Supersubpuckett Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11719_5855293,00.html Anyone know if he's any good? Sounds like a popular transfer target.
Nexstar Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 'Versatile defender' sounds promising, can be a RB.
Tac-tics Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 Confused as was told Ward is expected to be tied up this week. Seabourne as RB?
Matthew Le God Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 Been news on the Exeter forums for a while... dan seabornes off to southampton to have medical/sign now after offer has been accepted and it was a good one! http://www.exeweb.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36509
Colinjb Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 Hmmmm, according the the holy gospel (wikipedia) a Centre or Left back.
S-Clarke Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 Seabourne is a left sided CB - exeter fans don't really rate him. the general comments on their forums are -- ''more money than sense?'' ''why would southampton want him?'' ''have they run out of CB's or something?'' jury's out for me, haven't ever seen him play though tbf.
Supersubpuckett Posted 12 January, 2010 Author Posted 12 January, 2010 he looks crap - his head is too small
SNSUN Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 Won't need a new player profile photo, just paste over the Exeter badge. Tis the recession.
Badger Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 Hmmmm, according the the holy gospel (wikipedia) a Centre or Left back. A better and more reliable source than that is Ottery,I'm sure he will give us all the info we need and more.
Joensuu Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 Exeter fans' seem to have mixed opinions on him. Some think he has no talent; some think he has potential to be good. Most seem to agree that if they are getting the (rumoured) £275K for him they'd sell. Interesting quote: Seaborne was always gonna go wasn't he. He has worked hard, improved immeasurably and deserves his chance. He'll bench warm for the rest of this season, then who knows. I believe he could go on to be our most successful cenner half since Richard Dryden...
Red And White Barmy Army Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 did he play on boxing day? the name rings a bell so must have noticed him somewhere recently.

Pilchards Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 Funny one this one, maybe the PR team are using him to push the personal terms in the other deals.
Wiltshire Saint Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 I have never seen him play, but going by what people here have said I think we have made a massive mistake and should sell him asap.
Toadhall Saint Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 Funny one this one, maybe the PR team are using him to push the personal terms in the other deals. Thats what I was thinking.
Matthew Le God Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 Sounds like he may just be cover and/or competition for Harding especially if Ward comes.
Colinjb Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 Three words summarise the need for this signing. Strength in Depth.
krissyboy31 Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 did he play on boxing day? the name rings a bell so must have noticed him somewhere recently. Yes, played CH but I don't know whether he was any good either.
MerceSaint28 Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 That is a bit dissapointing. Being linked with some of the players we have been i feel pretty under whelmed. I think we need to be making a statement and not buying small fry from tiny teams. Their board don't rate him highly at all and that worrys me. Obviously you take some of it with a pinch of salt but im sure we can do better than this guy does this mean the Ward deal is off??? and what about right back?? My worry is that we get a rolls royce of a defender in fonte and now look like buying a sierra. What is going on???????????
CHAZZA 92 Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 I have a mate who has a season ticket at exeter and he doesn't rate him at all. So i hope we arent making a mistake with him.

Bizarre comment, surely we should buy the best players Pardew wants that are available regardless of where they currently play. I hope there are no razor blades in your house mate.

Have some trust please as it might be agents talk or us pressing our current deals through.
Colinjb Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 We need to stay calm, he seems to be a player that polarises opinion but there are some who do seem to rate him quite a lot! Lets not make the grave mistake of writing him off before we have seen him slot into our system of play. Save that instead for Anthony Pulis.
CHAZZA 92 Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 Also he is apparently more of a left back than a centre back so maybe just cover for harding
Winchester Red Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 If you read the whole thread on the Exeter forum more of them rate him than don't. You also have to allow for the f*ckwits who think anyone who doesn't want to play for their team is crap too If AP thinks he can do a job then good signing I say
saintsmike25 Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 I have never seen him play, but going by what people here have said I think we have made a massive mistake and should sell him asap. LOL gotta love how people judge this. He's been playing consistently in a side thats moved up the leagues with Tisdale and in the first team squad I think he'll be competition for harding and cover for defensive area's he's 22 which means he can improve he's got age on his side and can step in when required. The Ward deal isn't going to go through I don't think.
MerceSaint28 Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 Fishy - i just think this is a strange one. We have a lot of squad players and any new signings need to be better than what we have. Now Ward, Danns, Stock are definitely better than what we have. I agree that we don't need to buy players from big clubs just for the sake of it and i do trust Pardew which is something i think i never did with other managers but i don't get this one. Looks like a done deal, i hope he know what he is doing. I would not complain if Seabourne comes in with Ward and potentially Stock and Danns but surely that means at least one defender is out, most likely Thomas. We will see..

