Good news.

But two sigings of around 1mil pushed through nice and early in the window, leaves me hoping agents don't start messing with the heads of Lallana or Morgan. We sure don't want or need to sell but the magical agent's words - "you're only one bad tackle from a life on the dole" can undo a great deal of other positive news.

Let's see if things really are moving the right way for us on the good news front, as these signings at this time could really push us on.

Now we just need cover for Lambo and Murty & we may just start to push on again

Positive outlook Phillip! ;0)

I am over the moon with the Fonte signing &, funnily enough, met a Palace lad last night who had nothing but good words about José. Sadly, I didn't ask about Dann's as I didn't know about it until today. I am loving this new board (& transfer policy) who prudently care about the FOOTBALL & the ambition they have. A sentiment that's evaded all recent predecessors!

However, I entirely agree with you Phil. Crying out for a right back (but I have faith...please Alan!) & really need striker cover for Lambert. Being greedy, a wide left player too (outside left, not a WIDE, FAT player!)

Seems we're building for the next phase - The Championship! GTFI

According to Roy Danns: Roy and Neil Danns are cousins. Neil Danns is mixed race. And the transfer is definitely on.

Less certain was Roy's assertion that Neil will be signing forms in the pub, witnessed by Thai the pub dog wearing a full Saints kit...

dont know if it has been said..

im sure I read someone where Danns was born in southampton and/OR his parents own a pub in the city..?

Definately born in Liverpool, Blackburn Academy, if my family tree researches are good I would bet that his family originate from British Guiana.

Not sure about this one, I know a few people claim that he's definitely coming, and that his cousin owns a pub here or whatever, but over on the Palace forum people claimed to have talked to him and he's said he's staying. Similarly his comments on twitter don't suggest any sort of movement.

Also rumours that top CCC teams are after him, so surely he'd go there before coming to us?

people who are speculating on possible midfield line-ups, im not having ago as it can be good fun to try and second guess whats in the managers mind, BUT would it not be very strange if he would drop Hammond after making him his captain?

I doubt he'd drop Hammond or Schneiderlin.

I'm openminded about this to be honest.Yes he'd potentially be a major signing for us in L1 based on all the reports read, but personally I'd prefer Stock.

Having said that still don't believe Stock is a likely signing for us.

Exactly my thoughts! would be very suprised if we could bring in players better than these 2, even if we were competing at the top of the champ!

Aren't we going for a 4-5-1 anyway?

Connolly's great but I'd rather have a trio in the midfield and then have Lallana and Waigo out wide, and let Lambo do the biz on his own up front.

Which is what Pards likes anyway - so Danns essentially replaces Wotton, in a like-for-like-but-better kinda way.

Well I don't think he does because he's an attacking midfielder. So although he would replace him in the line up, he wouldn't play the same position. I'd imagine if we did sign him and play 451 that either Morgan or Hammond would drop back and play the 'Wotton role'.

How are we going to fit Pulis in?

Does anyone have Pulis on the back of their shirt? I could imagine him hiding behind the dressing gowns at the megastore waiting for the first...

Don't know much about Danns, but certainly looking forward to seeing the new arrivals play!

I doubt Thai the dog would fit in a saints shirt tbh, it's like a bloody horse!

Unsubstantiated rumours flying around about Doncaster Rovers Brian Stock. Who would be a truly amazing signing for a League One side. Doncaster's best player.

Why would it be such a surprise? We just signed one of Palace's best players and heavily linked with another and they are a better side than Doncaster on paper! Plus he's a local lad and it seems two or three people on here claim to know him and state the rumours have some legs. I am prepaired to believe it for the moment at least!!!

Anybody bothered to look at Donny's fans forum to see if they have wind of anything?

http://boards.footymad.net/forum.php?tno=184&fid=96&sty=2&act=1&mid=2123320111

that's all i could find. Started by a saints fan (bit of a stupid tone by him as well tbf), but none of them believe it - they say he's too good for L1.

but one of them does say his wife moved south the other month and his family live in the city..

it doesn't seem to have been as ''strong'' as the stock and fonte links.

you never know though.

The only solid link that we got regarding Danns was the fact that we were mentioned it as being interested in him on that local London news site. (The one that broke the Fonte story originally).

Guess we'll have to wait until the middle of next week to find out.
