JRM Posted 7 January, 2010 Posted 7 January, 2010 Its a good point, we are already guaranteed to be playing 57 games this season, plus maybe a JPT final, more FA Cup, and maybe even play off games. I have missed 3 games so far this season, hats off to anyone who does the lot.
S-Clarke Posted 7 January, 2010 Posted 7 January, 2010 Current L1 games off - Brighton OFF Brentford, 15:00 Bristol Rovers OFF Stockport, 15:00 Charlton OFF Hartlepool, 15:00 Gillingham OFF Tranmere, 15:00 MK Dons OFF Swindon, 15:00 Oldham OFF Leyton Orient, 15:00 Southampton OFF Huddersfield, 15:00 Yeovil OFF Colchester, 15:00 only one that looks likely to go ahead is the Norwich/Exeter game - dependent on Exeter getting there that is. there's a few that haven't been called off yet - but are likely to be by the end of friday.
Thedelldays Posted 7 January, 2010 Posted 7 January, 2010 only 3 games left in league 1....with those to have more inspections

Pretty sure that the Norwich game will be called-off as the forecast for East Anglia/Eastern England in general is horrendous for tomorrow & saturday with strong bitterly-cold winds too.
RonManager Posted 7 January, 2010 Posted 7 January, 2010 Now where's that 'should we have a winter break' thread?
Sherminator Posted 7 January, 2010 Posted 7 January, 2010 I realise that there maybe an issue with people actually getting to the ground, but that aside I thought that we had undersoil heating?
sotonjoe Posted 7 January, 2010 Posted 7 January, 2010 Now where's that 'should we have a winter break' thread? I trust, and sincerely hope, that was ironic.
RonManager Posted 7 January, 2010 Posted 7 January, 2010 I trust, and sincerely hope, that was ironic. It was, strange how things work out though. Just hope that momentum is not lost.
Thedelldays Posted 7 January, 2010 Posted 7 January, 2010 It was, funny how thing work out though. Just hope that momentum is not lost. what momentum...we lost a couple and were playing badly
alehouseboys Posted 7 January, 2010 Posted 7 January, 2010 I realise that there maybe an issue with people actually getting to the ground, but that aside I thought that we had undersoil heating? I'm sure I remember Wupert saying it was hardly needed in the 'mild south' and that it was also very costly to run even against getting the game played. It's also been mentioned that it can ruin the pitch by damaging the grass roots and, as you say, after all that it's usually unsafe access to stadiums for fans, players and emergency services that get them postponed.
S-Clarke Posted 7 January, 2010 Posted 7 January, 2010 It was, strange how things work out though. Just hope that momentum is not lost. we've not got much momentum atm tbf, we've stuttered a bit over xmas if anything - for me, this break is a bonus.
RonManager Posted 7 January, 2010 Posted 7 January, 2010 we've not got much momentum atm tbf, we've stuttered a bit over xmas if anything - for me, this break is a bonus. To clarify, by momentum I meant the general good run and climb that we've been on since Yeovil, but yes we have coughed a bit recently, and it could well be down to tiredness. Certainly this break is a chance for any minor knocks to heal. Scneiderlin has been through the mill in recent matches and as many have said, Lambert too. I've been amazed how well Dan Harding has kept going as he rarely seems to get through a game without taking a heavy tackle or two. Having seen every game since Huddersfield away, I feel that these 3 players have been targeted in particular by other teams.
Thedelldays Posted 7 January, 2010 Posted 7 January, 2010 Having seen every game since Huddersfield away, I feel that these 3 players have been targeted in particular by other teams. worrying isnt it...I was hoping we would have given the FA cup a wide berth and rested 4-5 key players as they simply cannot go on and on and on playing as good as they have been now we have a little rest..
Legod Third Coming Posted 7 January, 2010 Posted 7 January, 2010 what momentum...we lost a couple and were playing badly Correct again. What did you get for Xmas, the football insight guide?
hackedoff Posted 7 January, 2010 Posted 7 January, 2010 The ducts are in place, but no hot air blower was purchased, due to mild winters in th enineties. Since Lowe left we,ve been a bit short of hot air >
Whitey Grandad Posted 7 January, 2010 Posted 7 January, 2010 I read somewhere that undersoil heating costs about £13,000 to operate for one game.
Jesus Reigned Posted 7 January, 2010 Posted 7 January, 2010 Happy with this news as I'd told my wife I wouldn't go as it's our daughter's birthday on Saturday. This way I should get to go to the re-arranged game, plus brownie points still intact with the missus.