You also have to allow for the f*ckwits who think anyone who doesn't want to play for their team is crap too If AP thinks he can do a job then good signing I say It was a very mixed batch but judging from the comments the consensus seems to be he's a talent but he has a lot of holes in his game (as a young defender this really shouldn't be seen as news though.)
thorpie the sinner Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 I agree with the strength in depth comment earlier!!! It would also be a great time to sign Wardy tonight!!!!!! Is the Cov game on and anyone know if he is even on bench tonight?
Colinjb Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 I agree with the strength in depth comment earlier!!! It would also be a great time to sign Wardy tonight!!!!!! Is the Cov game on and anyone know if he is even on bench tonight? The game is on, and the line ups are not yet available.
Saint Charlie Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 Norwich have been chasing him for ages, if he can also cover at LB then good deal!
fish fingers Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 The game is on, and the line ups are not yet available. On ITV4 i think also
Winchester Red Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 Norwich have been chasing him for ages, if he can also cover at LB then good deal! I thought that was a good point.... until I realised that all the offers made were in the last transfer window and that was when Bryan Gunn was in charge.
Stepgar Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 Can't believe that people are writing him off and he hasn't even signed!! Madness, money seems to be going to our heads. If we are not spending more than 500k or they are from a lesser team we are wasting money - geez. The way I see it AP is buying fir now AND the future. If we can buy someone who is not quite ready for our first team but with time an quality coaching could be I'm a couple o years all for 250k. Yes please.
Colinjb Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 On ITV4 i think also Yes, me and my mate may actually go up to the Ricoh in a few minutes, either that or watch it round his place.
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 Also he is apparently more of a left back than a centre back so maybe just cover for harding 4 Left Backs could be seen as a extravagance . Two of them (Harding & Mills) are both good players .
Windmill Arm 2 Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 He has a head like a Kidney bean?? I hope he's good, can't help feeling a bit disappointed after the recent higher profile captures, but everyone deserves their chance.
saintsmike25 Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 I think Mills will be sold ASAP frankly the fact that Pardew bought him on for one game and subbed him after 15 minutes shows he has no faith whatsoever in Mills. Saga is gonna leave on a free by mutual consent in a week too.
Joensuu Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 Interesting list of clubs he is 'linked' with: http://www.thisisexeter.co.uk/sport/Clubs-line-Seaborne/article-1699206-detail/article.html
JibMcdo Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 Dan Seabourne is no left back - out and out centre half.
Katalinic Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 I would say this is the death knell for Lancashire's Saints career. I still expect us to sign Ward and Thomas to go. I see the Seaborne signing as one for the future plus the added bonus that he is a left footed centre back.
Matthew Le God Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 Dan Seabourne is no left back - out and out centre half. Well the Exeter fans on that forum say he has been playing well at left back.
Liquidshokk Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 a head like a monkey nut You are a bad man. I lol'd :-)
JibMcdo Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 Well the Exeter fans on that forum say he has been playing well at left back. He must be playing in a new position to what he has done his whole career then. Never struck me as a full back. His distribution was never his strong point.
hypochondriac Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 He must be playing in a new position to what he has done his whole career then. Never struck me as a full back. His distribution was never his strong point. Isnt he 22?
ottery st mary Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 Very promising Centre Back left side... Quite good in the air and very competent when playing the ball on the ground......Not really a left back although he can play there. If playing the three CB would be left side. He has has at Exeter, a very good CB in Matt Taylor (NO PACE) who attacks most balls and has been the more dominant of the two AS sEABORNE SWEEPS AND PLAYS THE BALL OU ALA fONTE..As stated his contract is almost up and would cost the 200 grand they talk of. I have seen him play a dozen or more games including when captain of the side at Wembley play off 1-0 v Cambridge...He has come up through the side from youth level having had several loans out. Like Olly lots of potential but a year or so more experience. even though only 22 yrs. Not out of his depth in the Div 1 with any of the strikers...I saw him and Taylor play that rough house.. Holt, very well in a 1-1 at Exeter earlier in the season. After Norwich had played Yeovil midweek and Gunn was sacked. Has to be said Norwich have improved a hundred fold since. My own view definitely one for the future......But would LOAN HIM BACK for the remainder of the season..although my earlier view was that Olly Lancs would go on loan to Exeter. Tisdale rates this lad and if true so does someone at Saints?...Norwich ie Lambert OBVIOUSLY rates Whitbread more so than Seaborne. In my view you could get away with Seaborne playing alongside Jaidi/WARD (IF ONLY) but probably not alongside Fonte..too similar. Are we really going to buy him?
