The Fat Controller Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 (edited) See saints OS - Sorry Jon Otsemobor Right Back from Norwich Edited 14 January, 2010 by The Fat Controller
The Godfather Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 Decent signing, just what we needed a Right back. Good news.
John B Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 Decent signing, just what we needed a Right back. Good news. Why did Norwich want to get rid of him
fletch Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 Never heard of him and don't know anything about him - so I can't comment.
SuperMikey Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 Great signing imo, just the kind of player we need at RB. He's bloody quick as well. Now we just need to wrap up some kind of attacking signing over the next week or so and I shall be extremely happy with this window.
saintray Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 Very good news, Experienced in this league. A right back only 26 still time to improve! Wasn't expecting this!! Proffessionally done, where was all the itk's on this one aye! Well done Mr. Pardew!!!!!
S-Clarke Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 He's a handy player, an attacking wing back if anything - but is prone to odd lapses. will expect him to go straight in at RB, which james moving into midfield.
ottery st mary Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 Why did Norwich want to get rid of him Because they signed a RB from Peterborough called Martin on less wages than JO....who is ex Liverpool youngster and was injured earlier..so hopefully fit and will do us proud down the RB and right side.
Son of Bob Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 Interestingly he made his professional debut for Liverpool in 2002 against.... Saints!
Glasgow_Saint Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 Not yet. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1931958,00.html
Gambol2K9 Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 Seems like an intelligent signing, I'd say our defence is looking pretty solid. Nice one Pardew
dignified_blunderer Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 He was shot in the arse! Just read that on Wikipedia. Unique injury though!
St Landrew Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1931958,00.html And there you go. Ta GS.
Kingsland Red Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 At last our problem position is filled. AP is slowly building his own team and this guy is a useful RB. Once again well done AP / NC .
The Godfather Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 He was shot in the arse! Just read that on Wikipedia. Unique injury though! Was he playing at the time?
Judge_B Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 Didn't he get shot in the arse once. gangster. Indeed. Wonder why Norwich gave him the bullet? Hope he's not going to be a pain in the backside
dignified_blunderer Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 Would have been some motivation if he was playing! But apparently it was in a bar. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jon_Otsemobor
saints_is_the_south Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 Norwich fans don't rate him much... There is a god after all. Most over-rated pile of tosh ever to grace the RB berth. & That should stop them in their tracks http://www.pinkun.com/cs_pinkun/cs/forums/1959516/ShowPost.aspx
Joensuu Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 (edited) I know MLG will laugh at me... but he looks fast from this FM stats: Edited 14 January, 2010 by Joensuu
sfc4prem Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 CRACKING signing, it reminds me of a certain signing at the start of the season of a lad named Dan Harding. He can't be worse than Lloyd James at crossing, can't think of any negatives.
Son of Bob Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 OK, how do you actually pronounce his name then?
SaintRichmond Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 He was shot in the arse! Just read that on Wikipedia. Unique injury though! I'm glad you got to the bottom of that story !!!!!!!!!!
SaintRichmond Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 OK, how do you actually pronounce his name then? "Smith" is the easiest option IMHO:)
dignified_blunderer Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 shot in the arse and whos to blame? could be the start of a song for him there
Glasgow_Saint Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 CRACKING signing, it reminds me of a certain signing at the start of the season of a lad named Dan Harding. He can't be worse than Lloyd James at crossing, can't think of any negatives. Norwich fans can think of plenty! They seem delighted that he's left.
saintbletch Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 Hmm, one worrying comment in the OS article that might rule out further CM signings (Danns, Stock). Otsemobor's arrival will provide immediate cover for Graeme Murty, who is currently on the sidelines through injury and is not expected to return to action for another three weeks, whilst it should also allow Lloyd James to challenge for a more natural midfield slot in the side. As LJ's best position is arguably CM, does this mean we're no longer looking to strengthen there?
ottery st mary Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 Is this a cheeky signing...The Norwich fans are split on this one......Hope we have not dug ourselves into a hole.....Boom. Boom. Welcome JO COYRs
Saint Without a Halo Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 He was shot in the arse! Just read that on Wikipedia. Unique injury though! Explains why he left Liverpool then for Norwich!"
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 Given that their fans don't seem to rate him & he's out of the side at the moment, I'm guessing this must be the player who's not having a good time at his current club?
norwaysaint Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 Reading that forum they seem delighted to have gotten rid of a fairly poor squad player on inflated wages... Hope he has a new lease of life for us, because we've already got a few overpaid squad players. Mind you, he was free, we just need him for a while and it's only a 6 month contract, so it sounds like a reasonable punt.
hypochondriac Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 Hmm, one worrying comment in the OS article that might rule out further CM signings (Danns, Stock). As LJ's best position is arguably CM, does this mean we're no longer looking to strengthen there? I would be confused and a bit upset if we signed all these defenders and no midfielders. To me the midfield balance is the main problem for out squad.
Scudamore Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 6 month contract? That should keep him on his toes!
krissyboy31 Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 He was shot in the arse! Just read that on Wikipedia. Unique injury though! Surely they mean he once had a shot against the Arse(nal)?
Durleyfos Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 OK, how do you actually pronounce his name then? "Jon"
Andy_Porter Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 Given that their fans don't seem to rate him & he's out of the side at the moment' date=' I'm guessing this must be the player who's not having a good time at his current club?[/quote'] Would make sense. Seems like a no risk transfer. If he doesn't shine then James or Murty will play RB and Ostemebor will sit in the reserves untill the summer and be released.
SuperMikey Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 OK, how do you actually pronounce his name then? Ot-sem-o-boar HTH.
Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 OK, how do you actually pronounce his name then? I believe it's pronounced "Ots-emo-boar" (it's a 'soft' 'e', like Elephant, not elongated)
saints_is_the_south Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 If the Norwich fans reactions are anything to go by perhaps this was the player that wasn't doing so well at his club?
Badger Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 Reading that forum they seem delighted to have gotten rid of a fairly poor squad player on inflated wages... Mind you, he was free, we just need him for a while and it's only a 6 month contract, so it sounds like a reasonable punt. Thats the saving grace for this deal,a six month trial.
del boy Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 Given that their fans don't seem to rate him & he's out of the side at the moment' date=' I'm guessing this must be the player who's not having a good time at his current club?[/quote'] Just what I was thinking, and cant go too far wrong with a 6 month deal, keeps options open
hypochondriac Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 Just what I was thinking, and cant go too far wrong with a 6 month deal, keeps options open If he is better than James then it can't be that bad. I just hope Murty recovers soon in case he is poor.
Scudamore Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 (edited) His nickname appears to be Semi. And as i always say a semi lob does the job. http://www.canaries.co.uk/page/NewsDetails/0,,10355~1931972,00.html Edited 14 January, 2010 by Scudamore
krissyboy31 Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 If the Norwich fans reactions are anything to go by perhaps this was the player that wasn't doing so well at his club? He has pace and can tackle. That already makes him a better option than James at RB.
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 14 January, 2010 Posted 14 January, 2010 No risk in a 6 month contract. If he's cr@p, he's cr@p, and we release him at the end of the season. Nicely done guys.
