Based on what you have seen so far would you? Has he got the potential to be a star for us as we push up the leagues or is he not good enough?

Posted

I think we should, if he wants to stay. I like him I think we'd get more out of him by playing him as a striker than a winger though. To be honest without him we'd be out of the JPT by now, he is our JPT special weapon.

Kind of hard to decide at the moment as he has been faily inconsistent. Brilliant at times, but hopeless at others. Overall, if I had to chose now I'd probably say yes though.

depends how much for...anything over £750k..then probably no

Personally I'd say he's worth half that. He hasn't exactly been a stand out player in League 1.

I quite like Papa, but on balance wouldn't sign him. I think the agreed fee is £500K and his wage demands may be high too. He's good, but I think we can do better.

Hmm, maybe we should just stay as we are for now. After all, I remember a certain Marek Saganowski being abolutely brilliant while he was on loan. But as soon as the deal was done the goals dried up almost completely. Yes, it was a lot to do with other circumstances too, but the transformation was like night and day.

agree i guess..

lambert cost £1m...papa is not even close to being as good as him...

even in the CCC...a few good players can cost nothing..

Yes I would. He's a goalscorer and I'd like to know what his goals per minutes on pitch ratio is.

Sure, he has a few flaws in his game but those can be ironed out with good coaching. Overall, I think we should take him, if the price is right.

He did score three on his first three starts AFTER he had signed permanently. Despite this, he hardly got into the team, getting thrown on with 10 minutes to go, and even in the 2nd minute of injury time once.

I'm still undecided. I wouldn't be surprised if Pardew was looking to sign a replacement in the summer who is similar in style and in terms of ability. Whilst Papa Waigo has bags of potential, he's not consistent enough for my liking. Having said that, he does have the ability to change a game with a flash of brilliance, so it's a tricky one.

If Lambert is "worth" £1m then Papa is worth a lot less than that...

Agree that it depends on the price though. He has potential but can't seem him being good enough in the future if/when we get to the prem.

Edit: On balance.... no. For the money we are talking (although we aren't ITK) I think we could do better.

would sign him for L1 but not for champ

Yes I was thinking the same seems OK but nothing special but what other options are there

Yes, I'd sign him. He's talented, enthusiastic and he's got time on his side.

But he's not on-side a lot of the time unfortunately

Still sign him up though - instead of bringing in a third big-name striker have Waigo as someone who can play there or on the wing (he does have a great goalscoring record) and bring in a wing-back or decent holding midfielder

Yes I would...Good for the team/squad in Div 1 and CCC.....Squad player when we arrive top league and European matches when the experienced Messi will lead us up front.

But as usual I will have to defer the final decision to the experts.....

Posted

yes i'd sign Papa.... but he reminds me a bit of Bradley Wright -Phillips in his style of play, constantly off side, quick, and scores important goals more often than not after being on as a sub. He has time to develop though so bring him in

Nope no chance scored a few as an unknown quantity but now people have found him out. Alot like zaki at Wigan last year. Retard can't understand the offside rule. No thanks rather a danns or mcsheffery player for next season.

I'm still undecided. He does have talent ,yes. But what I don't understand is this feeling that he has time and will get better. How does he have time on his side? He's in his mid-twenties. He is a seasoned and experienced professional. This is as good as he gets. It's not like he is only 19 and in his first season of professional football, coming from non-league last season like Antonio.

So for me, the decision would depend on all sorts of issues that we do not know about: wage demands, attitude, language problems and what he is doing to learn English, long-term fitness, etc

For me, off-side is the key. If he could understand it and go a full game without getting caught, then yes, but at the moment, League 1 is his level as he has shown. He needs to be better positionally to be a CCC or possible Premiership player, without that improvememnt, he's no more than entertaining at this level.

Don;t get me wrong, this season we've needed him and he's brought something extra to the squad, but going up a level, his off-sides would drive me crazy!

silly poll

would I sign papa for £100k..yes

would I sign papa for £1m...no

Was there not an agreed price that we can sign him at, at the end of the deal, but negotiated before the loan started?

Yes I'd sign him.

Adapting to English football takes time. And some players never do.

Definately, dont know why he doesnt play every match either on the right on upfront. Is a class above most of our players, and most of this league, he's offside a fair bit, but then some of our players dont play the ball to him quick enough. He'll be fine for the championship.

That is the key for me, time and time again he is not released quick enough and then gets the blame!

I've voted yes assuming we'll be in League One next season. He is better than League One standard.

If we get promoted then it's hard to say as we will have lots of options open to us (assuming the investment level steps up a gear also). Depending on who comes down from the Prem and goes up, we may well be the most attractive option outside the Premiership for players.

Absolutely right !

His brain and his legs are a bit quicker than some of his team mates.

I would certainly like to see him here on a permanent basis

Waigo is a tricky player with a bit of pace and will always cause headaches to the opposing defence. He can pass well.

He needs to sort out his offside problems but he brings enough to the game so I would say yes, sign him up at the end of the season as our wide right player

Posted
If he can sort out his offside problems, he is one of half-a-dozen key players who can take us back to the big time.

I have sent some diagrams/sketches/instructions to Papa:D.....Hopefully with a little bit of help and our players releasing the ball a tad earlier......:)

I sent the same to Bradley but that did not work for some reason even though I had put it in a Janet and John format..... I believe Plymouth are going to send some sailors round to Bradleys place.............some sense into him as an extreme measure.

Better luck with Papa.

Te be fair, I have just watched him and on most occasions he is onside, I just think he is too quick for this league and the officials lol

Pace to burn and his goal scoring record isnt half bad either. Yes his reading of the offside rule is practically non-existant but imagine how dangerous he could be once he learns to time his runs on a consistent basis. There are no players as quick as him in League 1 or in the Championship IMO. He can offer us something very different for at least the next two years and hopefully by then would have improved in to a competent premier league striker.

You may think Lambert is worth £3m but what team is going to pay that amount for him I wonder

I would sign him he is fast and can and has scored goals and important goals I am not sure he knows what he is doing but he has something in his locker and will make a good squad player in this league and the CCC.

I would also sign Antonio I think both have potential to come on and change impact players that can change things are well worth having I say sign them both