This way I should get to go to the re-arranged game, plus brownie points still intact with the missus. Good for you - it's a total pain in the ar5e for me on the other hand as I've got 2 extra tickets for mates to come and they'll never be able to make a rearranged midweek date .
sotonjoe Posted 7 January, 2010 Posted 7 January, 2010 Correct again. What did you get for Xmas, the football insight guide? Swotted up on TSW.
St Marco Posted 7 January, 2010 Posted 7 January, 2010 what momentum...we lost a couple and were playing badly Thought our performance at Leeds was very good personally. Colchester we had a good half and they had a good half. I would not be too down hearted by those results. Leeds are us a year in the future and Colchester are a very organised well disciplined team. If we play like that against the majority of teams in this league were win most of them. We have actually only lost 3 games out of the last 20 or so. I'm sure 4 months ago if someone said that we would all be very happy with it
Tractor_Saint Posted 7 January, 2010 Posted 7 January, 2010 This way I should get to go to the re-arranged game, plus brownie points still intact with the missus. But you would have found out a way to go to the football had it been on, right?

Nope, I'd have had to have taken one for the team (ie my b@llocks) and missed the game...
scotty Posted 7 January, 2010 Posted 7 January, 2010 Get the fook in. Was gonna miss my first game at sms this season as I'm going to Slovenia for the weekend. Bonus!! I'd wait til your flights confirmed before gloating....
Matthew Le God Posted 7 January, 2010 Posted 7 January, 2010 Surely no-one can be this stupid? Johnny Shuttle on BBC's 606 if a game gets called off the home team automatically gets three points, thats right isn't it? Do Huddersfield fans mind? I think the rules a bit one sided but blame the FA. http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/A61537368

Find one that checks the fixture list before organising anything
saintds Posted 7 January, 2010 Posted 7 January, 2010 To clarify, by momentum I meant the general good run and climb that we've been on since Yeovil, but yes we have coughed a bit recently, and it could well be down to tiredness. I'd say our form in December was more down to the standard of opposition - Leeds, Norwich, Colchester, all teams in the play off zone and more capable of countering our game plan. Lambert didn't do well against any of these teams. OK, we beat Norwich, but we were still poor on the night. Tiredness may well have been a factor for certain players, but lets hope that can be resolved by bringing some more quality into the squad.
NickG Posted 7 January, 2010 Posted 7 January, 2010 still 5th over last 8 games, but not quite as good as was http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/D2/oform.html
70's Mike Posted 7 January, 2010 Posted 7 January, 2010 another afternoon with Jeff Stelling and Co. Boring
RonManager Posted 7 January, 2010 Posted 7 January, 2010 another afternoon with Jeff Stelling and Co. Boring I don't know what they'll be talking about though - not many games left now.
Matthew Le God Posted 7 January, 2010 Posted 7 January, 2010 I don't know what they'll be talking about though - not many games left now. Every Premiership game atm is still on and thats generally what they care about.
M271 Posted 7 January, 2010 Posted 7 January, 2010 I hope that they don't re-schedule it until March as a part from a potential JPT final that month is looking less busy. Is there any time limit to how long a postponed match can be delayed by ?
RonManager Posted 7 January, 2010 Posted 7 January, 2010 Every Premiership game atm is still on and thats generally what they care about. Yeah, strange that, seeing as most postponements seem to be the road access etc etc.

Is there any time limit to how long a postponed match can be delayed by ? It's a World Cup year so FIFA want all leagues to be finished by May 10th
Dark Munster Posted 7 January, 2010 Posted 7 January, 2010 I hope they replace the excited of a match by announcing 4 signings on the OS on Saturday. At 3pm a centre back At 3.45 a striker At 4.45 a midfielder At 5.00 a right back Still , the perils of Pompey warm the ****les of your heart in these cold and difficult times Yes indeed. But let's hope their match is not called off. It would be a shame for it to be rearranged for after their African Nations Cup players get back (assuming that their club still exists then )
1976_Child Posted 7 January, 2010 Posted 7 January, 2010 I'm not complainng. Could do with a full weekend in front of the TV. Still knackered after Christmas and New Year. Think I'm getting old...

This way I should get to go to the re-arranged game, plus brownie points still intact with the missus. I'm not even going to tell the missus the match is off, then I get a free whole day out on the ****. She'll never find out.

BotleySaint Posted 7 January, 2010 Posted 7 January, 2010 Premiership games will probably start being cancelled late tonight/tomorrow?
Bourno Posted 7 January, 2010 Posted 7 January, 2010 Well I am still coming down. See you in the Guide Dog at about 1.00! A long way to come for a beer.
