How is St Marys for getting matches on?

in other words, will Saturdays game be OK if we get bucket loads of snow.

I guess the biggest factor will be weather (pun intended) Huddersfield can get to the ground rather than the ground itself....

Think I read that they're thinking of leaving a day earlier just to make sure they get here okay.

I presume they will cover the pitch in heavy sheets and then have 'the fans' and the 'yoof team' shovelling it off on Friday and Saturday morning, in traditional stylee?

Unless anybody has got any better ideas, in which case they need to mail the groundstaff pronto.

(also need to check where Hudders are staying and arrange a 2.00am fire alarm on Sat morning)

As the pitch was covered after the game on Saturday to prevent it getting frosted/iced up. Snow can then be blown/swept off easily. The ducts are in for the undersoil heating, but Lord Ductunder did not buy the hot air machine - he thought he could just speak into it instead!!

More often than not it's the conditions of the streets and pavements around the various grounds that causes games to get called off rather than the playing surface itself.

Was about to post the same thing.

Apparently the pitch is fine for tonight's cup semi but it's too dengerous for people to converge on the ground. Tomorrow's match at Man City is also off and given how new and shiny and lovely their ground is I imagine it's nothing to do with the pitch.

Does anyone remember Saints v Sheff Utd from December 2005?

I have never been so cold at a football match in my life

Reading away in the cup under Souness. Absolutely bitter and stood on an open concrete bank. Brrrr.

On the same basis, why don't the Police order the closure of Town centres/Shopping centres.

Shopping centres are open for much longer and thus people are arriving/departing on a staggered basis rather than a concentrated arrival/departure pattern for sporting events?

Or, my preferred answer: f*** knows :)

Leigh has had about 8 - 10 inches today .... not bad for the met offices forecast of snow and sleet showers

Not sure if I'll be able to get my hire car off our cul de sac tomorrow as the 1st stage of getting back to a hopefully warmer and sunnier Dubai :(

That was a bitter night, you could see the frost getting whiter on the pitch as the game went on. I remember getting Bangers and Mash from that Mash of the Day place, the mash sat in my stomach for most of the game like a breeze block that had spent the afternoon in the oven which was a bonus.

Can you confirm the brand of hire car please and possibly from whom it is hired?

We're all on tenterhooks.

A pink Robin Reliant, but I'm not letting on where I hired it from as you'd be down there in a flash to buy it.
