pablo counago at Ipswich is another name to throw in the mix.

Rocket swanie mentioned it on 606 (ok, i know his rep. leaves alot to be desired...)

i think he'd make a good signing though, a good intelligent striker... and he hasn't been playing regular at Ipswich.

beckford

makes me laugh the idiots who were on here aftre the game at Elland Road suggesting Beckford was pants. He showed the same electric pace against us and on a different day could have had a hatrick. He will score goals for fun in the CCC. I'm not convinced he's a premiership striker, but at this level he's the most dangerous I've seen.

Should have got him before Blackpool or at least from them instead of QPR.

Maybe he is the man for us now 29 years of age?

I was telling about him for ages here and on previous forum, before joining Blackpool, while playing for Ventspils and Assyriska in Sweden. 29 is not 35 I guess.

Reading the BBC Premiership transfer guide (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/8433692.stm), it seems that there might be some good bargains to snap up from clubs.

Brian Easton from Burnley is going to be allowed to go, and I think he would be great. He's versatile in the defence (plays centre back but can also play left back), strong, good in the air and he's only 20 or 21. Burnley got him from Hamilton in the summer, who had 3 great youngsters starring in their squad, who were James McCarthy, Brian Easton and James McArthur. I think any three of those are realistic and good targets, and although McCarthy is now at Wigan, he's only played 1 game so far so he could be willing to come on loan until the end of the season. McCarthy and McArthur are midfielders, McCarthy with a bit more flair and creativity and McArthur a bit more steely and in the Hammond mould.

Wolves are also prepared to let Greg Halford go, I think he would make a fantastic signing as well. He's the epitome of versatility, he can literally play anywhere on the pitch. He's been linked with Sheffield United, but I reckon we could poach him if we put a bit of cash behind the deal. I've also mentioned this guy's name before, but I think Andy Jackson from St Johnstone would also be a fantastic signing. St Johnstone are my second team, and whenever I see them play and Jacko is playing, he changes the team completely. He's very skilful, and is a player in the mould of David Connolly. Although he had problems with injuries last season, I think he'd be a great addition to the squad, and would probably be relatively cheap as well.

David Templeton and Eggert Jonsson from Hearts would also both be great signings. Templeton is 20 and Jonsson is 21, and both of them have impressed so far this season. Templeton is a really tricky striker, with electric pace and good technique, and Jonsson is a versatile centre back, defensive midfielder and full back on either side. Hearts may be reluctant to let them go, but i'm sure we could prise them away, or perhaps promise some of our youngsters a seasons loan up there.

I also think Gary Glen from Hearts would be a great signing. He's a young striker (18 or 19 I think) who's just broken into the first team this season. I think he's got vast potential, and he's one of the most intelligent footballers in Scotland at the moment, his movement on the pitch is quality. Maybe we should take him on loan until the end of the season with an option to buy, because I think he'd be a quality signing but i'm wondering whether he could perhaps cope with the physical aspect of this league, because he's just a wee lad!

Craig Thomson is also another Hearts youngster we should look at. He's an 18 year old right back who's just broken in to the first team and has already won a lot of praise, including an SPL Young Player of the Month trophy. He's also a set piece specialist, and he is supposedly brilliant at taking free kicks and corners and is a brilliant crosser of the ball. I think this is what we've been lacking in the side, and we certainly need someone who can take a decent corner. He also scored 12 goals in the U19 side last season for Hearts, which is pretty impressive from RB, and 10 of them were from set pieces! I think Thommo would be an amazing signing for us, and i've got half a mind to phone AP up and tell him to send a scout up there to take a look at him.

Well, that's my 2 cents anyway. Basically all the players I suggested are from the Scottish leagues, but I think that the SPL is the closest to L1 in terms of player quality and style of play, so i'm sure these players could make an impact. I'd be happy if we signed any of these players, and i'm sure they probably wouldn't break the bank too much either. Value for money! Sign them up AP! :D

I think I went a bit overboard on this post!

Please keep any HCDAJFU and rumours to this thread, unless there is some credible* Ketchup linking then to Saints.

*606, Pompeyonline, wikipedia and TUI are not credible sources.

SuperMikey is clearly manager of Hearts on FM2010

Is it that obvious? :D

Are you an agent?????????????????

No, but perhaps that could be a career path to move down in the future. Ever thought about being a career advisor?

James McArthur would be an excellent addition to our squad, good shout SuperMikey.

He would be great, especially if we were to lose one of our key central midfielders in the near future. Definitely could be a key player for years to come.

Sam Vokes' agent has been asked to see if Saints are intertested in taking him on loan. Nothing heard back yet from the club; my source thinks that a loan move to Derby may be more likely though.

that would be faaaaaaaaarking quality, if he came to us, not Derby to clarify
