Andy_Porter Posted 13 January, 2010 Posted 13 January, 2010 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/8456819.stm Over 100k dead and more than 3 million affected. Can't even begin to imagine what it's like out there, 100,000+ people dead is mindblowing. Doesn't seem to be getting any press over here, strange.

Johnny Bognor Posted 13 January, 2010 Posted 13 January, 2010 My mum and dad are on a cruise ship going currently between Columbia and Miami. I do hope there is no tsunami.
Rory Posted 13 January, 2010 Posted 13 January, 2010 Andy's been boozing with Gary Lineker in the Grampus Eight clubhouse all afternoon.

Johnny Bognor Posted 13 January, 2010 Posted 13 January, 2010 (edited) Tsunamis don't affect ships on the open sea, they only become waves as they approach the coast. Cheers for that, got worried for a minute. They have just said on BBC that 100,000 are feared to have been killed. With a population of 8.5 million, that represents 1.25% of the population. That would be equivalent to 750,000 people being killed in the UK. That puts into perspective the scale of the disaster and my sympathies go out to all who have been affected. dune Posted 19 January, 2010 Posted 19 January, 2010 I wish people on TV would pronouce Haiti correctly. It's High-eee-tea, not Hay-tea.
