aintforever Posted 11 January, 2010 Posted 11 January, 2010 It's stupid ideas like this that make you want to vote Tory. I couldn't think of a better way to stop the work-shy getting off their lazy asses than by giving them a free computer and free connection to a bottomless pit of porn. The most annoying thing is you can guarantee this dumb idea was thought up by some idiot on the public sector gravy train who is completely devorced from the real world and hasn't got a clue how ordinary working people feel about having their taxes ****ed up the wall in this way.
View From The Top Posted 11 January, 2010 Posted 11 January, 2010 No, but with the right connection, authorisation and a good 'killstreak' you could always call in a predator drone. 5 is not a good killstreak.
Crab Lungs Posted 11 January, 2010 Posted 11 January, 2010 5 is not a good killstreak. I'm avoiding you online. :-o

dune Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 What's the problem? Prudence Brown the one eyed clown has done such a fantastic job with public finances we have money to throw away.

badgerx16 Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 fortunately after the election much of this nonsense will be stopped Don't you believe it. All power corrupts........
GenevaSaint Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 Since when did you need a laptop to go to school? I got my first laptop for my 18th birthday, barely 2 months before I left school. We didn't even have broadband in my house at all until I was 16. This is just a bullsh*t scheme to try and buy votes. There is no way the laptops are going to be used for their intended purposes. When I was in school/college, and this was only 4 or 5 years ago, my grades were sent home to my parents in an envelope on a piece of A4 paper, along with my attendance record. As for using them for school work... well, my school had text books and an I.T. room or two. I wouldn't have called it a particularly posh school, but perhaps I have been misinformed. As people have also said, what is particularly wrong with libraries? Overall it's a terrible waste of money IMO. Especially when there are people fighting in the Middle East with badly outdated and insufficient equipment. I wouldn't say the whole keep up with the kids progress is a valid argument. I still receive paper reports for my daughter at secondary school and the ones at primary. I would honestly say that children at secondary school are at a reasonable disadvantage without a PC though. At least, that's what I've seen from my daughters 2 years at St Annes. She does an awful lot of work in Office (primarily PPT and Word with a little Excel). I know there's the ability to use the library, but they don't have nearly enough computers, my local library PCs are always busy. Vote buying, yeh so what, they're all up to it! More lies and BS coming our way in the next six months. Which leads me onto..... Cracking cover on the front of the latest Private Eye, certainly made me chuckle! http://www.private-eye.co.uk/covers.php?showme=1253&
saint_bert Posted 12 January, 2010 Posted 12 January, 2010 fortunately after the election much of this nonsense will be stopped yeah. Were all be hugging hoodies
