david in sweden Posted 9 January, 2010 Share Posted 9 January, 2010 (edited) ...at Burnley. After the recent game of musical chairs between Bolton and Burnley, the latter is desperately looking for a new manager ASAP Two names in the frame (acc. to BBC site) are; Simon Grayson (Leeds) and Paul Lambert (Norwich) It's not only players who move at this time of the year:eek: OK I know - all that talk about club loyalty blah, blah, but Burnley are likely to offer the type of money that these two fellows could only dream about. If either one of them makes the move, it might certainly cause some upset to one of these top sides, and maybe break their run of form ? (Recalling our own sad history after Strachan's sudden departure) Mmmm makes you think, eh? one can only hope:) ..that Burnley choose the right man. Ponty Posted 9 January, 2010 Share Posted 9 January, 2010 I think Lambert has already rejected it publicly and I can't see Grayson going anywhere either. I think they'll be looking elsewhere.
RonManager Posted 9 January, 2010 Share Posted 9 January, 2010 Paul Lambert has stated categorically on SSN yesterday that he is not interested and gave in depth reasons why. Grayson, however....apparently the Leeds appointment was his 'dream' job but stranger things have happened at sea etc ec.
Minty Posted 9 January, 2010 Share Posted 9 January, 2010 Nicely misleading and provocative subject title there...

As soon as Burnley ask for permission to speak to the manager, you know it's only a matter of time before .....:smt116 ..they get an offer they can't refuse ! Neither Leeds or Norwich are particularly " flush " with cash and Prem. economics are on another planet to L1.
Evil Monkey Posted 9 January, 2010 Share Posted 9 January, 2010 Paul Lambert has stated categorically on SSN yesterday that he is not interested and gave in depth reasons why. That he's not allowed to manage 3 clubs in one season?

How long before he gets Leeds into the Prem..... on their budget?
SuperMikey Posted 9 January, 2010 Share Posted 9 January, 2010 I doubt they'll come sniffing around L1 for a manager, I reckon they'll plump for a CCC manager. Coleman perhaps, he did a decent job at Fulham when he was manager there and set it up nicely for Hodgson to come in and take them to where they are now. I don't think Pardew would want to go either. He has the chance to build an empire here at SMS, and i'm not sure he's the type who'd just throw it away to go to a club that's looking likely for relegation now. The only way that Burnley would've stayed up this season is if Coyle had stayed, and now he's gone I think they're really in the poo unless they can pull a great managerial appointment out of the bag. Shame, because I follow Burnley's results and i've always had a soft spot for them, which intensified when they beat Reading in the play-offs and had Coyley as the manager (who was managing my 2nd team St Johnstone before). Toomer Posted 9 January, 2010 Share Posted 9 January, 2010 Some one like Paul Jewell will end up there.
oxfordshire_saint Posted 9 January, 2010 Share Posted 9 January, 2010 Even with their soon to be short-lived Prem status, I doubt Burnley can afford to throw massive amounts of cash around. Their ground is pretty small by Prem standard and I doubt they generate that much income. Rather than have to pay compo for a currently employed manager they'd be better off getting someone currently out of work and spending money on the team instead. Down with the Pompey, they're going down with the Pompey........
RedAndWhite91 Posted 9 January, 2010 Share Posted 9 January, 2010 I'll do it. If I can do it on FM08 then I can do it in real life.
