Saint_clark Posted 13 January, 2010 Share Posted 13 January, 2010 Not harsh really, I'm not saying they are c rap footballers, but given the players we are signing and the way we are going I would be willing to bet there is a good chance that none of the 4 you mentioned will ever be in a Saints starting line-up again. Maybe so, but they could improve over the next couple of years and be worth a lot more
SoccerMom Posted 13 January, 2010 Share Posted 13 January, 2010 Thomson is not a RB, and i think has decent potential. Can't believe you want rid of paterson, perhaps on loan but the boy has decent work rate and potential. Mills, again decent potential. Mclaggon, i am not really sure he will make the team tbh, so i would agree to letting him leave for 1st team football. All four of these players are still very young, and their physiques may change dramatically in the next few years, which will strengthen them no end. Mills has plenty of skill but is still way too lightweight; ditto Paterson. Both still need plenty of experience around them to help them play well. Thomson, IMHO, may have the least to offer at the end of that time, but still worth loaning out regularly until he has stopped developing. McLaggon, again IMHO, has the most potential of the lot. I get the impression that filling out won't slow him down, as is always the risk with young, fast attacking players. From what I've seen he has a decent touch, reads the game well, and isn't afraid to take on defenders. Loan him until he's ready.
RonManager Posted 13 January, 2010 Share Posted 13 January, 2010 Thomson, IMHO, may have the least to offer at the end of that time, but still worth loaning out regularly until he has stopped developing. I know 2 Torquay fans who go regularly to Plainmoor and both have said that they consider Thomson to be their most creative midfielder, so it looks like a run in another team is improving him considerably. saint1977 Posted 13 January, 2010 Share Posted 13 January, 2010 I've got a complete team to move on.... ---------------------------------Poke------------------------------------- Thompson--------------Mills-------------Thomas-----------------Molyneaux Holmes----------------Gillet-------------Pulis-------------------McClaggon --------------------------Saga-----------Paterson----------------------- Sub: Boyle (in 80s one sub allowed style!) Maybe Marcus could enter a team in a Sunday league? Out of those I would only keep Mills and McLaggon and perhaps loan on Paterson to L2 to see if he could get some form going. Holmes puts good crosses in but lacks that yard of pace needed. Thomas doesn't seem to be rated by AP and Perry is probably going to retire at the end of the season so signing Ward wouldn't be fanciful - even with Seaborne we'll need the options. Chez Posted 13 January, 2010 Share Posted 13 January, 2010 Saints don't have a player called Thompson. I guess you mean Jake Thomson, and he is not a right back. yet to prove he can play in midfield either though.
Macey_J2 Posted 13 January, 2010 Share Posted 13 January, 2010 From the games iv seen this season Wayne Thomas has played well at CB, but with the incoming defenders, id accept an offer for him. Molyneaux isnt the sort of character i want at my club, apparently isnt the mr popular in the changing room and has already been told to go back to Liverpool. Gillet's staying up in Doncaster, good move for him imo. I think we should try to off load Paul Wotton, he takes 10 minutes to control the ball when he gets it and his style of play doesnt fit with the fast flowing one touch passing that llana, Hammond and the rest play. He cant keep up. Jake Thomson has been playing for Trinidad and Tabago both u21 for in Senior squad and is only still only 20, i think hes got potential to be a decent player in the future. Saganowski definately needs to go, anywhere! He hasnt turned out to be the player his game seemed to promise afew years ago.
St Marco Posted 14 January, 2010 Author Share Posted 14 January, 2010 So with a signing of another defender think we can assume Thomas has probably gone then. Hopefully i am wrong as i quite like him. He is on daft wages but that is not his fault, our ex crap manager and board are to blame for that one.
