Yes, he played for Palace in the FA Cup.

Is the Crystal Palace OS blocked for you Delldays? ;)

Have to smile when you first go onto their website when you get SALE! splashed across the screen. I feel sorry for them though after what we went through.

My FD is a Palace fan, he came into my office last week moaning about the fact we'd bought Fonte, he could be even more p***** off soon.

From a Palace connnection of mine

Saints interest in Puncheon has cooled somewhat.

They have put in a 2nd bid for Danns of Palace this morning, and are not actively chasing up on their Puncheon bid, which has been accepted by Plymouth.

Also, they are favourites to get Scott Arfield after Preston pulled out of the bidding war for the Falkirk ace.

Arfield would be available both in the FA Cup and JPT.

Should they get Danns, who will also be available for them in the JPT, they may withdraw from the Puncheon chase.

If Pardew succeeds with these two bids, it's felt he would not be prepared to 'haggle' with MK DONS over Puncheons release from his loan contract.

Patred,

How does your Palace connection know about Arfield?

And Puncheon?

Not doubting you but' date=' in time honoured tradition, source? Good source or rumour on the grapevine?[/quote']

Someone i know outside the club but has a good contact in the club and has heard there was a signing this morning. They have no real interest in footie but gave me the name , but could not confirm it was 100% done.

I'd say the info relayed to me was with 100% good intention and probably 7/8 out of 10 chance of being correct.

Excellent news. So better than the usual mate, of a mate, of a mate rumours then!

It doesn't matter how many central or right midfielders unless we have somebody wide left we are going to continue narrow and lumping it up front.

MK Dons can't block Puncheon's permanent transfer under FA rules. They either have to buy him permanently or let him go. Any fee paid for the loan is a matter between Plymouth and MK Dons.

Lee Holmes is good lad, he can do the business, providing he gets the starts he requires in order to become fully "match" fit.

I would like Puncheon, but we can wait until the Summer if the deal is somehow stunted by that tw*t Paul Ince.

How do you know Saints weren't in for him?

I think it is unlikely as Saints don't need another striker.

Still instead of Barnard perhaps? who is no doubt a great little player but he missed an open goal..well a 1 on 1 anyway... on tuesday.I really do question the quality of some of our acquisitions and targeted players ,still will time will tell.

no not really but I'd have thought we were targeting players who are actually

playing above our current standard.Fonté is the only one who fits that billing. Obviously Danns would as well or Stock but as yet we haven't finalised either of those signings. We need to give Barnard time to settle in obviously but if it was a choice between he and McSheffrey I know who I'd take, because we're supposed to be looking for players who can move on up with us.

Murty

Harding

Jaidi

Fonte

Connolly

Papa Waigo

Trotman

Mellis

Antonio

All came from teams in a higher League than Saints.

Hammond was Colchester captain last year and one of their best players.

Lambert was last years League One top scorer with 29 goals. (current top scorer with 19 in the League)

Barnard has scored 15 League One goals this season for a poor Southend side. (current 4th highest in the League)

Only Lambert, Holt and Beckford have more than Barnard. Norwich, Leeds and Saints have been creating lots of chances for strikers. Barnard at Southend had to do it all on his own. Making his 15 goals even more impressive.

I give up, have it your own way, we are a fabulous side full of top class talent who just can't beat Brentford or Millwall.

When did I say that? All I was doing is proving your statement that we weren't signing players from higher teams.

Also read what I said about Barnard at the end of the previous post. You are the one that judged him based on one shot in his second ever game so maybe I should give up with you!!! ;)

MLG..if our team has so many players of a higher standard to league 1...why are we mid table...?

You don't really, seriously, want a reply to this do you ? Please tell me you don't.

Shall I give you a small clue why we are mid-table ? minus 10 points. No pre-season. A new team still being constructed as we speak. Do you want me to go on ?

Have we had all of those players since the start of the season?...No

Did Pardew get a full pre-season to work with them?...No

Does the -10 distort the actual achievements?...Yes

Do I think despite all this Saints should have been higher?...Yes, Pardew still should have done better, but he hasn't done badly.

-10

January transfer window - 4 new key signings

- Team gelling

- Lack of pre-season.

- Getting rid of losing mentality to a winning won.

It's fair to say our "slow" start to the season is the main reason now we'll achieve higher mid-table and miss out on the playoffs but with -10 the playoffs was just a bit of a non-starter in reality, 5 year plan remember hoping to get us up within 2 seasons. Still there's a chance we could go on a run if we get to the JPT final & beat Pompey, we have to play alot of top teams at home lets not forget that, thats gonna be the make or break we HAVE to beat the Swindons/Charltons/Huddersfields/Leeds then if we put away the poorer teams we'll be in with a shout.
