc. premiership clubs/recently relegated clubs etc).

I've seen him a play a few times and he is class, way too good for L1 - i just hope we pull it off.

I don't compare him to Pulis, I don't say it won't happen. I say we won't sign him (if ever) before he plays again for Doncaster.

OK, fair enough, but it sounded like this...

We are not very likely to take a big punt on a bloke who hasn't played for over 3 months.Look where that got us with Pulis.

meant that you thought we shouldn't sign him just because he has been injured.

I think with the uncertainty over Sean O Driscoll potentially signing for Burnley- maybe transfers of players are being put on hold?

You know everything, you are the Oracle.

he is still a donny player, so i would expect him to be in shake up!! doesn't change anything

No No No

I know he is a Donny Player but he has not played for weeks

isn't he back to full fitness though? oh i don't know, maybe he will watch us at Millwall lol

Skipper Brian Stock could make his first appearance for Doncaster Rovers since being sidelined by an ankle injury in September.

anyone know if Stocky is in line up?

he starts

deal is off IMO, would have happened by now if it was going to.

something must have happened in the week (maybe Nicola looked at the current wage bill!), as the Danns/Stock and Ward ''imminent'' deals just didn't happen.

Perhaps they were never really on in the first place.

At least there is an acknowledgement that we have an interest in Stock, why would we otherwise know anything about Doncaster's valuation?

Little doubt in my mind, and I have said so before, that the lack of announcement of Gillett's departure hangs together with negotiations about Stock. Jaidi was once mentioned as a "longshot", and he arrived, so I think there is mileage in this yet.

We're going to have to get used to teams driving a hard bargain for players now we're minted.

I don't think the deal is dead, if it was, Pardew could have batted the question away.

Posted
why, how do you know that??????????

I dont know it, I just think it would have happened by now if it was going to happen. Im allowed to say "it wont happen" as much as you lot are creaming over his possible signing.

difference you seemed to state as fact where others are speculating either way. Get over it???

What did pards actually say in interview?

His (almost) exact words were...

''Stock is a player i like, a very good midfielder. But our valuation is different than the valuation that doncaster have for their captain. It's a bit of a longshot at the moment''
