Whilst not saying anything against the OP at all, i doubt the Fonte deal has been in the pipeline for long. We would at the very least have found out if we could offer enough wages, and if he would be willing to move to the area (the two things stated for this deal supposedly falling through).

 

I think Fonte was the First Choice CB as we have not made an official approach for Ward yet

Oh god, not more 'in the know' crap, I thought that disappeared with the dark lord and LLS.

 

You'll never stop it. You just have to learn who to trust and not to trust and make up your own mind about every rumour that comes forth. If someone is willing to make such predictions then their own credibility is on the line.

 

Personally, the fact that JackanorySFC HASN'T revealed a name and has remained loyal to his friend gives me the impression that this is true. But each to their own.

He doesn't need one as he's a european national. He's portugese.

 

Personally I hope this rumour has some fact behind it, as my Palarse mate says that he's brilliant. He could certainly DAJFU.

Same here in Sweden - I asked about him and they say that hes their best defender and they will hate to sell him. BUT they are skint and really really needs the money.

Nick, have you read the opening post? No, we don't know exactly who it is, but it is supposed to be someone who would be rated as a 'big' signing, and who is apparently friends with Fonte.

 

I thought JackacnorySFC's post was quite clear, maybe I was wrong...!?!

As far as i know he is really happy at Reading because of the style of football they play and he wouldn't think of leaving

But equally i know how it feels to be on the recieving end, i think we went into admin at the right time, it's like a sweet shop out there for potential investors now and i seriously believe a big team will go completely bust.

 

Fifa/FA etc etc have a lot of sorting out to do

I just made that name up. He has played one game for Sheff U this season and quite a few for Reading... as his appearance for Sheff was in the league cup, does the 3 team rule work?

 

Wouldnt mind seeing him here... always good to have a Saints fan or three in the team.

The "fonte" of all knowledge wiki is claiming he signed a 2 year deal with Saints today!!! HTH :p

 

The other day wiki also said that we had signed Elliot Ward, but the next day he controversially quit to start up a jam factory with Rudi Skacel.

I think we can all agree that site is a heap of poo!!! I only went on there to see who he had previously played for and it seems Palace and Benfica might be the only links to anyone who he may previously have played with, so i guess it could just be someone playing for another london club or and ex palace player?

They were both at Benfica and moved to the UK at roughly the same time. Actually I think Marco Júlio Castanheira Afonso Alves Ferreira is no longer at Leicester, so it won't be him.

Quite simply, JackanorySFC is friends with another player (NOT Fonte) who Saints have had a bid accepted for, and who is hoping to complete the move to Saints in the next few days. This player is supposedly, in JackacnorySFC's view, a pretty big signing who has been looked at by Premiership clubs.

His brother already plays in the top flight in Portugal which rules him out. The OP states that the mystery player isn't currently in the top flight and clubs are looking to make him go up a division.

Indeed. A Championship player being touted to move to the Prem. Probably quite a few of those though.

just spoke to a friend whose a palace fans and knows a lot of palace players very well....says, and i quote "all my boys at palace know something is going on with him, he's defo gonna move but not sure if he's drop a division though. And yeah they are aware saints are a rich and wealthy club these days!"

 

Maybe he'll think about a pay rise and the possibility to just be playing league 1 football for 3-4 months max?? We'll see...watching sky sports news like a hawk now!
