Sanguin Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 Midfield, James might improve and he's a brilliant cover/utility player but our midfield isn't yet good enough and if we lose either Hammond or Schneiderlin then its **** poor.
Andy_Porter Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 Either an attacking central midfielder or a left winger to free up Lallana to move into the middle when we play 4-5-1.
Chez Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 LM please. We have no cover there at all. Don't talk to me about Holmes. He is ****.
shurlock Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 Read Pards latest comments - says we are scoring enough goals. make of it what you will...
Pat from Poole Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 Jobi McAnuff. I would take him regardless of what we need. He tore Liverpool apart at times the other night. Just think what he could do to Huddersfield. I'd use all the money we might use on Danns, Stock, and Jackson combined and get McAnuff on board. You're talking about £3 million there. Jobi McAnuff is barely worth 20% of that, if he was a consistent performer he wouldn't be at Reading.
SaintBobby Posted 15 January, 2010 Posted 15 January, 2010 Centre forward please. Massive burden on Rickie's shoulders at the moment. Am a big fan of Connolly and Papa, but think we lack depth here. Not persuaded that DC will play more than 50% of our remaining minutes. Think signings so far are both exciting and sensible. But if - madly - Saints were to hand the transfer kitty over to me right now, I'd buy a £1m striker.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 15 January, 2010 Posted 15 January, 2010 Jackson or Bernard - essential to get cover for Lambo and Connolly.
West End Saint Posted 15 January, 2010 Posted 15 January, 2010 We need a front man that can come on & give Rickie a rest and provide cover if Lambo gets injured our season hangs in the balance he gives the team so much and at the moment we cant do without him. I would like us to buy someone in that mold Barnard maybe or Rob hulse someone that can hold up the play is a handfull and can score a goal
northam soul Posted 15 January, 2010 Posted 15 January, 2010 Creative attacking midfielder who keeps possesion has an eye for goal and can find that killer pass that we lack at times. I think this is where we are found wanting against the better sides and i hope that this is addressed as a matter of urgency.

This always makes me laugh as I think every team in the country would like to add that type of MF to thier team. We will not be buying Cesc Fabregas (sic) or Steve Gerrard.
yorkiesaint Posted 15 January, 2010 Posted 15 January, 2010 For me midfield is most important. For instance in the leeds game we were found out because we had to use papa or antonio. These are squad players that are not suited to that kind of tought away match where we needed to keep things tight and midfielders that can defend in all positions. We need proper cover for the midfield for when either Schneiderlin, Lallana or hammond aren't available. Either Danns or Stock would be great, but I wouldn't be surprised if there are not more irons in the fire.
SFC Forever Posted 15 January, 2010 Posted 15 January, 2010 Someone to fit in the 'hole' between midfield and attack If we get Stock that would enable both Hammond and or Morgan to play in a more attacking vein.
NickG Posted 15 January, 2010 Author Posted 15 January, 2010 Danns or similar for RM would release Papa to be forward
Gambol2K9 Posted 15 January, 2010 Posted 15 January, 2010 Expanding on the concept, if you could have one of either Brian Stock or Simeon Jackson, which do you think could add more to the team?

We will not be buying Cesc Fabregas (sic) or Steve Gerrard. There are many players at this level who do that job better than what we have and i dont remember stating we should be signing players of that quality. The balance of our midfield is not good enough and if people have aspirations of getting promoted this needs addressing.
