Gillet gone on free transfer?

O'Driscoll speaking on the Donny OS:

"His loan finishes on 5th January and we had an agreement with Southampton that, if we could agree personal terms, we could take him on a free transfer subject to a sell-on clause. That still stands;"

...I wonder what % the sell-on clause is, it could be a good bit of business for Saints, especially if he doesn't fit in with AP's plans.

Very, very disappointed if true. I ahve real reservations about Pardew: the fact he rates rubbish like ANtonio above Gillet is quite concerning as is the fact we are about to bring in Pericard.

Pardew has moaned about lack of quality at the club but appears to be bringing in quite a few mediocre players himself.

The fact that Donny have gone on a winning run since he joined (at Championship level, not League 1) is no coincidence.

Antonio is a winger Wash, with pace! Gillet play's centre midfield and I'd have Hammond and Schneriden a head of him anytime.

As for Pericard..................27 years old, played in the prem last season, has played for Juventus and has scored 6 in 15 in our league this season and we can get him on a free!!!!!!! Yea Pardew worries me tooooo!

Apart from Kelvin I only rated Gillett in last years squad and thought that he was a certainty this season. I was therefore disappointed that he very clearly wasn't fancied by AP. But if I look at our current midfield, would I fancy him ahead of Hammond or Schneiderlin? No. Would I consider him as the long term defensive midfielder in a five man midfield? No.

We need something more than his willingness to work tiredlessly for 90 minutes.

That doesn't make him a bad player, and I am delighted that Donny plays a game which suits Gillett and allows him to shine. Good luck for the future!

+1.

good post :)
