Neil Danns

who knows what going on???

He was asked about bids that had come in, and sounds like one was from us. Also sounded like that particular bid was not accepted.

Pardew has now said no more signings.

Maybe he is playing it cool, or maybe he means what he said and now that bid was turned down we are finished?

He made these comments at 5pm today. Would he bother mentioning it in the way he did if Saints interest had ended? Sounded like he was trying to fend Saints off still.

How times have changed, not many months back we'd have been the ones doing the fending off:)

As I understand:

We bid for Danns at same time as Fonte.

Bid #1 declined

Bid #2 accepted

Danns had talks with us and passed a medical but didn't agree our offer.

I would imagine that our offer, which was accepted pre-admin for Palace was more generous than what the administrators would accept (the best they can get).

That was mid January and I have not spoken to the person who told me all this since then.

Speculating, it may be that the administrator will now accept a revised Saints lower offer for the transfer fee and we can then offset this discount against Danns' wage demands. If Saints were happy with a figure for the TCO (Total cost of ownership) 2 weeks back then they may have re-visited given that we could now give Danns what he wanted for the same outlay.

I note we have since purchased Puncheon and this might render all of what I have said obsolete.

If that is all true, and it seems plausible then perhaps Danns just doesnt want to drop into L1?

Perhaps. I am told our wage offer was a fair bit better than what he was on at Palace. He did however give us a figure he would accept, and we didn't agree to it.

Hopefully the administrators will need to sell him and he will be persuaded to join us. Suprised no other teams, especially CCC teams are in for him.

If the administrator is doing his job..he will have to sell anyone who he can get money for...even the tea lady ..if she makes good tea.

After monday he can't sell anyone and the club will get £0.

selling Moses, Danns and other could bring millions and pay salaries and taxes..thats his task!

Danns is your typical modern day footballer. He will wait until a few minutes until the transfer deadline runs out...see if any other better offers come in...and then put pen-to-paper.

Call me cynical, but...

Cynical...

Not many modern day footballers attend college to better themselves and donate proceeds from their record to Haiti appeal.

So - according to Solent (who had a reporter at Palace's post-match press meeting) - we have offered £600,000 for Danns & Palace are mulling over the offer over the weekend. Neil Warnock (when questioned about the offer) just shrugged his shoulders & said a move to Southampton would be "a step backwards" for Danns - presumably as we're L1?

I bet Fonte feels good about that particular comment! If Danns wants to come, then Warnock can suck it. If Palace aren't careful, we'll be spanking them next season in League One.

Pardew never actually said on Solent that we're not after anymore players...he cleverly turned the question around by stating that due to our financial power in this league, then we have no need to sell players before Tuesday. Could well still be after Danns then!

He did say "No", but yes he very swiftly moved on!

you really have no faith in our players have you, always wanting one more and then one more.

Quality players are always required if they're at the right price. Yes the squad is big, but if we can sign a player at the right price now, why wait until the summer. The rebuilding for next season has already begun! I would agree with you if he was an average player though.

Quotes from a Mr N Warnock of South London :)

Exactly! He would say that...

..and as such a player,he might of course play out of his skin just before the deadline, scoring two goals in a superhuman performance*,to secure (either a lucrative contract) or move

*otherwise known as a Saganowski move.

Not entirely sure if Warnock is responding to an offer that's been rejected or not? Coupled with Pards saying we're not signing anyone else, I'm not sure if there's legs in this deal

I saw his goals yesterday and they were both absolute quality. He would be an absolute top-draw signing us.

Would be the missing link, the heartbeat of the team - busy, energetic, capable of breaking play up in a way Wotton can't and allowing us to maintain a high tempo (a problem with the slightly ambling/pedestrian Hammond and Schneiderlin). Nobody gives us that at the moment.

I'd generously raise the offer one more time. Fact is we're on the way up and they're on the way down - contrary to what warnock says ambition has nothing to do with it, as most palace supporters admit.

F**king Warnock over would also be a nice side-benefit!

AP and any other bottom half championship team or league one team manager would snap him up if they could, if was true and he turned us down he was stupid (unless he excepted a midtable championship team to bid for him ) because lets be honest we probs have the best team in the league now with strength in depth, and with his talents wining most of are games would be almost certain every week the team played to its best or close to, and he would be a championship player again next season with a club wanting to be in the prem or going to the prem within 2 seasons.

For the right price I'm sure AP would sign him, even after what was said on the os yesterday.

That's the point. AP has said our market activity is over.

I'm not saying we will sign Danns and I'm not saying we wont. My point is that what is written on the os isn't written in stone. If circumstanes were such that a last minute opportunity to sign Danns at a price that suits us was to present itself then AP might seriously have to consider it.

I hope so but personally doubt it will happen.

Exactly. If the administrators come back to us out of desperation and say "you can have him for your original offer" then i'd imagine we'll accept.
I doubt it very much. We had our target positions and they have been filled. Cortese will not sanction any further. The Dans offer was around the same time as they were negotiating Puncheon, keeping options open. With his signing that closes that option.

Think Ward & Seaborne. Same situation applied then, in my opinion

I would think that if we were still trying to bring another midfielder in we'd be desperately trying to ship one out. AP says it isn't happening and that's good enough for me.

How ignorant is Warnock, advising Danns to stay against the administrators need to sell players to raise urgent funds before the transfer deadline.

Because he is a good player and Warnock needs him if they are not to relegated.

He did score twice Yesterday

If they need to raise £1.5m plus Victor Moses money by the deadline then I would have thought it in Warnock's interest to sell anyone who any club is offering money for.

It is a strange situation as whilst they desperately need money to play the monthly wages effectively they only have 24 hours sales time left, then slowly die.

(Unless Leon Crouch pops along)
