Huntingdon Posted 17 January, 2010 Posted 17 January, 2010 I hope NC & ML and we fans give Pardew time He's a good manager, has a good eye for a player and will get us to the PL History should show Saints fans that we have achieved more as a club when we supported our manager
chi saint Posted 17 January, 2010 Posted 17 January, 2010 Just in case there is any confusion, personally I think he doing a decent job, certainly justifies a number seasons to get everything together. He's a relatively young manager, certainly seems respected within the game and should be given plenty of time to develop both the team and his own strategy. I think if we show loyalty towards him in these early years he seems the sort of guy who would do likewise when other clubs come sniffing as they inevitably do as we climb back up the leagues Finally and in some ways I want him to stay and be successful as i'm fed up with us having a managerial revolving door policy and want to return to the days of a stable Saints where were seen as a club to look up to and players want to come to for the quality of the club and not the size of the wage packet.

We're being linked with top top championship players ffs. he's not going to get that flexibility anywhere else, he's here to stay. not forgetting... one of the RICHEST owners in the Football League IMHO ..If AP gets to be manager of a Prem.side again ..it will be with Saints.
SFC Forever Posted 17 January, 2010 Posted 17 January, 2010 Nothing in the world of football should surprise us any more. I certainly would not be surprised if they got rid of him at the end of the season. I would think though that they would need to have a man ready to step into his shoes before removing him.
Whitey Grandad Posted 17 January, 2010 Posted 17 January, 2010 I think he is part of the long-term plan. I don't think he was chosen for this league but for the next two. Otherwise we ('they') would have appointed a proven manager at the level, such as Lambert, with a view to attracting someone a bit more heavyweight once we reached the promised land.

We would have to have had an appalling end to the season for NC to sack Pardew this season. We'll finish eighth bare minimum this year which will be disappointing but not surprising considering the start we made, we can still make the play offs. Pardew will have next season to get us promoted but I think NC and AP will both know it will be "promotion without fail". He is and will be given everything he could reasonably expect and more so will have no complaints if he fails next year and is removed. NC I don't think will be trigger happy but he will expect results next season if we don't do it this, and so he should.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 18 January, 2010 Posted 18 January, 2010 Look Markus and Nicola have a 5-year plan. For that reason AP will be here for at least two years/seasons. After that he may be here for more - depends if the business is running well (i.e. if we get to the play-offs but lose in the final should he be sacked? I think not). However, I suspect he will need to be in CCC breaking even by the end of the 2010-11 season for his job to be completely safe. After that who knows? If possible I would support him for as long as possible because I think he is good fit for the club and unless things are going horribly wrong longevity in the managerial position is a good thing.
ghq Posted 18 January, 2010 Posted 18 January, 2010 At the end of the current season, if we have a total mumber of points that added to the 10 we lost, are up with those of the higher placed play off teams, then Pardew has done a good job. He then has to improve on that next season to be sure of his tenure at the club. That's the way I see it at the moment. Of course there could be circumstances to hinder this achievement, such as horrific injury problems which would affect the outcome, but generally that would be the minimum requirement in my opinion.
