Whitey Grandad Posted 16 September, 2008 Share Posted 16 September, 2008 Goal difference is -5 already. Ouch! Let's wait 'til Saturday night before we start panicking. Legod Second Coming Posted 16 September, 2008 Share Posted 16 September, 2008 I know, what would be ideal is to make the next game a must win and pile pressure on the team (after five games) and for good measure, can I suggest we boo each mistake they make in our frustration and impatience... NickG Posted 16 September, 2008 Share Posted 16 September, 2008 Absolutlely right. I am fed with hearing this "we played well" crap its points we need. Playingpretty football for some of the game is worth sweet FA after you get beat. why? if we aim to play well but lose then we will all be fed up but if its a choice between walking out talking about the good football having lost or losing playing carp then I would rather the Bham performance any day. And playing well suggests that on another day you will have the ability to win a game or two. Of course pretty football is not a substitute for points, it is a sport -but its entertainment and and indication of future performances

ALWAYS_SFC Posted 16 September, 2008 Share Posted 16 September, 2008 I don`t feel confident we will win against anyone at the moment. Despite all the pretty football we just cannot finish teams off. NickG Posted 16 September, 2008 Share Posted 16 September, 2008 lol...keep your head buried mate...it took you a while to realise burley was cack and it will take you a while to see we are going to be in real trouble this year.. worst goal difference already bar forest....that is a stat alone that will ensure we remain in trouble.. goal difference - two nil win tomorrow, wouldn't be total shock, suddenly 8 teams have same or worse goal difference -with home game to come, equally could go other way but...early days! Do you not think the Barnsley game is a rather important one in the current circumstances? I fear for what might happen on this site if we lose at home to barnsley. I really should try not to think about this yet because of Ipswich but it wont go away!!
Legod Second Coming Posted 16 September, 2008 Share Posted 16 September, 2008 Why are people talking about 'pretty football'??? (mainly those who don't go often, I ...) Cos what I enjoy watching is players GIVING THEIR ALL THROUGHOUT THE GAME. Not hard to work out why, is it?? And it is effective. It is not always excuted all the time. That might be because we have a YOUNG, CHEAP, INEXPERIENCED, UNPROVEN squad. Doh, and people thought we would be winning every week...

ottery st mary Posted 16 September, 2008 Share Posted 16 September, 2008 This is where the Coach JP will be tested, the pressure is on and he sticks to his same style/system or does he go for a win with wingers and two strikers. No panic from me as I have us down for 3-0. But if it helps I had us down for automatic promotion and to win every league game. So come Saturday night I am on the right track or JP will get some real advice from me.
saintjinksie Posted 16 September, 2008 Share Posted 16 September, 2008 Well I'm ashamed to say it, i bet on saints to lose at the weekend (3-1) so I was annoyed. will prob bet on us to go down regardless of result tomorrow, might aswell make some money out of it. Winner both ways (or loser both ways).
David Strover Posted 16 September, 2008 Share Posted 16 September, 2008 Keep the Faith I don't mean to be controversial but this is the most irritating expression I keep hearing on the Saints Forum(s). Keep the 'king Faith? I've done that for about five or six seasons and where has it got us? Right here. We are at bottom of the The Championship because we are the worst performing team in The Championship and after tomorrow night it won't surprise me if we are still there. I then predict the club will act and try to 'put things right' when it's all too late (February) and by then the only real people to suffer will be as usual the fans.... It's great fun being a Southampton supporter - as Jasper Carrott once said about being a Birmingham supporter "You draw some, you lose some". Ironically he's seen more winning games than any of us have in the last ten years!

Winner both ways (or loser both ways). Don't be ashamed. I lumped on us to go down at 9/2 and 7/2 last season. My only regret is that I did not lump on Leicester on the final day - that's when you realise how much your club means to you. When you are so fecking nervous and excited you forget your covering stake! But hey, like a I gave a to55 when we stayed up! kicked myself all the way home mind... St Marco Posted 16 September, 2008 Share Posted 16 September, 2008 Agreed. We should be having this debate in November, not after five frigging games with one at home in hand and one against Barnsley to follow... The problem is though 2 more defeats this week will probably open a gap between the bottom to something like 2 games. The season does not end in September but if we start drifting away i think it will be near impossible for us to get out of that situation without changing the system. We have already started to take on injuries with Holmes/Gamis/Svensson etc.. i think those who said promotion now feel stupid and those saying mid-table are very hopeful. Legod Second Coming Posted 16 September, 2008 Share Posted 16 September, 2008 5 games. 5 ****ing games. Some of you never cease to amaze. A few of you in particular deserve nothing more than a league 1 or 2 club anyway. Not that you'd go and watch it regardless. I suppose Spurs are doomed, should sack their board, players, manager etc too yeah? I give him another two games...

I suppose Spurs are doomed, should sack their board, players, manager etc too yeah? Spurs actually has some quality players in there squad who are experienced. Spurs have enough money to survive. Saints HAVE nothing. Youth players.. they don't even have much experience.. Need some more older players to guide them or play in the same team with them.. Thankfully we got Perry, who has been really supportive and positive to the young players. All I care about is Saints staying up. down another league will be disastrious. Things could pick up. It depends on the unity of the team and the luck we get. Edited 16 September, 2008 by Calvin

itchen Posted 17 September, 2008 Share Posted 17 September, 2008 Do you know who really will be caring we are bottom? Our players. And that's not something I could have said confidently for most of last season. It's not agreat position and I won't try to pretend it is. But these are early days for a young team that I am confident will get better as the season goes on. Having said that, I wish JP would play Mcgoldrick with John as central striker. We look better going forward.
