Minty Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 This is the main board; I know the rules! There are other clubs interested in him also, but we're hoping to wrap up the signing soon. Palace are deperate for some money. lol, since when did you start following rules!? Sounds good though, an ideal signing.
John B Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 So you wouldn't think that if Palace need say 1mil in a hurry and a player wanted 250k a year extra in his wage packets to leave that a deal to give him an extra portion of an inflated fee in lieu couldn't be worked out by a dodgy agent? Not saying it IS the case, but it could be a possibility Yes it could be but from experience it will depend on the player in the end
niceandfriendly Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 The palace board is alive with the beliefs that he has moved to us........ please let this be true Link please?
Smirking_Saint Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 Link please? http://forums.cpfc.org/showthread.php?t=195122&page=10
niceandfriendly Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 http://forums.cpfc.org/showthread.php?t=195122&page=10 They're just speculating as we are really.

St.Patrik Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 Palace plays home to Bristol tomorrow and If he is left out of the squad the he is probbably coming to Saints. So waiting time ahead I guess. If the game can be played offcourse?
CitySaint Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 According to their site, seems he is staying put. Not fussed, seems a lot of money for an average player in my opinion, do not want to be wasting £1.2 million on someone I've not heard a lot about. Remember we are a league 1 club, and I think Cortese has commented that organic growth is the way forward, not opulent spending. Elliot Ward for £300,00 .... Yes Please.

explorer saint Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 but http://www.southlondon-today.co.uk/tn/Sport.cfm?id=447&headline=Exclusive%3A http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news...cle280563.html 'personal terms set to scupper deal', in a way I'm pleased that though we have money we are not being held to ransom, and perhaps explains to some extent why palace are in the sticky stuff
John B Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 Stop posting the same ****ing links!!!!!! Unfortunately there are four threads with the same information on Which is causing the problem
Chez Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 In a strange way I don't want to see us splashing millins on players in this league. I guess I don't want the club to be viewed as a billybigballs type club.

Foxstone Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 Erm http://www.croydonguardian.co.uk/sport/eagleeye/4841007.Fonte_turns_down_Southampton_move/? Maybe he is waiting to see whether he is paid or not.. If he is not, then as the article states he can tear up his contract and might be able to negotiate better personal terms with us. We would also save on a transfer fee.
NickG Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 I don't think we are seen as that at all. Think some still think we are broke!
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 So, to clarify things, as they stand: We have bid 1.2 million or 1.5 million for Fonte, which has been accepted, and he is currently having a medical with us or training with Palace and will sign today or stay in South London, as he doesn't want to leave the area?
Arizona Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 Damn, looks like the transfer's off. "On January 8th 2010, Fonte retired from football to set up a ghost hunting agency with Carsten Jancker and Dereck Acorah."
RonManager Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 http://www.southlondon-today.co.uk/tn/Sport.cfm?id=664&headline=Jose Back on again
MerceSaint28 Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 WE ARE BACK IN THE MIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Beat me to it Ron Manager!
saints_is_the_south Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 http://www.southlondon-today.co.uk/tn/Sport.cfm?id=664&headline=Jose Back on again w00t! Maybe something announced this evening then.
itchen_dan Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 I honestly can't remember the last time i was this excited!!! This could be a great way to end what has been such a roller coaster of a day surrounding this deal!!
Matthew Le God Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 Palace's game is still currently on tomorrow. Will be interesting if Fonte is included in the squad or not should the game go ahead. Pretty sure he is not injured and has been a regular for them.
shurlock Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 I honestly can't remember the last time i was this excited!!! This could be a great way to end what has been such a roller coaster of a day surrounding this deal!! yeh been an eternity since we've got excited about anything - being rescued from the clutches of extinction by a billionaire just a few months ago wasn't much of a the buzz...christ.
Saint Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 Would be great to actually have some news! Sounds like a decent signing too!
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 'Saints friend of mine says sources claim Jose is at their training ground' on palace forum
shurlock Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 (edited) A cultured CB is just what we need - if he can handle the CCC, he'll have no probs in L1. Edited 8 January, 2010 by shurlock
S-Clarke Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 ''Spoke to mymate who knows jose, and he said that fonte came to see himto say goodbye. He doesn't want to go but has been forced to go which is a shame. At keast palace will be in his heart'' i'm seeing lots of posts about him not wanting to leave, and being ''forced'' by palace, as we're the only club to have put the money up. i hope he's got the right attitude when he pulls on the shirt...
Golden Balls Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 If it happens, it wont be announced until Monday
Tac-tics Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 Any chance it'll be confirmed tonight? Sweepstake?
Matthew Le God Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 ''Spoke to mymate who knows jose, and he said that fonte came to see himto say goodbye. No player can really be "forced". He'd be well within his rights to say no and see out his contract and Palace couldn't do a thing (apart from not paying wages which they are currently struggling to do).
Saint_clark Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 If it happens, it wont be announced until Monday Why?
Matthew Le God Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 Why? Because the offices where it has to be rubber stamped have closed and don't open again until Monday. It can only be announced "in principle" before Monday morning.
Golden Balls Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 Why? Has to be approved and that can't happen until monday now. The only time this doesn't happen is if the day the transfer window closes is a weekend.
Matthew Le God Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 The only time this doesn't happen is if the day the transfer window closes is a weekend. The transfer window never closes on a weekend. They just extend it by a day or two to the Monday when the offices are open again.
Golden Balls Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 The transfer window never closes on a weekend. They just extend it by a day or two to the Monday when the offices are open again. Good point.
Master Bates Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 The window never closes on a weekend. That's good news because i've just had a text from a very reliable source telling me that Peter Pan hates it when the window's shut.
Fowllyd Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 I honestly can't remember the last time i was this excited!!! This could be a great way to end what has been such a roller coaster of a day surrounding this deal!! You really need to get out more.
Mark`` Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 Nathianial Clyne geezer by any chance. hes the right Wing back tipped for big things.
Saint Charlie Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 Seems very likely. Then. Great signing, a really good CCC defender. Look at this, he can actually play a bit: Some Palace fans saying he didnt really want to leave but they need the money. They really rate him, seems like their loss will be our gain.
StuRomseySaint Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 Strong rumours of Danns joining within the next couple of days too and a fee being agreed.
saint_stevo Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 lots of hype, can i be the first to say- what if he is crap? Glad someone has had a chew on our corey. Hope we get it back in the glory hole again soon
david in sweden Posted 8 January, 2010 Posted 8 January, 2010 You really need to get out more. Yes ..does he have any of those little yellow pills left, or..? I'll be more excited when we sign BOTH the Rooney brothers..but then again I remember all THREE Wallaces' playing together, and...... Peter Shilton, Dave Watson, Kevin Keegan, Mick Mills, Alan Ball ...and Uncle Tom Cobleigh and all..... (Ah those were the days!)

Maybe a bit past his peak when we signed him. Better than Ray Wallace though.
