sorry to ask but... is he any good?

better than Schneiderlin / Hammond?

Considerably so?

or 3 competing for 2 places?

seen him play a few times. Best way to describe him would be a poor mans lampard, just throw in a few more tackles. But hopefully you get the idea. Likes to arrive late in the opposition box. Something hammond and morgan dont currently do

Agreed, the player that we have been screaming out for imo, a player with decent offensive attributes, intelligent and has good passing ability.

Who would sit out of hammond or morgan though ??

All 3 can play in the 451 and rotate in the 442 to accommodate Connolly. These are Pardew's two systems he has been using this season.

If the rumoured signings happen...

442

                     Davis

Murty/James Ward/Jaidi Fonte Harding

Antonio/Danns Schniederlin/Hammond/Stock Lallana
                       (2 of 3)

             Connolly/Waigo Lambert

451

                        Davis

Murty/James Ward/Jaidi Fonte Harding

                     Schneiderlin

                Hammond Stock

Antonio/Danns Lallana/Waigo

                       Lambert

Asked my mate, whose a PNE supporter, about Stock as he was on loan there before he went to Doncaster. My mate reckons he played 3 games for them and was MOTM in them all. Couldn't believe it that Preston didn't try and sign him up.

i had a look on the PNE forums last night and that was the opinion of about 90% of them too.

will be a cracking signing.

Sorry, didn't mean it the way i said it, not sit out. But who would sit lol

I am not convinced that morgan is the man for a holding DM role, great player of the ball but is he man enough ?? Hammond possibly for me, but this would take away his box to box play.

Stock would sit in the defensive mid role, his natural position.

Right ... this is getting a little silly now.

What on earth is the point of deciding that the info is too sensitive for broadcast and deleting the actual thread (which is fine in itself, don't get me wrong), but then allowing a new thread which makes it quite clear what was said in the first place??!!?!?

There should be a clear moderating position on this and at the moment it appears that there's no clear concensus about what should / shouldn't be talked about.

The info itself (the nature of which I shan't go into now that it's been decided not to publish it further) was online for less than 10mins before it was mutually decided that it should be removed. In contrast, this thread which goes over the situation in great detail, has been here all day. Ask yourselves, how many people saw the original post in comparison to how many people have learnt about the situation by reading this thread today?!?!?!

Finally, I'm disappointed by the way in which the info appeared on the Donny Fans' Forum within minutes of it appearing here. I thought sharing the original info with fellow Saints fans was in the spirit of the forum, but taunting Doncaster fans with it is another thing entirely and puts Stock in a difficult position.

I have heard from Stock today and discussed the situation and things are ok. I would not advise anybody to try and contact him about the situation. Things are ok, but pushing at the situation further and further could make things take a turn for the worst in my opinion.

The images are no longer online unless they have been saved by others and duplicated. In the spirit of the decisions made here, I would suggest that people refrain from reposting any copies of the info until the transfer situation has been clarified.

I'm not going to engage in any further debate about it, I have nothing to prove about the rumours and, in my opinion, all talk of the situation should now be banned, at least until the signing has or has not occurred.

Fingers crossed for good news this week.

+1 well said joe. For everyone complaining about 'censorship' who seem to feel as though this is a human rights issue need to understand that a MUTUAL decision by those present was made because we felt it was in the best interests of the club.

You may well say that one forum cant scupper a deal but i'd rather not take that risk!

Isn't it nice to think that we are probably better candidates for premiership football in the forseable future than at least half of the teams in the league above us ???

Strange, and stocky is a massive saints fan. If the offer is right, he will wear the red and white

We're offering to pay a lot more money them those other teams has more to do with it I think.

Sotonjoe has a good point its all good talking gossip but I'ts not fair to get the player in trouble it really is not fair the person who recieved it could have just said they feel it will happen and wont revel source, then its still gossip. OR PM a trusted person to confirm at the most I really hope this deal happens and nothing bad will come of it for Stock.

strange as I see both Morgan and Hammond as better pushing on than holding. Danns likes to attack as well so you just wonder where the more defensive midfielder is.

So' date=' we have a thread about Brian Stock, which has been withdrawn, and a thread about the thread about Brian Stock, which was withdrawn. But does anyone know, without doing something which gets this thread withdrawn, whether we're actually any closer to signing him?![/quote']

I dont think so but I think we will sign a midfielder in the next week or so

Could be him

saint_steve suggests he an attacking midfielder. Who's right?

My boss is a Bournemouth season ticket holder and when I asked him about Stock he said "good player, has a touch of arrogance about him. Excellent set piece taker, he'll take the ball off the back four and build attacks".

So sounds to me a player who will sit and pull the strings rather than bomb forward.

So we are signing Danns / Stock / Tyson / Ward along with Fonte. I would imagine that would add up to about £6million for that lot plus wages etc.

Now i know we dont have to pay a mortgage any longer and gates are up a bit but even we cannot sustain that spending in this league without making a loss which as i understood it the owners did not want too happen. As well as the fact that realistically we will still be in this league next season barring a championship winning form until the end of the season.

Cannot for one minute believe we will sign that lot. One possibly from that lot - probably Danns or Stock - and then a striker...that'll be it.

... and, provided that you buy good players, with a few years left in them, the transfer fee is not really an issue. You would expect to get that back, and a bit more, if you need to.

The real issue is wages, and we have a very good income for this league, due to the almost astonishing attendance figures and the cup runs. NC doesn't seem to me to be the type to bust the budget on a whim or an ego trip.

you'd have thought he would get bored replying....

oh and on another topic, a forest fan posted saying he's heard rumours of Nathan Tyson coming down to us.

fwiw i heard we were after him in the summer. (and then there was another link with him a few weeks ago)

That has got to be about player number 10 that we have been linked with over the last week or so. Lets face it we are going to be linked with every half decent player in the CCC that is close to the end of their contract because we have an owner with a few bob in the bank.

First up I expect the players and the management team are training in Spain this morning as you would not leave first thing after staying the night.

So let's say the flight gets to Soton late afternoon, we then have talks and medicals which would suggest some news late tonight or early Weds morning.

It's gonna be a long wait guys!
