S-Clarke Posted 7 January, 2010 Share Posted 7 January, 2010 why did you need to do a soft reboot? did you do some sort of firmware/software update? if so, the firmware/OS on the device may be screwed. first off - download and run the latest firmware install on the PC from the blackberry/RIM website (do this before plugging it in, make sure you have blackberry desktop manager installed too...) https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/browseSoftware.do;jsessionid=6596241065E9EE2A40A53BE902E1E0C1.node1 then plug the blackberry into your PC via USB and install/run this app - http://www.blackberryfreaks.com/JL_Cmder.html set it to wipe the device, that will completely clear the OS from the blackberry and then you can use the desktop manager to connect to the device and upload the firmware you installed earlier. bear in mind though, if you haven't done any backups - you'll loose any custom settings/custom applications/call logs/sms texts/stored emails etc. I support blackberries in my job and that JL_CMder is brilliant for fixing seemingly dead devices. the 8310's seem to be the worst culprits... saint_stevo Posted 8 January, 2010 Share Posted 8 January, 2010 can you not download desktop manager and plug the device in and export the contact? EDIT- suppose not if it goes off immediatly. S-Clarke, i also support BB's in my job, 8100, 8300, 8800, 8900's. Gonna give JL_CMder a go for some of the seemingly knackered devices i have sat in my draw! exit2 Posted 9 January, 2010 Share Posted 9 January, 2010 Gonna give JL_CMder a go for some of the seemingly knackered devices i have sat in my draw! Make sure they have the latest OS on them first as sometimes it doesnt work. But JL_Cmder is great for getting rid of IT policies set up on BB's
